The transit system in Hartford area is decent I will say but sometimes the website is a PITA. I did a one day pass & they had a special bus designed route for certain routes to alleviate traffic & with the pass it's very tech savvy in my opinion.

ct transit replaced route 45, six months ago!!! but the clowns refuse to remove its map and schedule from their website. does anyone actually work there??? ct transit added some new routes twelve months ago. yet the same clowns refuse to add those routes to the local system map. despite eleven months of complaints that they're still missing!!!

The route 50 bus line in bloomfield Connecticut is the worst! I've been late for work twice and now the line is over 25 minutes behind. Get an Uber!

What a pleasant ride from downtown Hartford to Farmington Ave and mountain rd. I asked my driver his name so I could let his employer know what a great job he did. Thank you Eli I wish all my trips were with you

During this day and age, I've found myself with a lot less money, and not many places to go that aren't local. With that being said, I've cut down on driving my personal vehicle and have started utilizing the local CT Transit buses, primarily in Bristol, but also in the Plainville/New Britain/ Hartford area, too, for my transportation needs. The local routes I frequent (502, 541, 542) are all operated by friendly and caring drivers. I can't imagine being a city bus driver is an easy or stress free job, but all the local drivers drive their routes very professionally and have no attitude when it comes to helping riders find their route or connection. They're also very patient with the elderly and disabled riders, always being helpful with getting them boarded on safely. If they see one of their usual riders walking to the bus, especially elderly/disabled/or with little kids, they'll kindly wait for them. And if the driver doesn't notice but someone on board does, they tell the driver and the driver will actually stay. The drivers are decent with driving- this isn't "Speed" here. They do, however, have a problem with getting to stops on time. If the ridership is low, some drivers will fly past stops, which messes up the schedule for all the future stops, making the bus sometimes pass 5 or more minutes too early. I definitely recommend making it to any bus stop with 5-10 minutes to wait, as this is a real problem, and I have found myself waiting out in the heat for an extra hour, or walking 4 miles to my destination because the bus drove by too early. It's definitely a lesson learned. The best drivers, however, know to slow themselves down. Sometimes they'll pull over to the side of the road for an extra minute or two here and there to fix their timing. I totally appreciate that. Recently, the buses started using the front door again. They stopped and were using the back door only for several months during COVID. Now, all the seats are open again, and the driver now has a plexiglass shield guarding them from those on the opposite side of the fare box. The blue buses themselves are ok- the new ones are very nice- offering wifi and USB charging ports. They're not luxurious by any means, but they seat quite a few people. There's also standing room, but I've only seen the bus get busy enough that someone had to stand once. The Green FasTrak buses are a little fancier than the local blue ones, as they're geared for the commuter class- who are a little wealthier and travel for a little bit longer. The seats are a bit more cushioned and separated, the bike rack is inside the bus versus the racks in front. There is WiFi on these buses but I haven't seen the USB ports. If they're on the new blue buses, I imagine they'd be on these ones too. As for cleanliness, they're buses. For covid time, the drivers are ensuring riders wear masks, which is great. Supposedly they sanitize more, but who knows. There's an issue with occasional food trash littering the seats and aisles, the worst offender being canned sardines in hot sauce (WHY!). As for the crowd, it really depends on when I go. Morning time when people go to work or their early AM doctors appointments is pretty full. It's also kinda full around late afternoon when it's time for people to go home for the day. Other than that, there's almost always a wide selection of seats to pick from. All in all, it's an ok service. I wish it were better funded, so there could be benches at their bus stops (maybe that's a city thing?) & so more buses could come around more often, as the once an hour/every other hour thing really stinks. But, considering how it used to be before the improvements, I'd say it's an ok and much needed service. I'd recommend it to everyone who needs a way from point a to point b, for cheap.

On Wednesday, August 1st. at about noon, the female operator of bus number 518 on the outbound 44 route to Garden Street spoke very disrespectful to us as we boarded downtown. Had she not been smiling so hard in the gentleman's face she chuckling with and paying attention to her passengers, she would've noticed the 40lb box of litter and the extra large shopping bag my middle son was carrying, the 2 shopping bags my youngest son was carrying and the 35lb bag of cat food my boys friend was carrying... So her comment of "I'm trying to figure out what the other 2 problem is..." was totally uncalled for. So I replied, "All three of their hands were full, why do you mean the other 2?" As she turns to see the 3 of them placing the items down to come swipe their day passes, she never even attempted admit her wrong. Now I see exactly how my son was attacked by their employee and assisted by the female operator that wasn't "off duty". She(operator of bus 518) needs to be more attentive and mindful of how she speaks to people. I guess the CT Transit hasn't sent their driver's through a refresher course after that televised attack. She needs to have better people skills or just clean the busses, away from the public.

Thank you to two of ur drivers. One who selflessly pointed to where to catch a different bus. In the process, he lost time but was patient with us Deaf folk. The other one was even more gracious and generous. 66F(3127) Yolanda? Or Jolanda? Hard to catch the name. At any rate, she was the driver who ended up being the one taking us to our destination in the first place. Anyway, we got to where we wasted to go and she told us when it was our stop. Then, my wife and I were walking back from eating at a restaurant when a man accosted us for money. He was becoming belligerent. 3127 Y/Jolanda stopped and made sure we were ok and got us out of harms way. Thank you. You are a gem.

I do like the dedicated corridor from New Britain to Hartford. The buses are clean. Seats are uncomfortable. You would think wth all the money spent on this system, they would have equipped the vehicles with charging stations or power outlets!

March 28, 2019 On March 7, 2019 I fell face flat off the Flatbush Avenue, Fast Track Platform. I had a few visible bruises to my left knee and left hand and the wind was totally knocked out of me. I was walking along talking to my sister who was a little ahead of me, and the next thing I know I face flat on the bus drive road. A man picked me up and helped me to a bench back on the platform. My sister helped me get on the next Fast Track bus to my apartment which was a minute away (the next Fast Track platform). I've been requesting to view the video of what happened because I don't remember and I'm getting the screw around. I was told by (Barbara) at CT Transit what someone else say they saw on the video and that I could view it if I made a report to the Police and got a case number. My town of West Hartford Police told me it was a State of CT Police issue (not really an issue) they connected me to State Police I was told to come to Troop H, Washing St., Hartford. I went and sat for an hour before I was seen, two officers spoke to me, I explained what I needed, that played Psychiatrist and Medical Physician telling me it was a mental thing that I don't remember how I fell and that it wasn't a criminal case and I couldn't view the video but that they would view and get back to me. I got this call this morning and a message was left on my phone (unlisted number) that the officer viewed the video. The officer stated that I was pre-occupied talking to my sister and stepped wrong. That may be true, but when Barbara described the video and now with the trooper's description, they each described something that was minor but incorrect in the video. What's really going on? What was on the ground of that video that they don't want me to see (maybe nothing) I just would like to see for myself and then I'll go away.
