We did the six-course tasting menu at Karma and it was an excellent experience. The service was lovely and personalized, the food was delicious with creative takes on traditional dishes, and it was a great value. We will definitely be back.

Highly highly recommend The pomelo, crab, and avocado dishes. The cocktails were excellent and creative too and added a fun touch.

Outstanding experience. Had the chef’s 9-course tasting menu and it was a true delight. The service by Eduard was outstanding. The food was impeccable and so artistically presented that it was hard to eat. But when you got over that issue the food was absolutely delicious. The creativity and flavors were out of this world. The 9-courses took us through the all regions of India. Eduard explained the flavors and region which added a nice touch. We also had the wine pairing which made the experience that much more enjoyable. The pictures don’t do it any justice. The chef is a creative genius. It’s a must try. We will be back for sure for this tasting.

I decided to come here after completing a side gig research project. The tasting and the restaurant confused me at first, but I went with the latter.

Evem though i came by myself, the service  and hospitality was top notch. The food was cooked just right and I loved the presentation.

Update (2/28): the Nirvana appetizer is stunning and delish. I would highly recommend!  So were the goat cheese naan and the cardamom ice cream - all new for me despite many visits here.  Pics added.

Overall, this is my favorite Indian restaurant in DC. The good is *really* good, although not all dishes are created equal.

First, for those who have been here before, note they the restaurant has split into two; Karma for a set chef's tasting menu and Karizma for an a la carte menu. Karizma's menu has *some* of the items that were on Karma's original menu, but it is quite new.

One item that remained on the menu: chicken chettinad. Point blank: if you visit here and don't try the chicken chettinad (assuming, of course, you eat meat!), you're truly missing out.  It is one of the best Indian dishes I've ever had.  The blend of flavors is amazing, and they get the spice level just right.  I prefer to add tamarind chutney to cut some of the spice, but it's amazing with or without.

I usually go with the garlic naan, but this visit I went with the laccha parantha, which is a bread with multiple layers fried in ghee to give it a buttery taste and somewhat crunchy edge.  It was delicious and unique. It's not technically on the menu as a side, but they do have it...and highly recommended.

The Malvani chicken curry, on the other hand, was good but a bit bland and typical. I'm not sure if the coconut milk simply overweighed the other flavors, but while the chicken was stewed well, the dish didn't pop. It was lackluster with no depth.

The Nirvana 37 is a new addition to the menu since this restaurant split in two, is a 37-ingredient salad that looks like a work of art. We did not try it this time, but the table next to us did. They were all raving about it, and it certainly will be ordered on my next visit.

The pricing here is a bit unbalanced. On the one hand, $25-30 for a full curry dish of high quality seems spot on for a restaurant of this caliber.  On the other hand, $26 for literally a *two* baby lamb chop appetizer seems absurd. In general, their appetizers tend to be small portions but priced as if they were larger.

Worth noting: service is awesome. The entire staff seems to care for all tables, so it's truly a village mentality at delivering service.  It made a difference.

Highly recommend, but I would be discerning about what I order.

All the food was amazing! My favorite was the Batada Bun which was filled with potatoes and herbs--all smothered in a lightly spiced mushroom sauce. It was defunitely my favorite dish of the night.

The Dala Makhani was also delicious, especially when combined with rice & garlic Naan.

Servers were friendly & attentive! I honestly think Karma blows other more popular upscale Indian restaurants out of the water.
