# The Barbeque Pit – Authentic BBQ Restaurant in San Jose, CA
The Barbeque Pit, located in San Jose, CA, is a beloved BBQ restaurant known for its authentic American barbecue experience. Established in a remodeled space that once housed the Burger Pit, this eatery has quickly become a local favorite. We put in an order for our reunion picnic at Almaden Lake for 50 people. It was easy to set and they stayed in contact with us via email. The food was scheduled to be delivered at 12:30. it arrived at 12:25. The employees set everything up and made sure we had everything we ordered. It arrived hot and everyone loved it! I will certainly use them again when we do our picnic.

We ordered our food over the internet for pickup. So we don't have too much to say about the service except that everything was ready exactly on time and was still hot when we got it home. The pork ribs were excellent with tender meat that peeled off the bones clean and great flavor. The burnt ends were perfect, flaky with good chew and rich seasoning with a good sweetness to the sauce. The brisket was also full of smoky flavor and cooked perfectly to be tender but still hold its shape well. As for sides, I recommend the coleslaw, beans (strong chili seasoning), garlic bread, and corn bread. Sadly the Mac and Cheese was more like Mac and cream sauce -- it needs more cheese. This is now my top rated BBQ place in San Jose. I'm looking forward to more visits and trying the rest of the menu.

I am not the biggest fan of barbecue ever since my teeth became soft, but I can tell you this place was packed on a random weeknight, full of happy people, served by a bustling team. I liked the selection, which is varied but not overwhelming. I liked the service. I liked the patio option. I liked that the place was generally dark, a rarity. The prices seemed okay. The cole slaw (crunchy, not creamy), fries (fat but limp), brisket (lean, well-cooked, flavorful), and cornbread (which needed the honey and butter) were good. Not amazing, but good enough to consider getting my teeth sharpened.

The Tri tip was tough and too salty. Beans were bland and not cooked enough. Cornbread was flat, greasy and weird tasting. It's tasted like Texas toast mixed with cornbread. Potato salad had no flavor. The only thing that was ok was the coleslaw.

Checked The Barbeque Pit, located in same building as the old Burger Pit. The restaurant looked great and very clean. Love that they have a lot of outside eating areas. Inside they have big screen TV's to watch a game. The service was excellent. We had a few questions and they answered with a smile. We got the 3pc combo and favorite thing was the Brisket by far. The chicken was good, but I thought the Tri-tip was average. As for the sides, the baked potato was very good, but sadly the Mac & Cheese and the Coleslaw were subpar. I think next I go, I will get a Brisket sandwich for sure. Being in the old Burger Pitt location, it would have been cool if they had a Steer burger on the menu for a bit of nostalgia.

I frequent their other locations (santa cruz, gilroy) and was super disappointed at this location. First off, the bbq chicken sandwich we ordered had two pieces of chicken bones in it. They need to be a bit more careful when deboning the left over chicken! I cannot imagine a small child eating that sandwich! I chose chicken and brisket for my 2 meat plate. The chicken was pretty small as you can see next to the mint they give you. Almost as if they cut off half of the breast for other things. I forgot to take a picture of my baked potato. There is a $3.00 uncharge which was fine... but damn, give me the whole potato! They cut it in half and of course, it was over-baked. Having been a regular customer at their other locations, I knew what to expect. I was excited for this san jose location because I live nearby. Greed will disturb your new location and will prevent customers from returning. I understand you need to cut costs somewhere, but this is ridiculous!

American BBQ done right This is a great place to catch up with a group of friends! Casual, but nice interior Service was nice! I wasn't sure which meat to get and they explained some of the options for me. I went with brisket because I wanted a lil fattier cut versus tri tip. Something unique here is that they give pickled onions/jalapeno with your bbq! As for sides, the fries and cornbread were just ok. I wish I upgraded and got a baked potato like my friend - it was huge and looked good! They have a cool Stubborn soda machine and I liked their sauces!

We went for my nephews birthday in a weekend. Luckily we went early because it was a popular place. We found a spot outside that would accommodate 8 of us as the tables inside were already taken. You order first and then they deliver the food to your table. The inside was decorated barn style and was large and charming. Food was pretty good. I have to say that it is the best in San Jose for now. I do give it a plus for the brisket and Mac and cheese. We also got a second order of cornbread. Overall: if you are looking for a good bbq place, this is a good one

I'll always miss the prior establishment here, but since they left, The Barbeque Pit is a good replacement. The restaurant has been nicely remodeled, and the menu is good. The Mac and Cheese is particularly tasty. It would be nice if they had burgers on the menu also, but I can always find something good to eat here.

Wow we didn't know such gem existed right in our neighborhood - the meat tender flavorful and the smokiness is legit. Come in for a great American BBQ experience and it truly wouldn't disappoint. Recommend brisket and baby back ribs, the burnt ends were dry for some of the pieces.
