I recently visited Fat Matt’s Rib Shack in Atlanta and tried the 1/2 rack of ribs, the pulled pork sandwich, and the chicken breast sandwich. Let me just say, I was impressed!

As someone who doesn’t usually enjoy the food scene in Atlanta, this place completely changed my perspective. The ribs were tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of sauce to complement the flavor without overpowering it. The pulled pork sandwich was rich and juicy, piled high with meat that melted in my mouth. The chicken breast sandwich was also a standout .. flavorful and cooked to perfection, with a great balance of texture and seasoning.

The casual, laid-back vibe of the place made the experience even better. It’s definitely a spot I’ll be visiting more than once. If you’re in Atlanta and looking for barbecue that hits the mark, Fat Matt’s Rib Shack is a must-try!

I used to love the barbecue here years ago, but it just wasn't the same from what I remembered.  The ribs, and baked beans were as sweet as the lemonade. Potatoes salad was decent, I just couldn't finish my food. This is what I left on the plate before leaving. $27 wasted.... Lemonade was good though.

Great place for a quick and delicious BBQ lunch.  Simple and easy, order at the counter and they bring it over.  Not a lot of options, but when you pull into the parking lot, you know you're going to eat well by the aroma of smoked meats.

We were busy for dinner but otherwise would have gone back to see the blues band later in the day - next visit to Atlanta we will plan for it.

Our Uber driver almost stopped for lunch with us, and was a bit jealous that we were going for lunch there!

Pulled pork was great, but the ribs were truly divine - fall off the bone, juicy but not fatty.  Mac and cheese was creamy and delightful, collards were flavorful and spicy (I mixed the two for the best of both worlds).

We tried everything on the menu, the star of bbq for me was ribs and half chicken especially parts that were charred, the food had such great flavor all around including all sides but seemed that the smoke taste was perfectly complimented by there homemade sauce.

As for sides all were great but Brunswick Stew and sweet potato pie are the two most elevated sides on the menu.

Also live music, which was a perfect compliment to the overall vibe this place has.
