The restaurant is inside a bazaar kind of establishment. There are a dozen kiosk type of businesses selling all kinds of stuffs like Chinese books, Korean TV drama on DVD etc. If you can find Sogo bakery near the entrance, then just walk towards the back of the building to find this restaurant. The restaurant offers $18 combo dinner with 3 dishes and steamed rice. You pick one dish from three separate columns on a menu. The different columns limit the choices of your three dishes for their cost control. Obviously Column A and B are of different cost to them. Column C contains only plain veggie dishes. Several kinds of greens to choose from, i.e. veggie du jour. The menu uses Simplified Chinese characters, which indicates the owner is not from Taiwan nor Hong Kong. I asked them if they were related to the New Yong Kang in Newark, they said no. The dishes are closer to northern Chinese or Sichuan cuisine, and food terminologies are also quite different from Cantonese restaurant. For example, in Cantonese restaurant any dish named "pai gu" would means pork spare ribs. But in this restaurant, the same means pork chops like those you find in Taiwanese restaurants. I would have rated this a 3 stars for the food quality. But I gave them another star for the large portion and low price. It is a good place to fill up if you are on a budget. PS: watch out for those spicy dishes, they are really loaded and can burn a hole in your tongue. But if you love spicy food, you would love those burning dishes. Bring cash. They don't take credit card.

I must say the three dish combo for 18 bucks was a pretty good deal. Portions were huge. There were three of us and we had leftovers for another meal. We tried the Shanghai soup dumplings and they were just ok. This was not the best dining setting. It's more of a place to go for the sake of eating. They're located in the back of the food court area in this large hall which used to be a supermarket. The tables were neatly arranged in rows. The service was prompt and courteous. I think this is a great option for a to-go meal at home if you're too tired to cook.
