So. Let's talk about Matcha in Hawai'i, because it's totally expensive and half the time, not even good. Po'ai might be expensive but it's super duper good! My favorite part is the complexity and quality of the flavors with each bev and the quality of the matcha used. You can taste the mint, strawberry, lilikoi, but also the earthy, richness of the matcha. All of it melds into one delicious treat that you want more of the next time you walk in. The store itself is cute and there are places to get some work done or study. Every time I've come in the store has been busy, but I've never had to wait too long in line. Employees are efficient and helpful! I will def be back :)

Small aesthetic cafe here in Chinatown Honolulu. Offers coffee, matcha, and pastries. Limited seating. Nice staff and quick service. I got the Alohamora and it was a wonderful drink. Good matcha flavor and loved the unique cream flavor. It had liliko'i coconut foam and it was perfect. Subtle flavors from the liliko'i after each sip. Drink made with coconut milk and it was balanced well. The coconut flavor didn't overpower the matcha. Would come back here to try their other flavors! I walked here but looks like they have a parking lot next to them.

As much as I love their syrups, I'm honestly a little disappointed in the cafe itself. I've been there twice now, and both times I had the same experience. The first time, I went early in the morning right when they opened, and I was met with annoyed faces it felt like they were upset that I was even there. I've seen pictures of their matcha looking vibrant and green, but the one I got was basically milk with a hint of matcha, it was practically white. It definitely seems like an issue of inconsistency and lack of proper training. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt since it was early (I'm not a morning person myself), so I decided to try again on a weekend in the middle of the day. Unfortunately, I had the same experience, a very milky drink with barely any matcha flavor, and almost none of the syrup I paid extra for. On top of that, the baristas were once again rude and unwelcoming. I really want to enjoy this place and support local, but I just can't justify spending over $8 for a cup of milk while feeling like I'm inconveniencing the staff by being there. Please train your employees for better consistency and customer service. I genuinely want to love this place, but at this point I get better treatment (and the same quality matcha) at Starbucks.

Local coffee shop located in china town. Parking: Street side. Parking in Chinatown is currently $3 an hour. Food: small selection of Gluten free & vegan pastries (banana bread, muffins etc.) Study friendly: Yes. There were 2 long tables that sit approx 10 people each. Plenty of people with laptops doing work. Service: Quick & friendly! Drinks: the coffee here is phenomenal! They have a few rare flavors you don't usually find as latte additions like hibiscus & lilikoi! Excited to try the match next time!

Great place for a matcha and to support a local company! The decorations inside are so cute and there is decent seating available, both bar and table. It does get a bit packed on weekends with those studying. I got the alohamora matcha with was a coconut milk based matcha with lilikoi foam which was deliciously fragrant, light, and sweet. I do like my matchas a little less rich and more bitter, but this was a good treat.

One of the best coffee shops!!! I ordered the Pauahi Latte and Hapa Honey Latte. I prefer the Pauahi latte more, the flavors compliment each other. Hapa Honey has too much floral aspect that distracts me from the coffee. They also provide two sizes for iced drinks. The service was kind and quick. While waiting for my drink, I peeked next door and saw lots of merch and tables available. If I had a check in luggage, then I would've bought some syrups to bring home. I parked at a paid parking lot next door to the cafe.

Got the hapa honey as matcha and the alohamora. Both were soooo yummy. I mean the color of the matcha speaks for itself. I love that it has a local twist with the likikoi and pineapple. I wanna come back and try the coffee but the matcha is so good. Service is fast and friendly and the interior is cute and spacious

At Pō'ai, you can find coffee, tea, and other drinks featuring their syrups. They also sell baked goods, and other products from local small businesses, such as jewelry, stickers, crafts, and more! The shop is so well-curated and has a lovely, warm ambiance - it feels so thoughtful and locally grounded in terms of the drinks, decor, the products they sell, etc. Upon recommendation of the staff, I tried the matcha manakō, which is matcha with whole milk and a li hing mango syrup. The balance between the matcha and syrup was perfect - the syrup wasn't so sweet that you couldn't taste the tea, and it complemented the slight bitterness of the matcha nicely. I'm really excited to try some of their other drinks and syrups! There is indoor seating - a few tables that can seat 2-3 people each, as well as a larger community table. There are also a few seats outside. It's not super noisy, so it's a nice place to meet a friend or do some work.

I came here to grab coffee with a friend and I really enjoyed this spot! A very spacious cafe with chill vibes and a great selection of drinks and food. I got the Kalihi cacao which is like their version of a mocha and my friend and I shared a breakfast sandwich. My drink was so yummy! It had a great chocolate flavor and it wasn't overly sweet. I forgot the name of the breakfast sandwich but it had egg and pesto in it and it was pretty good! I highly recommend Po'ai because of their unique drinks! A great place to chill and relax at to enjoy your drinks as well. It does get quite busy too!
