Unbelievably excellent. Every bite was perfection. Best Kim chee I've ever had. Going back tomorrow to finish the menu. Very friendly staff. And everyone sits at the bar. Do not miss this place.

Now that I have experienced the original Okdongsik in Seoul (the one which has consistently been recognized by Michelin since 2018) I can now compare our Honolulu branch and say... we do it right in Honolulu too! The meat may be a smidgen more tender in Korea (they use Korean black pork) and the menu sides are slightly different... still, I am happy to dine at either Honolulu or Seoul, without reservation..! Hoping Honolulu can earn their well deserved Michelin recognition soon too! Where the broth is tasty yet clean and the flavors in the soup and donkatsu are so comforting and delicious. Then again, maybe not... so I can continue to go with shorter lines. Hahah. Mashisayo!

Was excited to try this place out with my friend. We got the Dweji-gomtang, Lard Donkatsu, Ok Dongguerangttaeng, and Maesil Ade. As a disclaimer, I think this place just may not be aligned with my taste pallet but personally the Dweji-gomtang just was lack luster for me. I thought since it was such a clean dish that the broth would be really flavorful but I think it was just too clean for my taste pallet. I tend to like foods with a lot of flavor so maybe this just wasn't right for me. I also felt like the donkatsu was not that great. The meat was a little tough and not very juicy. I've definitely had better elsewhere on the island for similar price. The Ok Dongguerangttaeng was just okay to me as well. I didn't expect it to be served cold so that was a little off putting. The Maesil Ade was refreshing at least. For a place that has such a condensed menu, I thought everything would be amazing since I would assume they'd really focus all their energy on those few dishes but I think through a combination of mismatch taste pallet and quality I just wasn't impressed with this place unfortunately. I did really like the vibes of the place though and the service was still good. So if this kind of food is closer to your liking, then you might have a better experience than I did.

The banchan might be simple, but everything is high-quality and balanced perfectly to complement the main dish. I appreciate how the portions are just right--enough to satisfy without feeling heavy. Service is efficient and polite, and the overall vibe feels relaxed yet upscale in its simplicity. If you want Korean comfort food executed with precision and heart, Okdongsik is a must-visit. Just be prepared for a short wait during peak hours--it's worth every minute.

Their policy is the elegance of simplicity, and indeed, their menu truly reflects that. While their Gomtang is well known as their signature dish, we decided to try the cabbage kimchi noodles, a chilled noodle dish that was very tasty (this is not in the menu in Tokyo). We also ordered the Ok Donggeurangttaeng, a warm seafood patty that was slightly peppery yet paired wonderfully with the kimchi noodles. Their cold barley tea was also refreshing and delicious. They offer a senior discount on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with proof of ID. Welcome to Honolulu, and thank you very much for a wonderful lunch!

You can make reservation on Resy. We came here on a Sunday around 12:30pm and there was no line so maybe you can just walk in too. I love small restaurant that focuses on few items and do it right. We tried the pork soup, Kim Chee cold noodles, tonkatsu, and fish cake. They were all good. Pork soup is very porky so plan accordingly. I did enjoy Kim Chee cold noodles. It was refreshing and not spicy. I also like their round fish cake. Everything is made to order. It's open kitchen and counter sitting only. Clean and good service. One last thing, this place isn't your typical Korean restaurant with BBQ.

Food: We've tried three main dishes, a one side dish (Cold pork), and a drink. Overall, all tasted good. 1. Dweji-Gomtang: you don't care for a certain pork smell, I wouldn't recommend it. It grows on you though. ;) 2. Lard Donkatsu: Japanese style pork cutlet with veggies and picked radish. If you bring kids, I'd recommend ordering this. 3. Cabbage Kimchi Noodles: chilled noodle with kimchi broth. Not too spicy. 4. Naeng Jeyuk: this was our favorite. They will teach you the right way to eat! Pay attention! :D Service: During busy hours, I getting service can get delayed a bit. Such as getting your menu when you are seated or trying to get your check. Just like trying to get a drink at a busy bar. Catch their eyes before others! ;) Ambiance: Bar seating around the place so you are sitting in front of your "bartender". It's a good layout; however, it can be a bit challenging if you have a big group and you want to converse while eating. When we visit, they played Korean traditional music, which was a nice touch! :)

This restaurant has a limited menu. They work very hard to maintain a high standard of quality in their food, which is why it's delicious. The restaurant is bar-style seating so you're watching the staff prepare your food. I would recommend making reservations or arriving early to see if you can get a spot for dining in because of their limited seating arrangement.

This is now my new favorite spot for soup and tonkatsu. Okdongsik is reasonably priced, delicious, and simple. ***What we ordered ~ (I recommend everything that we ordered btw) **Dweji-Gomtang (10/10) ~ Light, but flavorful. It keeps pulling you in for another addicting bite. When I think of soup that can heal you, I think of this LOL. The rice is soft and still has some bite to it. It soaked up the broth and matches perfectly with the meat. The meat is subtlety seasoned, but pairs so well with the soup. Get this, it's soooo addicting. **Lard Donkatsu (10/10) ~ Out of ALL the tonkatsu places I've tried on O'ahu, this takes the CAKE! It's not too oil, the breeding is crunchy, and it doesn't make you feel lethargic after eating. In short, it was the cleanest tasting tonkatsu I've ever had. The tonkatsu sauce was nutty and pairs perfectly with the meat. The cabbage helps add a refreshing note after every bite. Get this too! ** Ok-Donggeurangttaeng (10/10) ~ Soft, crispy, flavorful. This was the perfect starter before the entrees. It's light and savory. The texture is crunchy and fluffy! Think of this has a Korean pancake but with more structure and softness. I personally loved this and it went so well the marinated onion (sitting on top of the Ok-Donggeurangttaeng). Overall, I'm coming back. The only thing that was a hassle was getting out of the parking lot to find this place, but other than that... I'm literally in love. If you're looking for a "clean" meal, I'd highly suggest Okdongsik. Also staff are super friendly and very attentive as well!!

After the pop up in ewa. I was so glad that I heard that okdongsik was coming back not only as a restaurant but it's in town which is a plus for me! I got the usual with the katsu. My picky child really liked the katsu so we're definitely coming back!
