Great location, within walking distance to every thing great. Great spa with great amazing ocean view- highly recommended!

There are two towers in the building and depending which tower you are at, your room may have modern or vintage feel!

Free tour available - great insight on the hotel history and surroundings.

Dont skip  all the hole in the wall eateries around  this hotel too. Try to explore 2-3 more blocks further in and you’ll find great food!

We recently returned to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday at your hotel—a place very special to us, as we first met here 10 years ago. Though we noticed a couple of small issues initially, our stay quickly surpassed every expectation we had.

Despite the ongoing construction, which we know can be challenging, the reduced rate, beautiful location, and above all, your outstanding team made it a memorable experience. The staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, making the stay an absolute pleasure.

The location and views are certainly wonderful, but what truly sets your hotel apart is the warmth, dedication, and professionalism of your staff. Weston, if you’re reading this, you have an exceptional team in Hawaii . I hope they are recognized and celebrated for their commitment to guest satisfaction. Special thanks to Paige, who added a unique touch to our experience.

If I could give this hotel more than five stars I would! The hotel is gorgeous and the staff is very friendly. We stayed here on our honeymoon in 2020 and they made everyone feel safe. Lots of rooms and very quiet. The views from our room were amazing, rooms were very clean and surprisingly having a balcony for the city and one for the ocean view it was still quiet. Pool seems a little small for amount of rooms but that wasn’t an issue while we were there. Access to the beach was great it was very clean. We were able to use a cabana and get food from the hotel and it was excellent. Location of the hotel is great so close to everything with shopping,restaurants,diamond head and the zoo. Would definitely recommend staying here and would love to come back

I’m staying here right now on 1/21/25 and had an issue with a room and Venna & Christian went out of their way to accommodate me and move the room (and the manager too, who I didn’t get their name).  I just wanted to make sure the higher ups here know about their can-do attitude and going above and beyond to help me.   Even with a full house because of a convention going on, they still figured a way to help.   Thank you both from a very satisfied customer!

The surfrider resort definitely is one of the most aesthetically pleasing resorts on the strip. Really nice architecture, beautiful lobby,  and great walk out beach and bar.

However, I don’t think it’s worth the money. It’s very expensive and there was quite a bit of quality lacking. I think every room is very noisy, walls are thin, lots of construction. Safe didn’t work, balcony  doors were locked due to some safety regulations. Breakfast and valet service very expensive plus their resort fee is hefty. I’d give this a 5 star if it was cheaper but at this price point it’s More a 2-3 star.

Famous historical hotel and one of the first on Waikiki. It's right on the beach and has easy access. They have a section of chairs for rent. There is a nice outdoor bar and restaurant. Platinum Marriott members get a free continental breakfast and a discount on the buffet, which is excellent. They have Japanese style breakfast at the buffet. The staff are tops and all services could not have been better. Rooms are comfortable and clean. If you are looking for a place to stay for a special occasion or a nice hotel, this is a good choice. If you don't stay here you can go and walk around to look at the history and views of the beach

Hubby and I were craving a quick getaway, so we decided to spend a few relaxing days in Oahu, soaking up the sun and unwinding. Since we didn't plan on renting a car, it was important for us to stay somewhere centrally located--close to both the beach and the action on the strip. The Moana Surfrider checked all the boxes. The location was perfect--we walked everywhere! Right across the street was the International Market Place, and everything we needed was just steps away. We initially booked a room in the hotel's older tower, which felt a bit dated. When we checked in, Samson at the front desk suggested we upgrade to a room in the newer tower. Although the extra $150 per night gave us pause, we decided to go for it--and we're so glad we did. The room was much more spacious and modern, which made a big difference. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning - clean, modern, elegant, and incredibly relaxing. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. I loved starting my mornings with an açaí bowl from the Surfrider Café and winding down with poké nachos at the Beach Bar. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

What a beautiful hotel. First time staying here and I can't wait to come back here!!! My man surprised me with a staycation here for my bday. The room was gorgeous with amazing views in this one bedroom suite. Service was friendly. We also had the breakfast buffet at the beach house was really good!! The hotel is just gorgeous with that old school feel. We didn't try the pool or the pool bar, but they had live music at night.

The Moana Surfrider is an iconic hotel in Waikiki because it was the first hotel. I try to stop in every visit to Honolulu, even if I'm not staying there to enjoy the beauty and history of the hotel. The courtyard is a fabulous spot to watch people or the ocean and sip a cup of coffee or have a mai tai. The hotel opened in 1901 was designed by the notable architect, Oliver Traphagan. I have to say that the style is Colonial Hawaii with the large veranda and ocean front courtyard. Today, the hotel is owned by Marriott. Marriott has down a great job of keeping the historic integrity of the hotel intact. Moana Surfrider is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Even better than visiting the hotel is staying in the hotel. When I visit for special occasions, this is my hotel of choice. The hotel offers valet parking.

This hotel property deserves every minute, the early morning wake-up to just snap photos. The time it took for me to take pictures with my cell phone. To assure it would best represent, the awe-inspiring beauty of this historic gem. How I waited for traffic + pedestrians for a clear shot at night, lit-up in whites and purples. It was the first to be built on Waikīkī Beach, when the surrounding areas were just swamp waters. The location was bare and undeveloped. Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resorts & Spa - Waikīkī Beach. The start of tourism into this part of O'ahu began, making the Moana a premier destination for accommodations at that time. Through the years, changes to the hotel's name along with ownership proved to be challenging. Yet, these companies invested time and resources to restore the natural beauty and grandeur of the historic main building, while constructing additions to the overall property. The white, iconic pillars, European architecture and design paired with open and spacious lanais looking-out into the Pacific blue. Waikīkī Beach just steps away, actually right there. And, a grand entrance + porte cochère fronting Kalākaua Avenue. Stunning. Walking through, I can feel the history, the old-style charm. The elegance still resonantes, but in a more modern way in certain parts of the property. Still, an experience worth the early morning wake-up. A cool, tropical ocean breeze softly hits my face, awakening my senses. Memories start to pour-in. First, those with my family while growing-up. As a kid, we traveled quite frequently to O'ahu. And, my parents would venture into Waikīkī, even though we were authentic locals from another island. I sat quietly in one of the wooden rocking chairs on the front lanai. People watching early risers taking their morning stroll or getting a cup of Kona coffee nearby. Drivers dashing by on Kalākaua Avenue. I used to do this many times as a child. My siblings and I would fight for an open rocking chair. Today, I had my own, and a choice of many on this overcast morning. Lucky me. So peaceful. Great memories. How do I know so much about this property? Not only have I experienced it as a kid, most of my career was in the tourism industry. A fine interest in hotels and restaurants, I was determined to experience and know. Never worked for the hotel and brand. I just had a passion. I still do. I remember having dinner on the second floor of the Tower Wing, breakfast on the first floor directly below. Both are no longer there. That was many years ago. I've walked through countless times, appreciating the surrounding areas. The architectural design that captivates me everytime I'm there. Enjoying daytime and sunset cocktails under the century-plus old Indian Banyan Tree, planted in 1904. This historic tree is still there today in the main outdoor courtyard, with Waikīkī Beach as a backdrop. I've enjoyed an elegant breakfast buffet at Veranda at the Moana in the past. I've only dined indoors, still able to enjoy the ocean views. Outside veranda seating is "choice" if you can snag a table. I think a visit is in-need to once again to experience dining at the Moana. This breakfast dining location transforms to Beachhouse at the Moana for evening service. Afternoon Tea, a classic at the Moana, is timeless in tradition. A popular gathering place for local residents, celebrating special occasions or just a boujee day-out with friends. I've been a spectator many times, this is still on the list to experience. And a tea package with champagne is a must. I wanted to share my experience, how I remember the Moana Surfrider. Back then, that's how I referenced this place, it wasn't Westin at the time. I knew it as the Sheraton Moana Surfrider. Now part of Marriott International through an acquisition in 2015, Sheraton and Westin are just a handful of brands that are part of this global, hospitality company's portfolio. The largest hotel chain in the travel + tourism industry by far. Find the distinct Moana charm, create new memories and cherish ones from the past at the same time. Appreciate the visual appeal and grand presence of a timeless tradition catering to visitors and kama'āina from the early 1900's. Come visit, stay and dine. This is the Moana Surfrider, a legacy.

I booked a room last minute due to a family event so the pickings were kind of slim. As usual I took the last flight out of my home airport so I arrived late. No room service and no open restaurant late. This is actually not the first time this has happened to me in Waikiki so just be aware. The front desk had one guy on duty, Josh, who was very polite helpful and friendly. This would continue with various employees through the stay. Room itself was dated and small. What you're really paying for is location and view, which alone were 5 stars. You do pay a premium for this in the room cost. The room itself was clean and comfortable. If you're solo or like me, with one little on, it's good enough. Housekeeping was great on our floor, Anela took care of us. I valet parked my rental every day which was super expensive. I think $65 a night which effectively costs more than the rental. Not worth it if you can get away with not needing a car. The bus is great and you can use ride apps well. Pool is small and basic but service at the pool was great. We rented a beach setup for a day and the service was great. We didn't use it as much as I would have liked but it was worth it for convenience. They did charge $100 for a full day which is way more than a beach setup at the Royal Hawaiian where I stayed previously. Plus you get Sheraton pool access staying at the Royal Hawaiian. The beach in front of the property had some shell action to hurt my feet as well as assorted rocks. If you have spoiled tender soles watch out for this. Breakfast at the veranda was lovely. Lots of fresh fruit and the basics plus excellent service. Not sure it's worth $48 but if you get it comped it's wonderful.

This historic hotel was nothing short of amazing. The architecture is hard to miss with the big, beautiful porte cochere out front. If you rent a vehicle they have valet parking. Our room was in the Diamond wing which I highly recommend. Make sure to get an ocean front room!The view is exceptional and it saves you from the noise pollution on the main drag. Although there is noise in the evenings outside, it quiets down pretty quickly. Unfortunately, there are some local substance abusers who sleep on the beach right in front of the property every night and get into verbal arguments. Would be nice to see that go away, but what can you do on a public peach? The hotel itself is very clean. The room was average size, with a smaller than normal bathroom. No tub which is fine with me, but it would've been nice to have some counter space. You're always worried something will accidentally fall into the toilet. Also, we unplugged the "bidet" because 1) who wants a heated toilet seat when it's 80 degrees outside and 2) we couldn't figure out how to use it. I've gotten this far in life without using one and I don't need to start now. We had to jiggle the shower door to open and close every time, but I really enjoyed the shower. The shower head is high (great for tall people like me), the water pressure is great and it's nice and hot. Definitely better than most hotels. We did not hear people traipsing up and down the halls. The rooms are well insulated from hall noise although I did occasionally hear the neighbors on either side, but not loud enough to distinguish what they were saying. Our room had 2 rocking chairs to enjoy the scenery outside. The balcony is smaller than most. You can go out on it, but no room for chairs or a side table. You can turn a rocker sideways and it will fit, but easier just to keep it indoors. The bed was nice and comfortable ensuring a good nights sleep every night. They have rocking chairs outside in front and on the back patio which are fun to sit on, but they don't rock very well because the patio is uneven, and the bottom of the chairs are worn down. On the patio, you will also find the beach bar, which is a good place to grab a drink or a quick bite to eat. The food selection isn't huge, but you should be able to find something to eat. Here you will also find the pool. It is not large enough to swim laps, but it is a nice pool that goes from 3 feet to 5 feet. Guests grab the lounge chairs quickly so get there early. One nice thing is that they provide free sunscreen so you can slather up and not worry about having to go buy it. They do provide beach chairs, but they are in limited quantities ,so again, make sure you get yours early. You check them out so you are responsible for bringing them back in. This is also where you will access the beach towels. They have about four cabanas that you can rent down by the pool for $200 a day. They also have eight umbrellas with lounge chairs on the beach in front of the property that you can rent for $100 a day. They do not have portable umbrellas that you can take on the beach. Those can be acquired at the ABC store across the street. We rented a beach umbrella one day which got us access to a server, but he rarely came around so I didn't think the value was really there. Everyone else that we came in contact with that was an employee of the hotel was super nice and I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Make sure to go up the staircase to the second floor and view all the photos and information that they have regarding the history of the hotel. It's very interesting. Sidenote, there is a secret balcony on the second floor facing the main drag that nobody seems to know about.

I can't help but love this hotel. Location 10/10 Rooms 9/10 Service 5/10 Value for the money 7/10 I have been coming to Honolulu regularly, my favorite vacation spot of all times. This is the first time I'm staying here, but I was always curious about it. The location is amazing. Right across from International market and all the high end shops. There is no better location on Waikiki. Beach access, of course. The pool is a little small, but it is easy to overlook with the breathtaking beachfront. The rooms are great, the vibe is unmistakably beachy. However, you feel the tradition, but not the luxury. The service is fine, but it does not live up to a luxury hotel standard. The staff is busy, the guests are invisible to them. I have not been greeted by a single staff I walk past the last 3 days. The check in was a little bit of a mess. During the busy season, you will pay a pretty penny. So far it is worth it, but for the same price I would probably choose the neighbor with pink walls.

The Moana Surfrider was the first hotel on Waikiki and it will celebrate 125 years in 2026. In preparation for that celebration, a $70M renovation is underway. As a result, the front desk has been temporarily relocated to what was the concierge lounge. For Bonvoy high status travelers, there is a cold and hot Continental Breakfast now served in the Veranda. They provide a $20 credit if you want to do the breakfast buffet. The Beachhouse is the hotel's high-end restaurant. Unfortunately, with the renovation, you can no longer order off the menu for dinner. They only serve a four-course meal which I believe costs $125. I used my AAA card and received a $50 per night room credit for use in the restaurants, bars or spa. It still annoys me that hotels charge us a Resort Fee when I would have received most of the benefits for free given my Bonvoy status. We used Bonvoy Room Upgrades to snag a Tower Diamond Head Ocean View. Sitting on the lanai watching the sunrise is always exhilarating. I hope with the renovation they'll upgrade the bathrooms and elevate the decor of the rooms. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The Beach Bar, next to the famous Banyan Tree, serves tasty drinks and light bites during the day and evening. At night, it features great live music. The spa at the Surfrider is first class. I was able to secure a 50-minute deep tissue massage today and Ellen, my therapist, was incredible. She has worked at the spa for 10 years and is a master at technique and strength. Although there are many other hotel choices on Waikiki, I love the location of Surfrider. I have two 3-mile running routes that I like to run early morning.

I don't know how many years we using this hotel . Staff are not helpful and snubs. I never ask help in past but this trip wasn't husband had surgery we can't check in till tomorrow only 13 hrs early I went take my luggage for help store . They won't help . No aloha sprit " I'm sure they help friends and family . They make me go bell man - bell Concerge - front desk - young no experience girl manager telling me " security " " DO I LOOK LIKE I STORE BOMB ??!!!!!" Only ask help because I CANT HELP MY HUSBAND AND LUGGAGE SAME TIME TOMORROW !!!!! Use your common sense !!! Not only that I have torn shoulder and fracture L1 otherwise I would not ask !!!!!!! Surely service going to down every year snub act to loyalty guest . Only outside are gorgeous but it's inside is s;&@)t hall " nothing 4 star !!!! No star . 日本人がいつもここにホテルに来ると思い、お客様を大事にしない形だけのかっこいいホテルで何も良い事はありません。他の小さめのホテルの方がサービスもいいし、値段も安いスタッフのサービスは一緒です。多分このホテルではフォースターのフォームを取っているので、偉そうなスタッフの態度が目に付きます。形だけはかっこいいですが、中身のスタッフのサービスなどは全然トゥースターなので、特に日本人の人はティップをあげないので、大事にはしてくれませんよ。他のとこに泊まったほうがいいと思います。お勧めしません。
