Came for the Haunted Tavern with a group of friends. Spooky stories surrounding the Durham area told by some pretty quirky individuals. We were greeted with the poison Apple martini and enjoyed the show while sipping on the bloodsucker. The killer coconut was my favorite! The haunted Taverntini was thankfully last, but the creamy peanut buttery and chocolate mix was the perfect dessert drink. The drinks were by far the best thing. I'm not sure if the crowd found the stories amusing because of the alcohol, but this was not the paranormal mostly stories I had in mind. This was more of a series of unfortunate events that were told throughout the show.

The room was small but I absolutely beautiful I went for a pop-up show pirates lagoon. The show was fun but there was a lot of gaps between the actual show and them giving out the four rum cocktails that came with it. They said a little story then they took a break and handed out cocktails and they said another little story took a break candid out cocktails they've brought up people from the audience handed out cocktails with another break and then run up some more audience members with the last drink and had them do a contest. I don't know whether that's a fair review on this actual venue because it was rented for this show. The bathroom's in the venue were beautiful and the place was absolutely stunning.

From start to finish, Linda, Judi, and the entire staff treated us like family, pouring their hearts into bringing our unique vision to life. It truly felt like we were the only wedding they were hosting that summer, with their unparalleled attention to detail and genuine care. The venue itself is a breathtaking blend of old-world charm and modern elegance. The original mahogany detailing, hand-painted ceilings, marble pillars, and even the historic bank vault transported our guests to another era--exactly the vibe we wanted for our 1920s-inspired, nontraditional celebration. As our second wedding, we aimed for a relaxed, luxurious supper club atmosphere, and The Society Room delivered beyond our wildest dreams. We brought in vintage furniture--couches, coffee tables, lounge chairs--and created multiple vignettes across the floor, with formal tables at the back but no assigned seating. The result was like stepping into a grand 1920s mansion, and the venue's timeless architecture elevated every moment. The food was nothing short of extraordinary. Our guests are still raving, calling it some of the best they've ever had at a wedding. We opted for specialty chef-manned stations, allowing everyone to graze at their leisure and sample a smorgasbord of culinary delights. The Society Room executed our specific presentation requests flawlessly, ensuring every dish was as beautiful as it was delicious. They also went above and beyond to accommodate our special requests, including assigning dedicated staff to assist our elderly parents, which meant the world to us. Walking through the massive front doors felt like entering another time--an escape from reality into a party like no other. The mezzanine-hosted club DJ kept the dance floor alive, surrounded by stunning florals and lush garden landscapes that complemented our lounge vignettes. The atmosphere was electric, luxurious, and utterly unique, leaving our guests feeling like they'd attended the party of a lifetime. The Society Room didn't just meet our expectations--they delivered on a promise of a night unlike any other. If you're looking for a venue that combines historic charm, modern amenities, and a team that genuinely cares about making your vision a reality, look no further. We can't recommend The Society Room of Hartford enough for creating a wedding day that will live in our hearts forever.

I attended a fall wedding here and the service was incredibly attentive. Staff were professional and didn't miss a beat. The venue itself (partially an old bank) was so unique. The Society Room perfectly juxtaposes elegant grandiosity and warm intimacy.

I only wish I had taken pictures of the stunning interior design here. I attended as a guest of a birthday party and everything was perfect from the parking, the welcoming entry into the event, the appetizers and drinks, dinner and eventually dancing/snacks. We had no idea that this venue even existed, mostly because we rarely go into Hartford for social events and weddings as they all seem to be in the suburbs. The building interior is so beautiful from the high vaulted ceilings, interesting lighting, tasteful fabrics, wood decor in the bar area, and just such an elegant feeling. We will definitely be back soon, either having our own events or hopefully we get invited back to someone else's again!

Finding and booking The Society Room of Hartford was Godsent after being cancelled from another venue due to them closing to the public for a private client (not cool!). The venue is absolutely stunning from top to bottom. It's an old bank and the way they transformed it is nothing I have ever seen before. There is nothing that Melissa, Paula and their team didn't cover at each meeting. They made the process for our wedding seamless and beautiful! The food was amazing(you get to pick) and people are still talking about it after a month! The photobooth vault is amazing! This place is good for all celebrations and I have been spreading the word to those I know who inquired about our experience. If we are still living in CT in 10 years, I think we will have our celebration there! There is a parking lot next to it but you have to pay. For events they use another lot which is free with a voucher.

My experience at the Society Room was was complicated and I appreciate that. That being said, we couldn't imagine our situation would become as difficult as it did. We have wanted to have our wedding there for sometime. We decided to book our wedding for New Year's Eve. We were excited to have the wedding we had been waiting for in the place we had always hoped. We made our deposit, booked a DJ and photographer. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the wedding. We had several deaths in the family including my father and we found out we are pregnant again. We struggled with the thought of canceling but it felt like the best thing to do. It was much less about the money as it was about prioritizing our personal situation. We asked about booking NYE the following year and we were told 150 guest minimum would still be in effect and the cost was going to go up $20 per person. No biggy really but kind of disappointing. We later found out a couple booked the date. (We had not yet submitted the official cancelation form although we understood we were most likely in violation of our original contract.) One of the associates told the couple, "the couple (us) who had booked the date broke up". It was very coincidental that we knew someone who knew the couple who booked the wedding. When my fiancé called to discuss the matter they were apologetic but a partial refund would have been much appreciated.

We attended a wedding in June 2020 and wow, the venue was breathtaking. It fit right into the Prohibition wedding theme. When I was handling business around town, everyone asked where the wedding was going to be and no one had a bad thing to say about the venue.

I had the pleasure of getting married at the society room this past December. Everything went better then I could've ever imagined. The food was delicious, we still have guest three months later talking about the food at our wedding. The society room provided us with service that was above and beyond what we could've ever expected. They were extremely helpful with rescheduling our wedding 2x because of Covid as well as with putting out all the decorations and small details my mom and I had made. I can not recommend this venue enough if you are looking a one of a kind 5 star wedding experience.

Today was my first time at The Society Room in Hartford. I was working a venue there it was a wedding tasting gala. The building is absolutely gorgeous on the inside I have to say. I enjoyed working this venue and cannot wait to go back again the building is absolutely beautiful.
