PRO-TIP: Purchase your tickets online ahead of time for a discount and a shorter entry in. Though, you can also get a discount if you show their flyer to the in person ticket purchase for up to 6 tickets AND you can even get a season pass discount to all of their other shows. I LOVE REPTILES (lizards especially) and this was my first time attending a reptile show not in SoCal, so I was doubly excited to see new vendors that I have not seen before (since you usually get a repeat if you keep going to the same regional shows). Entry with pre-purchased tickets was not a hassle and you can even get a stamp for re-entry if needed. Potentially the venue itself, but this was the first reptile show I came out of not being super sweaty from the heat or humidity. Big pro right off the bat already. Since I was flying in, I can't really make purchases to take on my carry on, but it was still nice to see everyone that was there. I have to say that this show had way more non-profits and educational exhibitors than what I usually see. Although, outside of ZooMed there wasn't any super big industry guests like Zilla or Chewy or Morph Market, I appreciated the breath of fresh air. Yes, it's a great way for kids to come up close to reptiles and there's lots of vendors where you can pay a small fee to hold and take pictures of their reptiles (I saw $3-10) and this included beardies, blue tongue skinks, ball pythons, and even a very large monitor lizard. Additionally, there was a table in the back with free coloring sheets and even a super worm sensory bin where you can touch them as much as you'd like (no need for me as someone who feeds them to my beardie). Lots of reptile rescues were there and many of them had animals for adoptions. Kudos to them also for stating that they'd only adopt out animals with proof of purchase or proof of having the correct enclosure for the animals, as well as educating the public about safe and healthy husbandry practices. Another neat thing was the involvement of educational/academic/school outreaches and projects. One of the exhibitors, Things that Creep, is an educational live animal program that showcases not only rescues but the herps that can be found in the Bay Area too, along with not only hands on but classroom projects. Really cool. Some neat herps that I saw at this show were Schneider's skinks (one day you'll be mine), golden geckos (I've only seen these online owned by Korean keepers), many monitor lizards and tegus, a caiman lizard, a 2 headed California king snake, hatching tortoises, and much more. I also got to speak to a very friendly and kind lady who owns the Bioactive Supply company (haven't seen them at a show before, so this was cool) and I managed to snag the ZooMed beardie sticker and lanyard that has swerved me at every single SoCal show. Would love to attend this show again and the other Reptile Realms too!
