I rent a sedan through Uber and Scootie at the budget/Payless counter was soo helpful. He was very patient with me even when I was being a little difficult. They some how ran out of sedans and he was able to upgrade us to a better option. A JEEP! We really appreciate Scootie and everything he has done for us. We need more kind and patient people like him!

the worst car rental company ever! we booked a car on the night of February 3rd, and on the afternoon of February 3rd we arrived at Honolulu airport. First, we didn't know where to pick up the car, because they didn't send us any information. Then we finally found where to pick up the car, when we arrived they asked for our credit card (they didn't want to accept a debit card), and said that every day +25 dollars because we are 24 years old, and we are considered young drivers. in the end we had to ask for our age. and ATTENTION: we still haven't received our money back! more than 20 days have passed!!! We called the bank and asked to make an age of our funds, an investigation is currently underway. return our money Payless! I will never recommend this company to anyone!!!

LATE FEE SCAM Booked rental through Expedia until 6 pm 1/19. Brought the car back 15 to 20 minutes early. I was a bit suspicious. The guy checking in the car refused to do a receipt on the spot. He took some notes on a notepad. I questioned another person about a lack of receipt and he said I would get the receipt in the email by the time my flight lands. After my flight landed I saw the receipt with a return time of about 1:30 am with a late fee!!! Supposed return while I was on a flight. I have times of when luggage was checked in and being on a flight. Based on the conversation, it seems to be their usual practice to issue much delayed email receipts - ? For the purpose of extracting a late fee? Insist on an instant receipt like every other rental company does. Check your receipt carefully. I will file a complaint with BBB and FTC.

I rented a car from Payless at a reasonable price. Car seemed fine until I turned it off at my hotel. It would not restart. I had to talk to customer service, wait for tow truck, Uber back to airport for replacement, then return to my hotel. I wasted the one nice day in Oahu because of car issue. Manager, Leonard, said that after I pay for rental upon returning it I would be comped for entire rental fee plus taxes. I texted him many times and tried calling him. He never answered phone and initially texted that refund was being processed. Seemed like a nice guy. Nope, he lied and the company would not acknowledge that the car was to be comped due to wasting my time. I understand that cars may suddenly break down. It would have been better if Payless brought a car to me when the tow truck finally arrived to pick up the broken car. There is no excuse for lying and causing me a lot of grief during an expensive vacation. Will never use Payless again no matter what price they give to me. Absolutely not worth the trouble. STAY AWAY!
