This place is Permanently Closed. Both the Inn and Restaurant have been closed for several years and show absolutely no sign of ever reopening.

This Review is focusing on the restaurant and the staff at Mariani's, San Jose CA. I have not experienced the hotel side. I really like this place! It has been around for many years and since they are now hosting the Peninsula Banjo Band on Wednesday nights, I have become a regular. On Sundays, there is a fabulous Sunday Brunch. The menu has so many options and there is always a nightly dinner special. I have tried several items such as the ribs, salads, desserts, bread, vegetables, potatoes and my favorite-meatloaf. All are very good and the price is fair. Alma and Luis have been my regular servers. Always exceptional in making sure my needs (and others) are met. Restaurant area and banquet room are well maintained and very clean. I Highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a party of 6 and had the prime rib, chicken parmigiana , rib eye steak and a hamburger. We had the calamari appetizer. We loved it all. Waiting for out dessert and coffee.

This hotel is pretty great for a lot of reasons. I took several pictures to show you that it's a good size room and comfortable, it has lots of pantry space and a nice little dining area, as well as clean bathrooms. I like that you could stay here for long term if you really wanted to. Or needed to. I didn't try the restaurant because previous reviews led me to believe it is a buffet, and I don't like that. The only reason they didnt get 5 stars is because the maid came at 8:50 or 9 to check on the room. Checkout is at 11. Now, this may seem like a small matter, especially since Sheryle and I were already up. But this really isn't a small matter., some people have to work late, most people at a hotel are probably on vacation, some people have small children or babies. For 101 reasons people may need to sleep in. I understand that they have a lot of rooms to hit and want to get an early start, but they are not considerate of their guests by having the maid come around early. Also, they are not considerate to the maid, since she then has to deal with people being frustrated about her being there early, and that's not fair to her. All in all, it's a great place, and if you don't mind that it's a buffet you get 15% off breakfast.

Mariani's Restaurant was nearly empty at noon on Tuesday, which was not a good sign. I asked the waiter about his preference for two specific dishes. His reply: "I do not eat here" gave me a very negative impression of the quality of this restaurant. I ordered the French dip beef sandwich and I thought the quality of the beef was mediocre. So I did not even finish the sandwich. The French fries were good as was the catsup. One friend ordered a chicken pasta lunch. She liked it. I tasted the chicken and it was too dry. I cannot recommend Mariani's Restaurant and I doubt that I will return.

Talk about blast from the past. This place has not changed from the 60s im sure. Im talking Mad Men era but not in a fancy way. But dont let a book fool you from the cover. If you park to the left be prepared to walk all the way around.,we were super young compared to the average patron. Lots of bday large parties for lunch it seems. When your cakes only have one candle you know they stopped tracking. :) I keed. Got the calamari steak with rice and the co workers got the burgers. Super good! Burgers are charcoal grilled and the calamari was super tender, well breaded and had a light caper sauce. Surprising. Service is friendly and they take care of you. Certainly a little hidden gem if you want nostalgic Italian American dining

This review is a bit delayed but this is on Easter Brunch (buffet) at the 2pm seating. It just poured rain and folks were running in. Lobby was slippery. Should have been a sign of things to come. Overall, Not the same array of Easter buffet offerings. I feel like Marianis took away the quantity of salad offerings and desserts. The salad area was a bit sparse. At least cover white tablecloths with palm leaves. Dessert was plentiful, but found many nearly empty or empty trays. Overall the same breakfast and brunch items. Some dishes under the buffet steamers were a bit over cooked and salty. Prices increased per person as well. For 2, it was $95.xx (this included $36.95/pp and added 20% service charge plus tax) , I think it was 20% this year) One irritating moments was staff was zipping by and we tried to catch attention for beverage refills. Some dishes were overly salted, so we really needed our beverage refills.

Intentionally staying in an unassuming "near historical landmark" inn! Happy decision! An inn that has this far remained a family owned and franchise free! Built eons ago on a fruit/nut farm, hotel has maintained a lot of its feel of reminiscent of yesterday (1950s-60 ish). i refer to Mariani's as "near historical inn" as it has a story to tell. (Will edit this post with their story at future date) Staff is kind and courteous. Complementary breakfast is no more. It's now $9 maybe less if you get a discount. Breakfast is what made his place, with good food and service! Clean rooms but motel style with thin walls and noise from doors and creaky floors. Nice staff and good layout for a motel. Pool and hottub with a BBQ section in adjacent courtyard. Gas fireplace in the lobby give then place a homey feeling. Hot breakfast buffet style well presented, eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausages, and very good French toast. Cereals, OJ, and coffee and tea round out the selections with some pastries and a great selection of sliced fresh fruits. Breakfast is very good for this price range. Well appointed for this price range. Lots of contractors M-F, so you will not be sleeping in as they are up early for that hearty breakfast and out to the contracts! I came back In July and the property is a blooming garden of green with a vast array of colors from the flowering trees and plants. The pool is a allure blue oasis with towering palm trees. I had an upgrade to a suite room, thanks to the day Manager, who promptly fixed a minor room problem. The suites are actually one bedroom apartments with fully equipped kitchens complete with kitchen table for four. Full sized fridge and elective stove and all the items you would need for a home cooked meal. If one had a log stay and did not mind a vintage design for an apartment, think avocado green stove top, then this a high value and relaxing stay!
