I dined in about a month ago for dinner with my gf and we had a GREAT experience. We arrived at the time of our reservation and were seated with about 3 minutes. Our server was kind and prompt. We ordered the snapper escoveitch, hakka pork ribs, crispy kale, and sweet plantains. The kale was in the fine/pretty good range tbh but everything else was VERY delicious. Even the coconut rice was amazing. I haven’t ever had white rice that flavorful in the United States. The only minor internal gripe I have is that the fish I got was super bony. That’s not really even a complaint really because I knew that I was getting bone-in fish. If you don’t want bone-in fish, don’t order a whole fried fish lol. I’m honestly just not good at separating the meat from the bone, but there is a way to do it. That meat was packed with flavor though so no regrets lol

Also, we didn’t order it but people on our left and right ordered the jerk wings and seemed to be extremely satisfied with their orders. From the looks of it, the quantity is not massive but that makes it a good appetizer. Anyway, I would recommend this place to anyone with taste buds.

Nice, small, quaint place. My friend and I went on a Fri for lunch. Nico was our host. He was very helpful with the menu and just overall service was superb. Drinks were made by Nico and he did not disappoint. The jerk wings were delicious especially with the dipping sauce that came with them. We also tried the Trini beef pie. He stated it was spicy but we didn't get any spice, it's was still flavorful. My friend did a personal bowl, I think that's what it was called. It came with roti, curried chicken, and chick peas. The dish did not disappoint. I ordered the pepperpot off the dinner menu. It had brisket, beef stew meat, and oxtail. The flavors were great. Personally I would've liked a bit more oxtail, especially since I got all fat from the brisket. We shared the bread pudding. The bread pudding was a bit overcooked. It wasn't most in the middle and very hard on the outside

We traveled here from NC expecting good quality Trini food. First they didn’t have doubles because they were closing early. What’s a Trini restaurant without doubles? We ordered Channa roti, oxtail bowl, and Trini style Chinese chicken. The best thing we had was the channa however it was extremely too salty. The oxtail was no meat and all fat. And they only gave 3 pieces of oxtail. The chicken was overcooked and burned. It started snowing so I guess they were closing early so i felt like the server was trying to rush us out of the restaurant. He was cleaning our tables as we were eating. Each napkin I would put down he was reaching over us to clear the table. Definitely disappointed in the food and would not recommended it to anyone.

Second time trying Canes.
It’s ok.
Some subtle flavours in the doubles and roti overpower the food but it’s ok.
Had doubles for the first time in a plate which was def different and surprisingly nice.
Haven’t been able to go too to Trinidad in a while so this is a nice substitute.

Customer service was great with staff checking in on us frequently.

We had doubles, a beef and chicken roti with a sorrel shandy each. We’ll def return (until we could go to Trinidad 😉).

The tables were super tiny though. Felt very cramped with just the small order we placed.

Parking is a bit tough in that area but patience is key.
Lots of uber eats etc passing through though, so that’s an option.

My first time here and I have to say… the best braised oxtail bowl ever. I feel like I’m on a vacation somewhere on an island. I’m mad I didn’t savor it. And the atmosphere is for everyone, great vibes.
