Went for a family birthday celebration and we were all pleasantly surprised by the quality and portion size! Given you can spend this much on a mediocre meal in the Bay Area, the prix fixe menu is reasonably priced and every dish was executed well. Great place for a nice dinner. I noticed people could also dine at the bar and might try that next visit!

We celebrated our anniversary at Selby's and it was special. The restaurant is very romantic and relaxing with nice music playing. The staff was really welcoming and attentive. Ben our server was very good and so was his assistant. We had the Heirloom tomato salad, Konbu-braised Monterey Bay Abalone, Dirty Girl Cauliflower with Alba White Truffles, Wild King Salmon and, Robuchon mashed potatoes, Maine Lobster Fondant and finished with Profiterole, Midnight Chocolate Cake. Everything was delicious except for the Wild King Salmon, which was overcooked.
They did give us an anniversary card, dessert, and chocolates, which we really appreciated.

Great service, with the exception of being charged $12 for water (ask for tap water!).
Beef Wellington was fine, but not worth the extra $25. Duck was very nice.

I had a decent dining experience at Selby's. I decided to try it out after having a great dinner at its sister restaurant, the Village Pub, a while back. Selby's does not quite hit the spot for me like Village Pub did. Food is delicious, but I find it quite problematic that the expensive white asparagus are fibrous and not tender at all. They are probably the worst white asparagus that I have had. Fortunately, the other dishes are delicious and carry the dinner through. Wine list is impressive. Service is attentive. My waiter is quite humorous and entertaining. However, next time that I crave this kind of fine American food, I will most likely go to the Village Pub.

We went our anniversary dinner and everything was great about the place, service was awesome, I think they have wished us several times for our anniversary. Complementary appetizer, dessert and a card. I loved the food as well and champagne was excellent.
