Disappointing experience with Sixt at the Alohilani Hotel, Waikiki Beach - unjustified charges and poor vehicle condition I rented a vehicle from the Honolulu branch for one day at a clearly stated rate of $143, paid by credit card. The on-site service was professional and confirmed that I had paid an all-inclusive rate -- no additional fees, no deductible. A week later, an unexpected charge of $63.49 appeared on my account. The branch manager acknowledged the error (a deposit was charged even though I had selected the no-deposit option and returned the vehicle), offered a refund, and kindly lowered the total to $124.99. He even invited me to photograph the screen confirming the refund and discount. After leaving Honolulu, I received two partial refunds ($20.81 and $42.93), followed by a new charge of $63.49. After more than two weeks of communication, customer service informed me that the initial refund had been a mistake and that the final invoice was $187.94. The case was closed with no possibility of appeal, and the local branch is unreachable. I do not recommend this company: even after paying by card with no deposit, they charge additional amounts without clear explanation, and there's no way to contact the branch directly. For a second rental, I was charged $219.33 instead of the originally quoted $143. Although a partial refund was issued, $63 is still missing from the first rental. If they're skimming $60 per rental like this, no wonder they can afford fancy cars. That said, my first rental -- a gray Mustang convertible -- had a blocked driver's door (I had to enter from the passenger side) and a faulty roof. We drove with the top open at night on the highway. When I reported it, they replied, "It's not a big deal lol." The second vehicle had no CarPlay. PS: none of their vehicles have GPS. (All the evidence is documented in photos)

My mistake for not checking YELP reviews! IF I read the reviews, I WOUD NOT RENT from this Company! Please see Yelp and Google reviews of the rental company, which include multiple reports of experiences similar to ours - we feel this is a big SCAM! We had originally requested a Toyota Camry - however, the only vehicle available when we arrived was a BMW. I was very uncomfortable taking out the car as it was full of scratches and scuff marks. The valet, who manages delivery and drop-offs, said to take photos to document damage. (It is our responsibility!) I took a long video but unfortunately it did not store. After dropping off the car, the deposit was refunded. About 3 weeks later, I received a damage report requesting about $800 for a scratch to front driver's side rim! We parked at the hotel and parking lots - driving in and backing out only. At no time did I have to parallel park. The condition of the rim looks pretty beaten up.

Rylan was extremely helpful and efficien. He was meticulous and thorough. He made the process of renting a vehicle easy and enjoyable. On top of that, he was very kind and accommodatin. I highly recommend renting a car from him and Sixt!

DO NOT rent from this SIXT! They will do everything possible to steal your money. I rented a white Toyota Camry and noticed scratches when I picked it up, so I took multiple photos. Two days after returning the car, I received an email claiming I was responsible for a 10-cm scratch on the front passenger bumper. Of course, I documented the bumper because it's massive! When I called the SIXT claims office to confirm they received my evidence, they had the audacity to say they weren't sure if it was the front passenger side! AVOID this location at all costs!

READ ALL THE OTHER REVIEWS, RENT AT YOUR OWN RISK AND BE PREPARED TO BE SCAMMED!! My recent rental experience with Sixt at the Alohilani Resort in Honolulu was beyond disappointing--it was troubling. The car I received was visibly worn, with numerous scrapes, dents, and signs of wear that were initially documented electronically. However, after Sixt later accused me of causing a tiny nick and submitted the attached photo to their claims department, I checked my rental record only to find that the detailed documentation of damage I'd originally seen had been reduced to just the one item they claimed I caused. When I picked up the vehicle, there were about six or so damage notations; seeing that disappear in the record was unsettling and raised serious concerns about their record-keeping integrity. If you rent from this location, I highly recommend saving your rental record with all existing damage to your phone, as it appears details could be altered after the fact. Thankfully, Sixt's claims department eventually dismissed the branch's damage claim, but it was an unnecessary ordeal. On top of that, Sixt charged me for an extra rental day, claiming I returned the car late. I sent an email letting them know about the discrepancy and received a voicemail from Sixt asking to discuss. I subsequently tried reaching them multiple times, leaving messages, but never got any further follow up. This was despite providing them my airline ticket showing that I left Hawaii the day before they alleged I returned the car. After reading other reviews, I discovered many similar complaints about this location--others have reported unfounded damage claims. It seems these practices are not isolated incidents. Given my own experience, their attempts to pin damage, charge an extra day, and manipulate records, I would strongly advise against renting from this Sixt branch. I travel frequently for both business and leisure, renting cars often, and I have never had such issues with any other rental company. This is only my second time renting from Sixt, and after this experience, it will be my last. For anyone still considering this location, be sure to document every detail and save a copy of your rental record. It's clear that diligence on the renter's end is essential to address potential scams this location may try to pull.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! They are dishonest and completely unprofessional. Like many of the other reviews, they tried scamming us. They are reaching out a year after our car rental to charge us for supposed damages. This is extremely frustrating and ridiculous! Save yourself the headache and choose another car rental company!

When I arrived, it was 1 in the morning with three kids we didn't have time to take a photo or video of the jeeps condition and I don't think that would've done any good because it was too late and too dark in the parking lot anyways to see this little scratch that somebody left on their car. But after returning, the guy didn't say anything to me about it, but then they pinned it on me as if I did it. We only drove this car once around the island. This is definitely not damaged from us, but yet they will send you to collectors and try to get every little bit of money they can from you. I would go anywhere but this company. After calling them they said that the previous person had claims on them as well from damage around the jeep. Well, it's pretty obvious that that was from them as well, but they just didn't log it so they pinned both of us for the same damages. ‍ they'll never see a dime

I rented a GMC SUV for a few days, returned it with not a scratch on it and have photos to prove it. They come back with some bogus claim that there's this tiny scratch on the drivers door! What a scam of a place! I hope they go out of business

When our plans changed and we needed to have the rental car for the entire duration of our trip, instead of just 3 days in the middle, I needed a new rental car company as our previous company only did pick up and return in Waikiki. SIXT had good reviews and they were within walking distance of our hotel. They also, crucially, had the option to drop off at the airport. The staff at pick up was very nice, and friendly. We got an upgrade to a bigger car for free. Pick up is with the valet of the hotel that the rental desk is located inside. It's a little weird because there's no walkthrough of the car, but it was in good condition so we had no issues. Drop off at the airport was easy and there's a shuttle bus on the first floor that will take you to your terminal. I'll update if I get any weird charges on our rental, but so far, we had a very pleasant experience with SIXT.
