Make the climb up Jarrett White Road to Tripler Hospital for lunch at the Anuenue Cafe! Monday - Friday, the team serves up nutritious meals. Select from the Soup of the Day, a choice from the Main Line, vegetables, and steamed rice or rolls. The menus are posted on their website by week for the entire month, so you can plan ahead. My parents have limited mobility, so I take my Mom for a short excursion to the Cafe, and take out food. You need access through the gate - military/veteran id is the requirement, unless you're a contractor onsite, employee, or veteran caregiver. Once through, one of the hurdles is parking (depending on the time of day). There have been a few times where I've had to park on the lower levels, and trust me, the climb up the stairs can be challenging! Bottom line - the team in the cafe works well together, serving up hot fare to both hospital staff and customers at terrific prices. They are efficient at keeping the line moving, and whether you eat in (large dining room) or take out, you'll find nutritious meals at a great value!

$5 for breakfast! Unheard of right? I have eaten here around 50 times. Don't like Breakfast potatoes or the hash browns Boiled eggs Coffee (but hey it's a $1.50) Oatmeal (one of my favorites, but way overcooked) Thai curry soup Like: Eggs to order, including omelettes Burgers to order No wait if you get there when it opens Window seating Tabasco sauce Bagel, toast it how you like it Biscuits and gravy, probably not healthy, that's Southern food Chicken noodle soup Last but not least... THE SALAD BAR. The best ever for around $0.25/oz, or around 1/3 of the cost at Whole Foods. Great selection, fresh, crackers included if you like them. Value for your money, one of the best places on the island.

Located inside Tripler Army Medical Center is the Anuenue Cafe... the place to get yer grub when working, visiting, or just plain ol hungry. There is more than enough seating in the dining room... even when it's busy during breakfast and lunch you can still grab a spot and there is more seating outside if it's a nice breezy day. Breakfast is the same: An omelette station with various meats/veggies and then a line of other items such as rice, hash browns, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, pork sausage, french toast, pancakes, and oatmeal among other items. They also have white and wheat toast, and bagels (plain, blueberry [my fave!], onion, raisin, and I'm not sure what other flavors). They have small cereal boxes as well. They have a fruit salad station (beware it is weighed) as well as fresh fruits. They serve hot teas and coffee in addition to a soda fountain and canned sodas and bottled juices. As for lunch... I rarely visit for lunch because I'm on nights now but even when I was on days I'd bring lunch from home. If I recall, sometimes they have pizza, burgers, grilled cheese, chicken sandwiches, french fries, sweet potato fries, and a fresh make your own salad station (again by weight). They also serve wraps (turkey wrap is SO good!) but they have other flavors such as tuna, chicken, BLT, and ham. They also have a "hot line" and what is served varies. You'd just have to tippy toe and sneak a peak to see what the special is... or if you're regularly at Tripler print of the cafe menu. They serve tacos, pancit, stir fry, chicken parmigiana, fish, chili, and the list goes. Never been here late night (even though I'm on nights) but I've heard the variety is very limited. They have condiment stations with ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, relish, shoyu, splenda, sugar, etc. CASH ONLY.

Standard DFAC fare at more expensive prices as meals are charged by item now. Most may think $5 for lunch is a good deal, but for hit or miss food that is questionable nutritionally... I personally try to pack food or will hit Subway. $6 now for an iceberg salad... The best deal is $3 for a blue plate dinner, but they never put out a menu, and sometimes there is only one choice. Lines get crazy during lunch time as well. I hope you have the luxury of time to wait. I will give them though, taco bar on Wednesdays is consistently good.

This is a middle of the pack military Dining facility. Madigan Army Medical Center is better and Eisenhower Medical Center is worse. The interesting thing about this DFAC is that their lunch is very good, they usually have a hearty main dish with sides like corn, succotash, rice that fill you up for cheap. Dinner is a 3 dollar blue plate special that is leftovers from lunch. I also hear they have good breakfast tacos, but I have never tried it. Overall this is a good value for your money, and cheapest place in Hawaii that you can get full.

Typical military/hospital/cafeteria food. Not all the food is good here but there's decent variety and it's cheap. LUNCH: Blue plate special (previous days leftover includes main entree & 2 sides for $3.00.) Regular entrees are under $3 and .60 for each side. My favorites are turkey, taco day & lasagna. The salad bar is fantastic. Selections vary but can include romaine, spinach, cauliflower, real bacon bits, chopped eggs, Mexican salad, potato salad, 3-bean, Waldorf, & lots more. Fast serve line has burgers, dogs, grilled salmon, grilled chicken, garden burger, fries, sweet potato fries, chili. Thera a daily soup - under $2. There are also premade salads, sandwiches & wraps if you're in a hurry Lunch is 11-2 but grill closes earlier. Breakfast is also good. Omelettes or burrito made to order for under $2. Self serve scrambled, bacon, hashbrowns, pancakes & more. Hot cereal bar with all types of toppings. Cold cereals, pastries, muffins, bagels.

This place serves good açaí ! The portion size are good, topping choices are sufficient, and price is reasonable. The servers are friendly and are expedient on their service. I'm definitely going back !

Super cute atmosphere that boast organic ingredients that can be vegan if you choose and gluten free. So may selections of teas! It really is a tea shop so if you're looking for coffee I would not recommend this place for a good cup of Joe.

Keeping in mind that this IS a cafeteria, this place is pretty awesome. The problem happens when your eyes are bigger than your stomach and you keep thinking to yourself "ehh... everything here is cheap, so I'll get this too... and this... and this!" The food is never disgustingly greasy like in other cafeterias, and the food is very decently priced. I'd say the biggest rip off aside from things like chips and other foods that they stock from other companies would be their pizza since it's $3 per slice. You can do better at other places. But a veggie burger with more flavor that is just as filling for less than $3? Or a chicken sandwich that's less than $2? With some awesome sweet potato fries on the side? And a cheap coffee or some crystal light? Mmm! :) And that's just what I tend to gravitate toward when I'm in a rush since the sandwiches are already packaged and you can just grab and go. Otherwise the blue plate specials and other hot entrees are amazing. There is always plenty of seating. I've never struggled to find a place to sit. I've even been able to work on homework while sitting in the cafeteria, but there's no wifi. I had to tether with my phone. The only thing that I don't like about this place is that it's cash only, since I don't usually remember to carry cash with me and I tend to use my card. Also the ATM outside is not for my bank. I don't remember which ATM it is (I think Bank of Hawaii?) so just try to have cash on you if you want to try this place out. Also I don't recommend waiting by the door at 10:55am, right before the doors open for lunch... the lines get long, and remember that you ARE in a hospital... which means that some of the people will be sick. If you're even slightly germophobic (like me) you will be miserable standing in line. Just wait until 11am and then head to the cafe for your cheap eats! It's really more like 3.5 stars, but if I had to pick, It's closer to 4 than 3. So 4 stars. :)

This is the cafeteria at Tripler hospital. I eat here pretty much every weekday at least once per day. The prices are great (need to save somewhere, the Yelp Challange gets expensive in town!!). For breakfast, can't beat the breakfast tacos, or omelettes. The boiled eggs are awesome too. For lunch, they have premade sandwiches or you could grab a burger/chicken sandwich. Veggie and turkey burgers are actually tasty. Most of the entree stuff is rather disappointing, but the chicken is sometimes pretty good. Plenty of seating, and cell phone reception. 365 Challenge: #31/365
