"Samba in the rain oh baby, Samba in the rain Let's get down and dirty Don't bother to explain" (Grateful Dead) The folks who staffed the Sambas food truck at the Talcott Mountain Collective get a gold medal in hard work and non-stop action. They were handling the crowd lined up at their truck, while simultaneously delivering huge trays of tacos to parties inside the brewery. Their menu specializes in Brazilian fare - Coxinha (Chicken croquettes), empanadas, tacos, tostones, chicken with fries and a guava sauce, and a Brazilian Stir Fry. I put my money down on that Brazilian Stir Fry. Maccarao Na Chappa ($15) reminded me of a Lo Mein with a Brazilian accent! It was a beauty of a stir fry with noodles, chicken, Brazilian sausage, and vegetables. It blended Brazilian and Asian influences into an absolutely delicious dish with a great sauce that tasted like soy, garlic, and onions. Everything is made to order, so preparation took a while, but the finished product was well worth the wait. Their food truck is a familiar sight around Hartford, and it was a treat to see them out in the Farmington Valley on an outdoor music night.

Had the chance to try out this place as a food truck. I had the X Chicken sandwich it was amazing! Made just like it is in Brazil. Normally I have a X Burger so I had to try out the chicken and it did not disappoint. The chicken was super crispy tender and juicy. The beacon was thick and crisp. The bun was toasted to perfection. If you can fit your mouth around it you know what I mean and will make you want more. This is a traditional late night power sandwich that you will love. Check them out.

Debating on going to trivia... check out the food truck that's going to be there. After looking at the menu and seeing pictures, it was a sure thing we were going to find Sambas Cuisine. We started with the beef empanada, which was so delicious we didn't have time to take a photo. I feel like a good way to judge a Latin-inspired food truck is through their empanadas.. and Chef Izolda's didn't disappoint. Everything that can later followed suit. I had the Fish and Chips and my girlfriend had the Fried Chicken. It was a little bit of a wait, but well worth it. Everything was incredibly fresh, fried and juicy perfection, and packed with flavor. All the sauces were A1 compliments -- the garlic sauce was so good I actually almost fell over when I took my first bite. We stopped to pay our compliments to the chef on the way out and she exuded joy, gratitude, and passion for her craft. We will definitely will return!

Checked out sambas food truck recently at gastropark. Got the fish tacos and the fish and chips . FANTASTIC!!! So much flavor and so much food!!! The fish had such a terrific crunch and zest. Definitely looking forward to checking them out again.

Know Good Food market of food trucks had its last opening on Bartholomew Street. The Carne Frita con Tostones was highlighted on their menu board. I was starved so tried this. The tostones were great and there were five of these big babies right out of the fryer. The carne frita was, however, a different story. The meat was very irregular and real tough. The mayo/ketchup sauce helped but didn't finish [a new one for me].

The food from this truck was both affordable and delicious. I was worried it would be super greasy but it wasn't. Everything was well seasoned. My personal favorite was the Carioca balls which were a meat filled ball breaded and rolls in cinnamon sugar. It was a delicious and unique combination. The woman who was working the truck was super friendly and helpful when we ordered. Remember to bring cash so you can tip your food truck operators.

Food is fantastic! Had the Coxinha aka chicken croquette, generous portion, perfect spice in every bite and the sauce that came with set it off nicely! Also had the beef empanada and was nicely seasoned and perfectly crispy and again a generous portion. My husband had the Brazilian style pork tacos with slaw on top, nice portion slightly less flavor than the other items but over all a well prepared and executed dish. 10/10 would highly recommend, going to try the jibarito sandwich next time along with the frango a passarinho com mandioca!!!!

Despite the large crowd and super long lines at this food truck event, I was still able to get my food accordingly. Man this line was super long yet they're handling all the orders quickly, throughly, and consistently. The lady taking orders was quick and friendly as well. The prices are also relatively cheap for what you get. My meal was the House Special at $12. It consisted of fried pork, yellow rice, vegetables, french fries, lime and sauce. It was absolutely delicious. My 5 to 10 minute wait was WELL worth it and that waiting time is considerably pristine knowing how busy they were. Everything I had in my meal went perfect together and everything was just so familiar. Comfort food at its best, I ate the whole thing not one grain of rice left. Amazing quality, quick/friendly service, tasty food, what is there not to like?

The truck was at Hartford Hospital as part of their World Market Wednesdays. I ordered something I'd never heard of, a Jibarito. The Jibarito is a sandwich made of flattened fried green plantains instead of bread, garlic mayo and a filling of meat, cheese lettuce and tomato. While it sounds like something straight out of another country or territory, supposedly it was actually invented by a Hispanic chef in Chicago. Regardless, it is unique and this version was delicious. It was served with shredded pork today but sometimes with chicken or beef. The only thing I would change is that the lettuce and tomato was hot and a very mushy. Serving the veggies fresh would be much preferred.
