Zak the Baker has always been a solid 10/10, but this long-overdue 5-star review is dedicated to their incredible apple pie during the Thanksgiving season. Since moving here, I’ve made it a tradition to order this pie every year—usually stocking up with a few extras to freeze and enjoy throughout the new year. Let me just say, it’s the best apple pie I’ve ever had. While I selfishly wish it were available year-round, its seasonal exclusivity makes it even more special and something to look forward to every holiday season. Thank you, Zak and team, for crafting such an outstanding pie. I had a slice last night, and it tasted as fresh as if I had picked it up on Thanksgiving morning! 😭🥧

Zak the Baker is a solid bakery. We tried the avocado toast and the mushroom toast and they satisfied our craving for sourdough. Not the best sourdough or toasts I ever had but definitely did the job. Mushrooms were particularly flavorful.

The hazelnut croissant compensated what it lacked in crispiness with an outstanding hazelnut cream inside. The cream has a pudding consistency and was pretty mind blowing! You could really taste the rich hazelnut tones.

We took the flourless chocolate almond cookie to go, left in the warm car for few hours and it made for a perfect afternoon snack! The center became gooey as the chocolate chips melted slightly while the outside crunchy shell made it a perfect combo!

Zak had been on my list since day one of my trip to Miami, and I finally made it there for brunch. The wait time was about 30 minutes, so I opted for a to-go order. Here’s what I tried:
•	Avocado Toast: A well-curated dish. The thinly sliced onions, lime, and paprika dressing were a perfect combination.
•	Tomato Bisque & Grilled Cheese Sandwich: Easily the best I’ve ever had. The sandwich was perfectly crisp, and the tomato dip elevated the flavors even further. I savored every bite.
•	Mushroom Toast: This one didn’t hit the mark for me. The pairing of the bread with the mushrooms felt off, and the mushroom topping was excessively oily. The cheese didn’t complement the dish either. While it wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t for me.
•	Mango Cheesecake: Inspired by seeing others order it, I decided to give it a try—and I’m so glad I did. Every bite was delightful. The star fruit garnish was a pleasant surprise, adding a unique and delicious touch.

The ambience is bustling yet inviting, and the service was impressively quick. I also appreciated the eco-friendly packaging.

Finally, the Matcha Latte was a solid choice.

Overall, Zak is a must-visit if you’re in town!

If you are simply going for the pastries/bread, then you will get amazing, well-prepared food. However, the last two times I’ve ordered a takeaway lunch from Zak’s I’ve been very disappointed. I used to love the house salad. It was a good portion with lots of fresh tomatoes, watermelon radishes, carrots, etc. Now it’s $12.50 for barely any lettuce, a few small slices of carrots, and what appears to be spoiled celery. I don’t know how this can be worth $12.50 and I’m not sure where the disconnect in service/food preparation is happening. Zak’s has always been a busy spot, but I never had issues with service or quality like I’ve witnessed over the last 6 months.
