Omee.J is one of my top sushi spots in San Jose. Every time I come here, I'm 100% satisfied with the food and service. I've been coming here for a few years now and I usually get the same rolls because they're so good! Last night, I decided to try some new rolls, they were pretty good, but I'll stick to my usual go to rolls such as Someday, Gilroy Garden, and Overtime. Cabo Mark, Hot Mango and Josee are good too!

I really liked this place but when I came here with my sister and 2 kids and they added 20% on the bill and not mentioned anything and on top of the when you are signing the receipt adding another option for 20-22 or 25 % additional, it's ridiculous. Not sure why they automatically added that on the bill. Not coming here anything soon

I've been meaning to try the innovative sushi rolls offered here for ages. My friend and I split two rolls: - the Josee: an insanely unique and flavorful cilantro sauce paired with tuna. As long as you don't have the cilantro soap gene you should get this as I've never had this herb paired with sushi before - Tropicana: I don't normally go for fruit sushi but the mango sauce on top was flavorful but not too sweet. The actual mango in the center of the roll was unripe as usual, but you can't win everything with fruit in a restaurant Logistics: - indoor seating only - strip mall parking in front but spots are limited and compact. Not for long trucks!

Our party of 9 ordered 2 separate times and our waitress was so great with taking our orders and getting our food out. She refilled water and cleared table midway through. Kudos to the sushi chefs too for working quickly to accommodate the whole restaurant. This was our order: * 2 sashimi platter * 10 pieces fusion nigiri * 6 orders unagi * 1 Salmon apple onion nigiri * 1 Cajun/fusion Tuna nigiri * Gilroy Garden * Rainbow roll * Lexi roll * Rosemary * Hot mango * Hawaii Poke * Z Roll * USS Albacore * Sweet & Spicy * Someday Everyone enjoyed all the sushi rolls and sashimi. My favorites were the unagi nigiri and 10 piece fusion nigiri. A lot of the rolls seem to have spicy tuna as a base filling so it gets redundant for me after a few different pieces. Restaurant was very loud and hard to hear each other. Our favorite restaurant still reigns even though we were hoping to add this to our repertoire. Unfortunately, the consensus is this restaurant is just okay for us.

3.5 stars - I wanted to try new sushi place locally and went to Omee J due to higher rating compared to other sushi restaurant in the area. The service and ambience were welcoming. I ordered the spicy scallops roll and dragon roll which was good but the omakase nigiri needs some seasoning. It was mediocre for the price. Not sure if I will be coming back. Will have to try other spots in the area.

Time for an update. Same great friendly staff, always fresh and delicious food. I come here a few times a month even by myself for a nigiri pick me up. Don't sleep on the roasted seared albacore nigiri! Thank me later

I came here by recommendation of a friend. It was a bit unassuming- did not expect it to be in a strip by an auto mall but here we are. It's next to a bar and a massage place so the outside aesthetic leaves a lot to be desired but inside is sleek and black and nice. It was not busy at 6 pm on a Wednesday with me and one other party but it picked up shortly after that. The service was quick and efficient. For food I ordered a big daddy roll and a California roll. The California roll was standard and nothing to write about but the big daddy was...wow, exceptional. One of the best rolls I've ever had, if not the best. It was sweet, slightly spicy, and with a crunch. Filling and left you excited for your next bite. I will definitely be back for this roll and to try more with a group next time.

It has been awhile since my last update! I came here for a large birthday dinner. My friend had made a reservation for about 20 of us. The restaurant set up our table in the corner near the front of the restaurant. Food: Food, as always, was great. I ordered veggie tempura dinner. The vegetable tempura was super crispy. It has a much better crunch here since it is breaded instead of battered. Service: Service for such a large party was really great. We had multiple servers tend to the table. The food came out as it was ready for the most part. Everyone was very friendly and excited to celebrate the birthday girl. TL;DR - Great sushi restaurant and was great for hosting our large party!

While walking around Valley Fair, I was craving a little sushi and it's one thing I can mention that won't get any resistance from the girlfriend. I wanted to check out some place new. So we went to Omee.J which was right down the street. First of all, while the place does look a little luxurious, you can go in completely casual. I also believe the prices are pretty much what you'd expect from a decent sushi spot, so I think saying this place is "$$$" might be overdoing it. That said, I gotta say it's a bit over priced. I ordered a 10-piece nigiri combo which comes with soup and salad, and because I knew that wouldn't be enough, I also ordered the spicy scallop roll. The nigiri combo was pretty disappointing because I expected bigger pieces. The fish to rice ratio was nice, but overall the size of these things was like 2/3 of what a typical nigiri looks like. With that, there wasn't a whole lot of creativity either. If you look at my, five out of the 10 pieces were topped with a slice of jalapeno. One was red onion. Another was red chili sauce. We can do better than that, guys. On top of that, the spicy scallops weren't spicy nor did I really get the really fresh texture I expect out of a raw scallop. This was pretty much just filler food. I also noticed they had ten-zaru cold soba which I actually love, so I ordered it To-Go along with an eel roll. When we got home, I was disappointed to see that it was just regular soba and not green tea soba. Both my girlfriend and I should share the blame there, but my receipt says ten-zaru and you really have to expect a to-go order to go right especially considering the amount of food we ordered. I want to come back to actually try the green tea soba but this was an overall disappointing experience.

Been here many times. Their rolls and sushi are excellent. They have many rolls to choose from. I tried many other Japanese places and their sushi/rolls still taste the best, and will keep coming back whenever I crave good sushi and rolls.
