If you find yourself walking into one of the local (fake) bbq chains, follow this advice: Stop. Turnaround. Get back in your car, and make your way to Yellow Rose. This place is a hit. You'll have high expectations when you step into the restaurant and see specials and menu modifications scribbled on butcher paper and taped around the walls. Nothing pretentious. No fake branding. Just great food. The best way to test bbq is without sauce, and hands-down, the pit master in this little shop knows the craft. The pork, brisket, and turkey are exceptional examples of how to treat meat with smoke, and I can't wait to go back and try the sausage. Sides like slaw, charro beans, and a Texas spin on a seasonal vegetable are special treats that will make you want to come back tomorrow. Enjoy.

If you've been craving Texas style barbecue in Mandarin, Yellow Rose BBQ might just be the spot to check out. I'm no expert on Texas barbecue, but after hearing from others that it was "pretty close," I had to see for myself. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The barbecue here is definitely slow-cooked and seasoned with a dry rub. Peppery with just the right balance of spice, without being overly salty. It's a straightforward, no frills kind of flavor that lets the meat shine. We ordered the Bevo Platter, which is supposed to feed 4-6 people. There were five of us, and honestly, it was the perfect amount of food for all of us. For $74, we got a variety of meats: pulled pork, brisket, ribs, sausage, and two large sides. We went with mac & cheese (creamy and comforting) and charro beans (a flavorful, hearty choice). We added crinkle cut fries and the elote pasta salad, which was a unique twist on traditional elote. Worth trying, especially as it paired well with the richness of the meats. The standout for me was definitely the brisket. It was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, and I could see why it's such a fan favorite. We also sampled their crispy birria tacos, which were deliciously savory, and the Rosebud, a huge jalapeño wrapped in bacon and stuffed with brisket and cream cheese. It had a nice kick, and I loved the smokiness of the bacon. For dessert, we had hoped to try the banana pudding, but they were out, so we went with churros and chocolate dipping sauce instead. No complaints there. It was a sweet and satisfying end to the meal. My nephew loved it! The restaurant itself is on the smaller side. There are a few tables inside, they also have an outdoor seating area. The tight indoor space can get a little cramped, especially around the condiment station/beverage station. The service was friendly, though nothing too remarkable. You order and pay upfront. They do offer a military discount, but it's only for those in uniform, which is worth noting if that applies to you. As for the price, it feels a bit on the high side to me. I'd probably opt for takeout next time, simply because I can't imagine waiting for a table with the mouthwatering smell of barbecue filling the air. Plus the food is so filling you'll want to be home to take a nap right after!

Atmosphere - there were boxes stacked, and some parts clearly weren't being used, but the dining room was clean, and the noise level was low, but I have to admit my clean OCD was perturbed. My son and I have been trying to go by here for a couple of months, but his schedule only allows us to go to lunch on Mondays in the Yellow Rose is closed on Mondays, so we just weren't making a connection. Fast-forward to tonight and he came in tired from work, the rest of the family was out of town, so I took advantage and got us two platters, sides, and tacos to try.. As I said above, Service was stellar both in person and on the phone and the host is definitely steered me right on what items to get and what I am looking for popular. When I went to pick up the food, I was a little annoyed because the person in front of me was taking so long, but then I remembered they took about that long with me on the phone so I have nothing to complain about. Yellow Rose know something about Service that's for sure. You wanna know what else food more specifically Texas barbecue : Original sauce- my favorite, rich flavor and not too sweet. Mustard sauce - another good one, but not as good as the original. Charro beans - wowza, these were good. Cabbage - I do t like cabbage, but this was a good choice. Elote Macaroni - this fell flat for me, but my son LOVED it. Brisket - hardy, meaty taste, nice crust on the outside. Ribs -seriously, WTH? These were fantastic, they don't need sauce, the rub they put on is delicious. There is a limited menu, but they have a wall of butcher paint with specials and a board on the counter stating what they are out of. I would like to dine in next time and try some of the specials, sone of them looked great. Really worth a try, just don't go on Mondays.

First, I have to commend the young lady who was at the front who took our order. I truly wished I got her name or that she was wearing a name tag because I would love to recognize her for the outstanding customer centered service she delivered. With a pleasant smile, she answered all of our questions and made recommendations which were spot on! She truly represents yellow rose barbecue in an excellent fashion. Now to the food, where do I begin? My friend had the brisket taco which she said was great! I thought it was going to be the crunchy shell, but it turned out. It was not and I so wished I had gotten that cause it looked phenomenal! I had the lean brisket with the macaroni street corn and macaroni salad on the side. Both of the macaroni side dishes were outstanding and they give you large portions, which I really appreciated. The brisket had excellent flavor (the mustard sauce was great, but the original was phenomenal.). The only suggestion I can make here is be a little more generous with the brisket as they gave you a very, very small amount for the money. I love the orange thing they have going on in the tiles and in the bathrooms having the soap dispenser and towel dispenser in orange matching the trim. Overall, the friendliness of everybody, the cleanliness and the food this is a must go to establishment! Just remember the brisket portions are on the small side.

I came in to get some BBQ to go for my shift the next day. Cool restaurant with super friendly staff. The food was great! I got the Holy Trinity with slaw, cucumber salad and the cooked cabbage. The ribs were the star meat! Some of the best ever! Sausage was good. Brisket was tender but just ok. The regular sauce was very unique and good! The slaw and cucumber salad good. But the cabbage was phenomenal! I want to try other BBQ joints. But I would come back here!

First off all, service was exceptional. The staff was friendly and kept checking to make sure customers were enjoying their meals or needed additional service. The rosebud was amazing! The ribs were fall off the bone. I thoroughly enjoyed the eloté pasta and the green beans had an Asian flair. Will definitely visit again

Ordered the Hill County Trinity. Brisket, ribs & sausage with 3 sides, for which I chose mac & cheese, charro beans and coleslaw. I have found my new favorite bbq in town. The brisket and ribs were so tender and the rubs they use have great flavor without being overpowering. The mac & cheese is not my style but still tasted good. I just had to think of it as creamy noodles. The charro beans were very flavorful and I loved the cole slaw. It is not sweet. Parking here is not always a fun time but that is not their fault. One thing I'd like to see is more sauce bottles and salt & pepper. I only saw one of each bottle of sauce, which were not labeled, and no salt or pepper. Will definitely be returning.

Nice place to dine, relax and enjoy BBQ! The sweet young lady took great care of me today. I dined in today. I got a bbq pork sandwich, two sides and water. They're only about half mile from my work location. I got the last parking spot today. The food was Devine. I got the beans with meat, pasta salad and the sandwich. It was delicious. She also gave me a to go box, since I could not eat all of it. The cucumber salad is for a co worker. It looked good. I will try that next time as a side. Pros: great customer service, delicious bbq and sides. Good location. Cons: out of their control:tight parking. There are multiple restaurants right there. Recommend? Hell to the YES!
