I came to UlavacharU for their weekend lunch buffet -- and left already planning my next visit. The variety was impressive, but it was the authenticity and bold flavors that really stood out. From biryanis to curries to fresh dosas, everything tasted like it was made with heart and tradition. As someone who isn't Indian, I wasn't sure what to expect walking in -- but the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. They were kind, helpful, and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing the dishes and answering questions. I felt completely comfortable and appreciated. The Babycorn Manchuria was crispy and addictive, the Okra Pulusu was tangy and comforting, and the Tandoori Chicken was perfectly charred and juicy. I also loved the desserts -- especially the Pineapple Kesari and the Boondi Laddu, both of which were the perfect sweet finish. UlavacharU offers a true taste of South India, and the buffet is a fantastic way to explore it all. Authentic, delicious, and full of heart -- can't recommend it enough.

We did a catering order with Ulavacharu and worked with Jess. 1. He offered a discount for cash on the phone and it was not communicated to the team at pickup. We had to then get into a he said she said at pickup 2. The pickup time was communicated as 3-3:30. While we were on our way to pickup the food, we get a call from them at 2:57 and the lady says 'we are closing in 1 minute - pls come and pick up your food'. Apparently Jess had miscommunicated and this lady was very eager to 'go on her break' and was acting super impatient even though we were on time based on the window communicated to us 3. They forgot about 1 dish in the order. We had ordered a fried okra on the phone. They sent us an order confirmation and we should have double checked it - the confirmation did not include the okra - we should have caught it but I do know we included the okra when we placed the order on the phone Food itself was good. We have never had issues with catering in the past - something was totally off this time. Very unprofessional staff.

Only reviewing selected items based on today's catering. -Konaseema Chicken Fry: very confusing looking dish as I stared at a glop of darkness in the tray. Just couldn't tell what is in there, neither could I know if I was picking up the chicken or the seasoning spices. And why is most of the Indian meat dishes always have bones (except butter chicken or the Tikka Masala)?? Positive note is the dish smelled aromatic and tasted strong but good seasoning yet a bit too much heat for me. -Chicken Tikka Masala: I almost thought we got soup! A flap tray of sauce and I had to fish around scraping to the bottom to find a few pieces of meat! Otherwise, it tasted just like any other tikka masala. -Naan bread is a bit dry and thin, not too fluffy or soft. I had better ones. So I'm still not impressed with Indian food.

I went for a weekday buffet to this place. They have a rich mango lassi and chai. Along with a great selection of veg and non veg dishes plus chutneys. I enjoyed the South Indian egg curry and pongal a lot. They bring fresh naan's to your table. If you like paan, this one is very good. The ambiance is not much to speak off - the people serving us were nice - we went during lunch hour - so had to flag their attention to get the naan's on the table.

Service Prompt service, mostly polite wait staff. Adorable and polite cashier Price I'm not sure if it was on the high side for the location. It was $26.70 for an appetizer, a main and a beverage. Still, fair price for the food. Ambience It was not fully packed, but it was lively. There was no wait time and there was ample room for seating m, especially for this solo diner Food quality It was great! The front desk person at the nearby hotel referred me to this place and gave me an order suggestion. They were not wrong! It was a delicious and enjoyable experience. Hygiene Clean! The table, the floor, the seats and the serving utensils and plates. Not sure what the back of the house looked like, but the front was in a highly presentable condition. This was a 4.5 out of 5! Would highly recommend

My husband and I LOVE this place! It's always poppin' when we stop by (especially when it's the buffet or unlimited thali). Many of the dishes are gluten-free, so there are plenty of options if you're celiac or gluten intolerant. The prices are really affordable for the amount of food you get, and the Indian food is some of the best you'll eat in the Bay. Don't sleep on this place.

I've been here multiple times for lunch, and the lunch buffet never fails. The restaurant seems to rotate dishes occasionally, but consistent dishes are tandoori chicken, butter chicken, and saag paneer. I think given its buffet style, I was surprised that the food is consistently good. I will say the butter chicken is a bit sweeter than I've had at other Indian restaurants (a little sweetness is good, but the butter chicken curry is a bit too sweet for me here), but everything else is pretty solid. I love that they have chai and mango lassi on tap & both are pretty solid. There's a pretty good selection and there's plenty of vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Have come here multiple times and would definitely come back when I'm craving a plethora of Indian food. Staff seem pretty friendly and are happy to bring my table naan (although usually have to ask). The restaurant is almost always packed so if coming with a big group a reservation might be good. Parking has never been an issue as they have a dedicated lot.

Late post so I don't know if they still have $0.10 beer. The mango lassi was thick and not too sweet, just the way I like it. The baby corn Manchuria stood out for me- battered and fried baby corn with a sweet sauce. Their chicken in some sort of green rub was tender and delicious. The garbanzo bean dish with a dense flat cake made of lentil(?) was also delicious. They have $0.10 cent beer?!? That's insane! And who knew beer goes so well with Indian food. This place can get packed and really warm on a hot day. People seemed to have no problems cutting in front of you in the long buffet line. The food and beer is worth coming back for though!

The biryanis(both veg and non veg) quality of rice , spices used has been drastically reduced. Its just taste more like pulao than "BIRYANI". Also not sure why the price has been increased with such kind of pathetic food taste. I hope this will help you to improve your Biryani taste and standards.

Weirdly scruffy space but I don't mind. My veg thali was insane and they came by to offer free mini dosas and other treats. The TV happened to be playing Tips' YouTube channel with top hits of the '90s (the best era for Hindi music). An altogether lovely time.
