Island Car Rental made our Hawaii trip smooth and hassle-free. The booking process was easy, pickup was quick, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. One star is too much for this place. We were instructed to go to a very sketchy garage where an EXTREMELY rude guy named John met us. He seems to really hate his job. ZERO people skills. Made us uncomfortable from the second he walked up to us. He then proceeded to belittle me because I pressed the green button after I signed the paperwork. He scolded me for like 5 mins "did I tell you to press the button??!" I apologized several times and he continued to belittle me and tell me he never told me to press the button. We fell very unsafe. He then proceeded to do the exact same thing to the person checking in after us and argued with the man for like 10 mins. Upon returning the car, you are instructed to place the key in a man-made HOLE on the back of a white van that looks like a serial killer lives in. The van is full of cleaning supplies and old car junk. The van is NOT locked so anyone can open it and take the key out. They charged us $75 for insurance for the day and they require a $500. DONT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. They ruined our day. They hate tourists. If you do rent from them. Take a video and pictures of your rental and a video of you placing the key in the van hole. Shame on the Outrigger Resort for recommending these piece of shit people

The car was nice, clean and ready, and the location was very near to our hotel. We were glad to get the rental extended for a second day. Communication was by phone, web and email. The garage seemed safe. We had some confusion. We were not clearly told how to get in and out of the parking garage gate. I had to use my bank card to get out, when the parking was supposed to be free overnight. The staff should have made it clear to pick up the car at Ilikai Marina Hotel instead of the Ilikai Hotel, so we were walking around the wrong location.

I would not recommend this car rental company to ANYONE. They are unreliable, extremely rude, and unprofessional, and everyone here has no customer service skills. *MOHAMMAD IS NOT A GOOD PERSON TO DO BUSINESS WITH!* These people are big scammers and I would not recommend them to anyone. Be sure to recognize their company name and DO NOT BOOK ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM. I PROMISE YOU ARE DOING YOURSELF A FAVOR! ******** "I'd advise other PEOPLE to be cautious."************

So I recently rented a car here, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The owner is incredibly friendly and outgoing, making the entire process smooth and enjoyable. No one to greet us at 9 am pick up time, John finally showed up after other parties were waiting as well, then proceeded to chastise my GF after signing iPad and hitting the "proceed" button! She asked if it was a problem and do they need to redo the forms? John said "no" but continued to criticize her and clearly wanted an argument. After his odd behavior we read the reviews and regretted using this company. We took pictures all around the car in the event they made allegations of damage upon returning car. They will try to scam the $500 deposit from you! Even picking up the car was sketchy inside a garage--just use Uber and save the bullsh*t these guys are dishing out.
