Came by while waiting for our matcha next door. Staff was so sweet, got the hojicha sesame crumble cake to try and two madeleines to-go. They have such amazing options of traditional Korean flavors for their desserts (i.e. sweet corn cheesecake, injeolmi crumble cake, goguma sponge cake, and a seasonal fig sponge cake) I wanted to try them all!!! The presentation of all their desserts are also beautiful and we like how they're not too sweet- iykyk. Cafe is small with about 4 tables but very cute. Will definitely be back!

We stopped by on a Sunday about half an hour before closing to grab a slice of cake to see if we wanted to order a whole one for my son's upcoming birthday. There was just one slice of strawberry cake left, so we took it home to try. The cake itself was pretty good--not overly sweet, which I liked--but I wish it had more strawberries since the pieces were sliced quite thin. It also had a bit of that "fridge" taste, so it might've been sitting for a bit. Overall, though, you can tell the cake is made with quality ingredients, and I'd be open to trying it again fresh. Sorry, no picture as my son went after the cake slice as soon as we got home.

***USP: small locally owned Korean/Asian style patisserie with a very limited menu. ***AMBIANCE: place might look tiny compared to other bakeries like tous le jours, Paris baguette and 85c. Menu is extremely limited as well. They have less than 5 tables for indoor dining. ***FOOD: we picked up a few cookies and a slice of cake with one of the cute candles they had for sale at the checkout counter. Priced at $5 per cookie and $8 for a slice of cake, it seemed expensive but one bite into the pillowy goodness and I was in love. The cake was perfection, not too sweet thanks to the tart fresh strawberries. The cookies were ginormous as well and worth the $5 apiece price tag.

I was genuinely excited to try this place, especially after having some of the best pastries in Korea earlier this year, but unfortunately, the items we got didn't live up to expectations. The matcha cookie didn't taste like matcha at all and was noticeably dry. The injeolmi cake also missed the mark. It was dry and a bit dense. I think it was missing an acidic/tart component that may have helped balance the flavor as well. The options seemed good and pretty, but I can't recommend the 2 items that I ordered. Also, just a heads-up: not uncommon, but worth noting: outside food and drinks aren't allowed, so you can't bring in your matcha from next door, which was actually the reason we ended up in this plaza in the first place.

Hard not to want to try everything at Gu-eum! Tried their Earl Gray Latte, which comes with an adorable Earl Gray ice bear resting on top of a fluffy cloud of cream. It was almost too cute to drink! If you like thick and luxurious drinks, this is a good choice. The pastries are just as good, with delicious madeleines and cakes that have Asian-inspired flavors. The only downside is parking, which on a weekend, is a bit tricky since it's right next to a busy McDonald's, but honestly, highly recommend if you're looking for a cafe that's creative, charming, and flavorful!

I can't gatekeep this place anymore. Since this place blew up on social media, every-time I visit there are no empty tables and it's pretty noisy. The place itself is quite small with no restroom, no public WiFi, 3 tables, a bench, and maybe 3 wooden stools. Although it is quite frustrating that I have to wait for a table and turn on noise cancelling to tune out the loud yappers, it is very nice seeing this small family owned shop get the business it deserves. The girls who run the cashier are always so sweet and willing to give you recommendations based on your personal preferences. Now onto the food. Sometimes the cakes sell out by the end of the day since they're only put out in the morning. I admit I haven't tried as much of the menu as I would have liked so I will review the stuff I have tried so far. * Black Sesame Latte: 8.5/10 quite sweet and earthy if you're into black sesame desserts you'll like this * Korean Yam Sponge Cake: 8/10 light, airy, sweet, a weee bit dry but it probably was just sitting in the stand for too long * Jeju Green Tea Latte: 7/10 I'm quite picky with my matcha so this is good. I'd never seen a green tea latte sourced from Jeju! * Tiramisu Latte: 8.5/10 sweet and sooo yummy, is pretty strong and I'm caffeine sensitive so it gave me the zoomies take that as you will * Injeolmi Crumble Cake: 8.5/10 if you must only get one thing, it's her * Bear Earl Grey Latte: 9/10 just for the iced Mr. Bear coffee who melts into your tea latte, also sweet and delicious * Chocolate Gateaux Cake: 5/10 quite dry and dense, the whipped cream on top saved this piece Not pictured: * Fresh Mango Sponge Cake: 10/10 my favorite one I've tried so far. I'm so sad it's only seasonal. The mangoes were so sweet and ripe oh my goodness I felt like I was at Hui Lau Shan.

Got 2 cake slices to go because have heard of this place from Korean friends. I love a good basque cheesecake so got one of those and then got their noteworthy sweet potato cake. 3 stars only because the basque cheesecake was inedible. The sweet potato cake slice was fantastic - fresh cream was buttery yet light and the sweet potato was not too sweet and not too chunky. Basque cheesecake was so sour and had not exterior burnt flavor I felt I was eating cheese without any sugar. I gagged while eating it which I've never done before. The consistency is also too soft - I think cheesecake needs to be denser. Their recipe needs improvement. Slices are $8 each. I would go back but now need to hope I don't pick a dud flavor. They have an injeolmi slice that looked good too as well as pistachio, grape slices.

Stopped by this bakery while in town and had to grab a few items from all the options! This place was so cute and had such delicious looking treats. I really wanted more than I got but ended up with a slice of hojicha sesame crumble cake, injeolmi heok madeleine, and a yakgwa financier. My favorite of the bunch was definitely the madeleine and financier. The madeleine was covered with the roasted soybean powder and was soft when bitten into. The financier was covered with a honey syrup that also soaked in as well. Both were gone in a few bites and made me wish I had gotten more! The hojicha sesame crumble cake was okay for me. I felt the hojicha and black sesame flavors could have been stronger (I didn't realize the sesame flavor was only in the crumble; that was on me). Perhaps the cream could have been one of the flavors instead of just regular. But the cake was soft and the cream was fresh, and overall the flavor combo idea was good. The bakery is super cute and clean and the items I got made me want to come back. It was a bit pricey but was a good treat. Would definitely try other things next time too!

Highly recommend this place for cakes. Their cakes are so good. Whichever flavor you'd pick, it is rich in flavor. Worth the price!
