I feel bad but damn it's bomb and you can get it in taco form a la Nayarit-style Lechon Tacos which I didn't even know was a thing until now. Opening in August is Tacos el Líder, a taco truck specializing and serving one thing only: Nayarit-style Lechon Tacos. They're the only place in the Bay serving this and there's nothing else on the menu. Cash only! L O C A T I O N FoodMaxx Plaza in E Man Jose. H O U R S Open on the weekends only from 4 pm - 11 pm. L E C H O N T A C O S The Nayarit-style Lechon Tacos ($3.50 each) consist of double corn tortillas topped with diced lechon (roasted suckling pig), cabbage, and a nayarit salsa that's mustard based. Served with a side of crispy lechon skin. We put the crispy lechon skin inside the taco before devouring. The result? Soft tortillas topped with meltingly soft and juicy lechon with rich, glass shatteringly crunchy skin. The spicy mustard based salsa was zesty with a nice punch of heat (not too spicy but they also have mild available). Requested no cabbage so I can taste the pure pork. Bomb and hits so different! We went back for seconds so enuff said. S E R V I C E Friendly and prompt. Got there before opening so no line. Shortly after, a line formed. A M B I A N C E Food truck in a plaza parking lot with one four-top table for dine-in. P A R K I N G Easy parking in the plaza. An excellent taco spot serving just one kind of taco; it's a limited selection, but the pork is excellent (and something I've never tried anywhere else). It's a food truck in East San Jose, hidden along with a group of other food trucks off an alley, so service is exactly what you expect. But the taco is excellent and original. A strong recommend.

Was excited to try this place after visiting their page on Instagram. And after seeing reviews but me and my husband were very disappointed. We ordered tacos de lechón. The tacos were cold! The tortillas were not cooked through. They are supposably Al vapor but they hard & raw. Also the lechón was cold did not have any flavor tasted just like shredded stringy meat. We also ordered a tripa taco with our order and it was also cold no flavor. Won't be coming back here!

I found them at 1948 Alum Rock. I'm not sure if they're always there now, or if they split their time between there and the 1815 Monterey Hwy location (which is currently listed on this Yelp page). I'd suggest checking their Instagram before you go. The tacos were packed with meat and not at all greasy. I appreciate that they're also generous with the salsa. (I got two 4oz containers--one mild, one spicy--with my four tacos.) Unless you go during off-hours, I'd suggest parking on the street. There's a parking lot, but it's a total sh*tshow when crowded. There's only one entrance/exit and people park on both sides of most of the lane in/out, which makes two-way traffic really hard. And if end of the lot is full (and especially if a bunch of *ssholes decide to double park in that area) you'll need to be a really good driver with a small car or you'll be reenacting Austin Powers' 3(0)-point turn to turn around. And if people keep driving in (you kinda can't tell it's a clusterf*ck until it's too late), it makes it almost impossible for people leaving to get out. I got really lucky and found a space right at the mouth of the driveway. When I left, there was a car patiently waiting and leaving space for others to exit (while a whole line of cars in front of them were trying to force their way further into the lot). I ended up knocking on their window and telling them to back up and take my space. Karma! Sorry for ranting more about parking than praising the tacos. The tacos really were delicious!!! (But the lot/people in it really were that bad!)
