Been here twice now! It's a nice spot for comedy needs. Service for food/drink can be a little slow, which is kind of lame given that you're forced to buy two VERY overpriced items. I understand the 2 item min is a comedy club tradition but if it's gonna be expensive, you'd hope for good service and high quality food. The nachos okay. My drink never came the last time I went. Props to the server for a quick refund. Not too broken up about it but I kinda wished I could've tried the drink lol, I was thirsty after all those chips! Other than that, not much to complain about. I haven't really been to any other comedy venues so have nothing to compare it to.

This venue has hosted many great comics including newark legend cristopher titus and anjelah johnson of san jose. It has an older thatre feel but still roxks the tradional imrpov brixk wall. Theres also a balcony. The headliner today will prpbably not draw enough people for them to need to open thw upper dexk. The food here has historically been hit or miss. Its never inedible just often very mid. The staff is estremely good here. They are on it and there are a lot of employees. I highly xommend the staff.

To Whom It May Concern, Thank you for ruining my date night by shoving us in the corner of our comedy show for Don McMillan on Wednesday, October 23rd. We had been waiting for over half an hour outside to get in and had a number of people in front of us. They were getting pretty good seats and somehow avoided the seats in the corner until we came to be seated and were asked to sit in the corner. How did they all avoid this? Were these seats forgotten and suddenly remembered when we showed up? Did we have a choice to protest? I would expect that these seats would be left for latecomers. Pretty disappointed and the show hasn't even started yet. I was looking forward to the PowerPoints and will probably not even to get to see the screen. At least our food and drinks came, and with a bit of prodding, we received our side. My street tacos were great, as expected, and my husband's burger wasn't bad. The gin collins were really good along with our Stella's. Hit the spot. Anyway, the show was great but very hard to see the screen with the side curtains. There was even a table available that no one showed up to but when I asked, the server did not let us move but said he could ask. He never returned to confirm. Since there "may" be a VIP that would show to claim it, and since we had already ordered, we were doomed to stay at our corner. No one ever came to claim it. Needless to say, I will not let anyone seat me in the corner again unless it's the last seats available.

Friend invited us for a night of comedy show. Got there and checked in in the front and then they bring you back and seat you. We ordered food and drinks. It was dark and it's an adult crowd. I didn't expect much but the shrimp tacos were pretty good: they had plenty of toppings and sour cream with a tangy salsa verde. 4 stars. Just didn't like all the breading of the shrimp. The slider burgers were simple: 3.5 stars. Good with the ketchup but too much bread. Nachos was good- decent but did not make you want to eat more. 3 stars. We just got soda cuz it was a Sunday night and I have better etoH at home.

Went to the 3:30pm showing for Marlon Wayans on a Saturday and had a great time! Was able to get there right before doors opened and parked in the lot right across the street for $20. Staff was so friendly and helpful before, during, and after the show. Service was quick. Venue was clean and organized, not overcrowded. Music was a great mix and included Bay Area artists, which I loved. Food was pretty good for it being a comedy club! Highly recommend the key lime pie jar lol. I'll for sure be back for another show in the near future.

San Jose Improv hosts some great comedians and we love coming here to see them. However this is a review for the food and beverage. Improv has a minimum two item purchase each show. You order off the QR codes by your seat and the servers run your order to you. Our waiter was friendly but service can be slow since there are so many people. I found the portions to have reduced even further since I last left. The fries had good seasoning but felt like a sample size considering the price. The fried Oreos were fantastic but the scoop of ice cream was the smallest scoop I've seen

PSA: it's hard to rate sj improv because we go there for the comedy, not the food. However, their business is set up in a way that along with your ticket to the show, you must make a two item purchase per person. Being someone who is sober, I turn to the menu items every time. Unfortunately, their menu is not appealing if you're not drunk. Everything is heavily breaded and deep fried if not a dessert item or a sad salad with barely there salad dressing from a shelf stable bottle. I figured guacamole is a safe option. I was wrong. How do you mess up guacamole, you ask? When there isn't a single ounce of avocado in the guacamole. Luckily, the waitress took it back after I complained and told me the spinach artichoke dip is her favorite. She brought that as a replacement and, sure enough, that was gnarly as well. It had a hard shell of cheese crusted over the top. It was not dippable by any means. I removed the crust of dip on the top and spooned some onto the stale chips throughout the evening and made do, but I would not recommend that dish either. The ambiance is great, the comedians are talented, but the business needs to stop trying to sell food as "gourmet" options, and just sell simple crowd pleasers like popcorn and simple nacho cheese on regular chips. I think I'll just stick with tea and water next time, but I'd love to see more sober friendly options on their menu.

My friend and I came here to see Mike Epps on friday night, who was hilarious! Loved him. The rating is more for the facility in general. Parking is so hard to find in DT SJ. Ended up going to the parking garage and paying $12. The line was long, but it did move steadily. The seating was just too cramped for me. Chairs right next to chairs and tables so close. It just wasn't as comfortable as I would like. We even had VIP seating and sat close. I can only imagine what the regular seating would be like. We ordered some food, two shots of tequila, two cocktails, and some water. The food came out maybe 20 mins later. We waited another 10 mins before we flagged someone down asking for our drinks and she said they are coming. But we are so thirsty now after eating our sliders. Could not even get our water. Probably another 10-15mins before we got our drinks. It looked way too busy. With how packed they made the tables and chairs to have so many guests, they need more workers. It took a while to get our drinks. Also the price is wild. The drinks and food is completely over priced for the service and flavor. Three little dry sliders with some fries was $30. I think it was a rip off. Overall though, we still enjoyed seeing Mike Epps!

Review for San Jose Improv - Marlon Wayans Show I went to the San Jose Improv recently for the Marlon Wayans show. It was my first time there. As an ADA guest with a prosthetic leg, I felt overlooked by the staff. The communication was poor, and they seemed hesitant to help, likely because they couldn't see my disability. There were only two of us with ADA needs, and we were seated completely apart and far from convenient access. Though Elevator access helped a lot. The food was good but definitely on the pricey side and took a while to come out. The show itself was amazing -- Marlon Wayans was hilarious and performed for a long time. The venue is beautiful, vintage, and intimate, which I really appreciated. Overall, I'd rate the experience a 8/10 for the show and atmosphere itself but the lack of proper ADA awareness plus the customer service from the staff definitely dropped my overall experience down.
