Tried Dave's Hot Chicken for the first time and it was a solid experience! I got the hot chicken slider with mac and cheese -- both were super flavorful and came out quickly, even though the place was busy. They have a self-serve soda fountain, which is always a plus, and the inside was bright and inviting with some really cool graffiti-style artwork on the walls. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outside, so even with the crowd, it didn't feel cramped. Only small downside was the indoor trash bin filling up pretty quickly, but there's another one outside that helped keep things clean. All in all, great spot for some spicy chicken and chill vibes. Will definitely be back!

I been trying to get to this place since it opened. I been wanting to try the reaper seasoned chicken I heard so much about. I was not disappointed. The parking is not easy to get. The parking lot is shared with all other stores in that area. The inside is in great condition. Everything is perfectly clean. You will order when you enter. The drinks are self serve. There is no napkins on the tables. I had the two chicken strips with fries meal. Their meals do not come with drinks. That is a let down. I ordered my chicken with reaper level heat. I had to sign a waiver to order that seasoning. I originally thought it was a joke. My family does grow our own carolina reaper peppers. I was wrong. The reaper seasoning they use is powerful. I did not have dip into some ice chips. Tasted little over seasoned though. I do not know if they sprinkled extra on mine when they heard I grow my own reapers. The texture of the food sure felt that way. A dry coat of seasoning on top of the chicken original seasoning made mine very dry tasting. The scoville heat level was top notch. Just that dryness to the seasoning ruined it for me. I ate one there and took the second piece home to try again later.

This is the second time I've let my 11-year-old talk me into going to some chicken place because he heard about it online. This was significantly better than the last place (see my Raising Canes review). The menu at Dave's hot chicken is pretty lean, but that's not a bad thing if you're great at the few things you do. Wanting to have some variety my son ordered the 2 chicken tenders meal. He did not want to tackle the Reaper level heat, but I was able to deploy the Dad lean and get him to go Medium. I went with the Dave's bites (boneless wings basically), went with Hot. I've already done a Reaper challenge and wasn't planning to put either end of my digestive system through that again. Food came out quickly and the portions are solid. Tenders are HUGE. Fries were tasty and well seasoned. Pickles are tasty. Signature sauce is really good. Flavor on the medium heat was really nice. Not hot, had a bit of paprika sweetness in there. The Hot flavor on my bites was, in fact, hot. Not an uncomfortable or unpleasant flavor, just spicy. But good with the sauce. I enjoyed it quite a bit. My son couldn't finish his prehistoric chicken tenders so he brought the rest home. They reheated nicely in the air fryer and the chicken paired nicely with some ranch. I would try again if I'm in the are and have a hankering for some hot chicken.

Late dinner Dine-In at DHC Gate Parkway and ordered the #1 and #2 Combo with medium fries and drink. It was good, just the right amount of spice plus the sauce. Great service from Evelyn upon ordering. Very courteous and professional. It was past 930 PM and the customers looked happy eating at this joint, the wall paintings are pretty cool to look at too.

s so excited about trying Dave's here as I've had it back home and on vacation multiple times it's always a fun environment plus great hearty food with so much flavor. It was middle of the day at the location and there wasn't a single person in the building minus the employees Very strange because it was the middle of the town center, but I still had faith when I went up to order, the girl was very uninterested in conversation and didn't even make me feel as if she was interested in taking my order if I was purely to base this off of that reaction I would not say to go back, but I'm not going to do that and instead I'm going to talk about how clean it was even though they were working on the soda machine while I was there and this is a new location. Additionally, I ended up ordering my food to go and the food still was delicious. Very well cooked and a great amount of food for the price just like every other Dave's location if this is your first time ever having days if you like any type of heat, I have a recon recommend going for the hot as the medium had no heat to be my boyfriend on the other hand is not a fan of heat and thought the medium was great The loaded fries were very interesting but do you remember they're not loaded fries that you would be able to reheat due to the coleslaw overall. Worth a chance just don't expect to much either at this location

We stopped in to Dave's hot chicken on Sunday and I was surprised to see a large seating space full of diners. However, I also saw many caution signs on the floors as well as garbage. We ordered our food to go. 2 orders of chicken bites, one medium, one no spice. We waited about 15 minutes for food, when it was handed over, the labels put on the boxes to keep them closed were not put on correctly so the boxes were open and the labels were dirty. And both orders were medium, not as we requested. I liked the food and thankfully after the long wait it came out hot. I think they could be extremely successful if they added additional staff, especially on the weekend.

My first experience at Dave's was such a win! The food was absolutely amazing. I got the tenders w/fries, my husband got two sliders w / fries & my daughter got the nuggets with fries. Everything tastes so fresh & the heat levels are so spot on. Medium was my happy place but the hot was still really good! My husband got the extra hot and he loved it. The service was great, they were very nice & got our food out quick! The place is very clean & just a fun vibe to it. We will be back!

Dave's hot chicken wasn't bad, I felt like most of the flavor of the seasoning got lost towards the middle of the chicken. Service was perfectly fine normal fast food style/ more of a casual quick lunch. would say it's a little pricey than your average fast food place, but the portion size is huge, one tender or one slider should be good enough for the average person.

Based on the times that I've driven by here in the past and seen the lines way out the door..:I got lucky and was able to pop in during the lunch hour. I waited maybe 3 mins ...then I ordered. That was a big thing because I was discouraged thinking I'd never get to try this place. Now I will say nothing against the establishment but this may be the most overrated place in Jacksonville to date. The thing that stuck out to me the most, is that the "hot" in the chicken is completely the seasoning....and not the actual temperature of the food. Sometimes...you want to experience the "hsshhhh shhh schhhh" of trying to blow off hot, fresh , food. This was definitely one of those times. However, the flavor was decent... Although I'm not impressed.... I'd eat here again. But I can't say I'd pass up PDQ, a Zaxbys....or even a Huey Magoos for DHC.
