This food truck is in San Lorenzo right now on Thursday and Friday afternoons. For the last three Fridays, we've gotten Smack Burgers for dinner and we've loved it every time. The jalapeño burger is our favorite. The hot honey and onion rings are such a nice touch. I also love how the waffle fries taste like curly fries but in a waffle shape. We always order ahead, and our food is ready right on time. The service is great and the food has been consistently delicious. Can't wait to go back... this Friday haha.

"Smack Burgers," a trusted source said.. This was news to me. It was good news, as it turns out. You get me driving through the cuts and backstreets of SJ's industrial area to a pop-up food truck; there better be a fat kid's daydream waiting for me there. There was. When I try a burger, I don't mess around with anything but the core ingredients. A double cheeseburger needs only 3 components: meat, cheese, bun. That way the true foundation of flavor can't hide behind sauces, lettuce, or any other nonsense (onions are pure nonsense FYI) people put on burgers. "Plain Jane" is what I ordered. What I got was a double cheeseburger that could talk the Smack, and Smack back if necessary. Smashed to a thin, encrusted meat-coaster which looked like it was going to be as dry as an AA meeting; I was instantly convinced as I bit into it.. It was juicy, I experienced the buttered bun and melted cheese along with salty black pepper right away. Didn't need anything else on it, I could've eaten 2, back to back plain. Enter the Smack Sauce on the side, however. Done deal folks, I'm going again. Why 4 stars? I'll tell you why, since you seem to need to know. It's because I'm tired of really good pop-ups hooking me, only being open 1 day a week, then eventually disappearing and turning into future conversation amongst food addicts about awesome food you can't get anymore. I'm rooting for you guys; open a location in the south bay. You'll absolutely kill it out here.

I kept seeing their ad on IG finally decided to see wussup. Im going to be real with my review so here it goes . I don't know if it's the way they season their patties or if they use a different kind of meat but it doesn't taste like your usual patty. The meat seemed to have a Mediterranean hint to it. Not to my liking when I comes to burgers but if you like the meats like gyro or if you like how falafels taste like then these are the smash burgers for you. But again that's not for me, I do like falafels but I don't want that flavor In my burgers. I pretty much had like a gyro flavored burger. The smack fries looked so bomb so I had to try it. But it was disappointing right when I saw it because the image in ads or promotions can be misleading because it's not a big regular take out box it comes in it's actually pretty small size for $10 dollars. Fries were seasoned good but barely had any meat or whatever patty they put in it . The smack sauce doesn't taste anything special something anyone can make at home I don't know maybe we got a watered down batch. Worth a try but Would I order again ? I'll pass again the way they make their patties/meat isn't to my liking but everybody's different. I'm a proud Bay Area born and raised Baydestrian myself and I thought it was cool they used bay lingos to their menu items but I wouldn't say it's the of the bay lol not that they're promoting it like that but I mean tourist can think other wise .

A friend told me that this was probably one of the best smash burgers he had, and man was he right! Thank god I shared the food with my partner bc RIP my arteries. But everything was soooo good. The smack fries probably had to be my favorite since it reminded me of a certain "style" of fries from a famous CA burger chain but this was 1000x better prob because of the added smash patties in the fries. And the burger was a juicy, fat, and stacked double smash burger that I wouldn't mind having every once in awhile. Def would come back whenever I'm in the area!

Absolutely delicious can't stop thinking about this smash burger moment. This is a pop up food truck (in San Jose on weekends - see their Instagram for details) but I keep thinking about it! I got the Hellapeno burger (2 patties, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, pork bacon, jalapeños, onion rings, SMACK sauce, and mikes hot honey). Their burgers are big and juicy and hit the spot perfectly. For an extra $6.50 you can add waffle fries and a drink and they had Baja blast in a can!!! Be sure to come early as it's pretty popular and may sell out if you come too late! There's a few tables outside but there's also a brewery around the front and there's seating inside as well!

Came to check this place on a Saturday night to try the beers and burger. Food Truck is located in the back building with plenty of tables and chairs to kickback for a beer and bites. Hellapeno burger and waffle potato is fresh and delicious. Quality burgers. Many people call orders for pickups too. A must try! We tried the blonde beer, which is light and refreshing. Will go back to try more next time.

Came to Narrative Fermentation and saw this food truck outside. The line was long and as they make everything to order, be patient as it'll take some time. ordered the original smash burger which is two patties, sauce and pickles. It was juicy, slightly messy (in a good way) and very tasty. It could have benefitted from a few extra pickles and more sauce. Ordered the waffle fries, which is fried in beef tallow. They were thick, crispy on the outside and potatoey on the inside. Really great fry though could also benefit from some more seasoning/salt (or at least have salt packets by the ketchup packet). Overall it was tasty and hit the spot while enjoying some beers and sours.

My homie knew of this food truck that's at the back of Narrative Fermentation brewery. This was one of the many brew spots we hit up that night. The burgers "slaps" thank me later. Almost everyone with us got the hellapeno burger. You can't go wrong with a burger cooked on a flat top, but it had a touch of sweetness and it hit. Their sauce was also banging. They ran out of napkins which was needed because I was throwing their sauce in almost every bite and with the waffle fries. I would def come back for another burger it was that good. I would say it's in the top tier of best burgers from a food truck I've had..

So lip smacking good!! My brother and sister in law wanted to try this spot out and mentioned Smack Burgers would be in San Jose on Saturdays at the local brewery so we had to stop by at Narrative Fermentations. Parked in the front lot and walked through the brewery outback to the food truck. There's seating inside the brewery with picnic seats and high boy tables. Super nice to grab a drink from Narrative Fermentations and munch on the burgers. I got the Hellapeño burger: 2 patties, pepperjack cheese, grilled onions, pork bacon, jalapeños, onion rings, smack sauce, mikes hot honey, made it a box set which comes with a drink and waffle fries. I don't usually go for burgers and oh, my gosh, this was so good! The burger was meaty, crispy, spicy and the hit of hot honey was perfect! Drooling, as I'm writing this review, thinking about when I can get another one

When my friends told me about Smack Burgers, it was touted as the best burger in the South Bay. That's high praise, so you know I had to investigate. Smack Burgers is a food truck that specializes in smash burgers. They have several types of burgers available, but it is otherwise a pretty simple menu. FOOD We decided to try a Baydestrian, which is a regular smash burger, and the Bacon Smeeze, which is a bacon smash burger. We got one of these as a box, which has the burger, fries, and a drink, and one of these standaone. The burgers were both pretty good, but I was not blown away by them; I've had better smash burgers in the Bay Area. I did eat these about 15 minutes after I got them though, so that could be a factor, but if you were getting these delivered, then they'd be in a similar condition. If I had to eat it there, then that's also a problem because the reason we waited was because there is no seating in the area, so we went somewhere else public to eat them. We did get a random passerby that asked us where we got them, and I don't blame them because these smell and look great, but I wish they tasted just as good. Burgers are okay sized, wish they were bigger though. Waffle fries were great though and there aren't many places that serve waffle fries. SERVICE You can either place your order online or you can order at the truck. I recommend putting in your order online so that you can pick up the food when you get there. I did have to wait a bit after I got there, so it's definitely the best option if time is of the essence. You'll get a text when your order is ready, but you can always just ask them when you get there. No issues with the service. COST A box is just shy of $20, depending on the burger, before tax. Burgers are generally about $12 each, so if you want the side and drink, the box is the better deal especially since you get a good amount of fries. As mentioned above, standalone burgers are on the pricier side especially for the size. Get the box if you can so you can get your value. SETTING So here's my biggest pet peeve about food trucks: inconsistent schedules. Smack Burgers is usually open once a week, usually on Saturday. Burgers aside, that alone disqualifies it from being called the best burger in the South bay. You can't be the best if it's impossible to get. They post their schedule on their Instagram, so if you want to make sure they are open, check that before you plan on getting on Smack Burger. They are usually located outside of a brewery. Parking lot is medium sized; didn't have any issues parking, but if it's busy, especially in the summer, it might be a bit difficult. While this is outside of a brewery, the brewery has signs posted that you cannot sit at their tables unless you are a customer of the brewery. So, you'll have to either eat it in the parking lot or take it to go. Overall, I'm unimpressed with Smack Burger. The burger is good, but it cannot be called the best in the South Bay. With the inconsistent scheduling and the price tag, unless you are a burger aficionado, you can look elsewhere. But, if you'd like to try it, make sure you check their schedule! 3.25/5
