Catching the train into the City is my preferred mode of transportation especially when gas prices are a tad ridiculous. Lawrence station is a quieter spot compares to Sunnyvale and since I'm within a 10 min walk from here this is my go-to stop. The drawback is, however, Caltrain has cancelled stops on this station on some weekends due to maintenance/repairs. That is a tad annoying, but not like it's the end-of-the-world or anything. I prefer riding Caltrains over BART because their cars are cleaner, even the toilets aren't disastrous monstrosities. And, with my employer issued Clipper Card, i get 50% off on Caltrains but only 20% on BART. Boo hiss BART.

There's delays. Why? Why does taking public transit in the US have to suck so much? No communication, just a delay time that keeps growing and growing. I just wanna go home.

Traveling on a Saturday afternoon from San Jose to San Francisco via the Caltrain system is incredibly straightforward and easy to navigate. I love that you can purchase your trainfare via mobile app! The Lawerence station is clean, there are a few shaded areas you can stand under going North bound ( San Francisco), but other than that it is your typical train station with two Caltrain ticket purchasing machines and one Clipper ticket purchasing machines. It's incredible that for $10.50, it's a one way trip into San Francisco, you bypass all the traffic on the road, and get fairly decent view of a variety of scenery. I was able to get on at 2:49 PM and estimated arrive at San Francisco at 4:22 PM. There is a Baby Bullet Express train that runs once in the morning and another early evening. The train cars reminds me of the Chicago Metra, so overall experience, it's a great way to travel from bay to bay if you have some time to spare and did not rent a car/UBER.

Decent station if you know how to get to it. It's kind of an unusual location for a station, since it's not really that close to a lot of businesses or residences. Traffic due to Costco can be a hassle, but not a major impediment. The only reason why I don't use this station more is because of the pricing difference between the Lawrence and Sunnyvale stops. They are in different zones, so if you're heading up to San Francisco (the direction that I always go), you pay more. Obviously, if your travels take you south, then this would be logical choice over Sunnyvale.

What do I remember most about this station? Freezing my rump off because there's barely any weather cover. It's one of the simplest stations with the least amount of fanfare and the least amount of covered seating. It's a horrid station to wait at as you're basically exposed to all the elements because what little awning they do have doesn't do much in the scheme of things for cold wind, rain or incredible amounts of sun. I usually prefer to just get dropped or spend the extra time and go to Dirdion. Saves me annoyance and general displeasure.

I've only used Cal Train twice in my life, and both have been from here to SF. its right next to Costco, a bit hidden, and I would've liked to have gone from the Sunnyvale station since its closer and $2 cheaper (hehe) but the timing wasn't right. Not a whole lot of seating area if you're waiting for the train, and I believe parking is $4. Still, a great way to get to and from the City, especially if you take the express one that skips a lot of stops and gets you to the last exit near AT&T park in exactly an hour. Cal Train is much cleaner than Bart I feel, and there were hardly any people on a Friday evening.

I almost never take this station but when I do it's a bit of a hassle. It's the same for picking people up or dropping off. During a rush hour, getting in and out just sucks because of the street and add Costco to the mix you've got mass gridlock in a small area.

If you're commuting north with a bike, Lawrence is great in the mornings because there's always space for your bike. I've seen bikers at the Sunnyvale station get told that the bike car is full and they'll have to wait for the next train. There are about 7 benches on each side. The overpass goes right over the train tracks, which provides some shelter from sun or wind. I take the Mission Shuttle from here, which always waits until both the NB and SB trains have arrived, so don't fret if your train is a few minutes late!
