Incredibly good and unique food experience! Highly, highly recommend! The staff are all so nice and helpful, interior is very clean with a chill vibe! Small recommendation: when an egg is ordered with the dish, I honestly wished either the kitchen would place it on top before serving, OR create a space at the very top so a customer like me have a chance at placing the egg at the top. It was a little sad when I tried to dump my egg, it just rolled straight down to the side

Loved my visit to Totoya! I came with my husband and six month old infant in a stroller, and the staff was so accommodating despite it being a small space. The negitoro bowls were soo delicious and fresh, I wish I could've ate here again when in Hawaii. It reminded me of being in Japan for sure! Will definitely come back when in Oahu.

Delicious order of the salmon, scallops & roe....add a special mix they specialize in (No idea what it was) , seaweed & miso soup. The miso soup didn't stand out, but the fish was excellent. They have everything there to help yourself with extra creativity... Sesame seeds, soy sauce with garlic & ginger mix, also fresh ginger. Great experience... good food, They are attentive to your needs, patient with explaining the menu & a joy to receive the service. There was no wait since it was raining the day I went. It's a small shop with bar seating. I ordered the original negitoro bowl which is tuna and tobiko, soy sauce egg yolk and the clam miso soup. Total came out to be around $25. The soy sauce egg elevates the dish so I highly recommend getting it. The tuna tastes fresh and rice wasn't too vinegary. The clam miso soup was bit too salty but refreshing to have after eating rice.

Great place to try. The atmosphere and customer service was on point. The staff were very welcoming. Went when they opened on a Saturday morning, no wait. Very fresh and you can tell the staff put a lot of work into their food. I ordered the bowl with sea urchin and crab. I think I would order without sea urchin and crab next time. It was just nice to try for the first time. The crab taste was very light because of all the flavors from everything else over powered the crab taste. Also the crab and urchin portion was small. The order comes with miso soup and two pieces of seaweed. I wish it came with more. The staff will ask if you want more seaweed but they don't mention there is a small charge for more seaweed. Menu is simple and straightforward. Like how there's pictures too. Parking is street parking.

After it being on my bucket list for so long, I'm so happy that I was finally able to try Totoya! It was definitely a day off of work well-spent, because between it being a random Monday afternoon and them recently opening their Ala Moana location, there was no crowd at all, so we were seated immediately. As someone who's a bit picky about seafood, I ordered their most basic negitoro bowl, the Ume, and was absolutely blown away by how fresh and delicious everything was! The negitoro was a perfectly balanced blend of flavors and textures that turned this meal into a whole experience. They also conveniently provide a list of different ways you can eat each bowl with nori and various condiments, and you truly can't go wrong with any of their recommendations. The service was great as well--everyone greeted us enthusiastically and was very attentive! And maybe it's because it wasn't crowded, but we got our food really quickly after ordering! Overall, this was such a great experience, and I'm already looking forward to coming back!

This place is great! They have some shared parking in the back and using the code on their door gets you an hour free, which I really appreciate. I came in with my girlfriend for lunch and waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. They have sort of bar seating and everything about this place reminds me of Japan, from the service to the tiny little corner sink in the restroom. We ordered a Matsu and a Nishiki with the shoyu egg and the bowls we got were great! Between the 2 I'd probably do the Nishiki again just for the variety and freshness of all the types of seafood. Definitely get the shoyu egg though!

Fresh, delicious, and worth every bite! The quality here is amazing -- everything tasted so fresh and flavorful, from the sashimi to the ikura. Portions are generous for the price, making it very reasonable compared to other spots. The wait wasn't bad at all, only about 15 minutes, which is totally worth it for the quality. The restaurant is small, but the atmosphere feels welcoming and almost like you're in Japan. If you're looking for authentic flavors, high-quality seafood, and a cozy Japanese dining experience, this is definitely the spot!

Everything was pretty good, most of the seafood was pretty fresh. However the color on the shrimp and the taste of the shrimp was a bit off. I ordered the bowl with the tuna, uni, salmon, scallop and shrimp. Added the shoyu egg and a house salad. The meal came with a miso soup of choice. I chose the salmon miso which was pretty good. The soup camp with small salmon bites. Service was quick and no wait. We came here after dining at KOKO head cafe. I wouldn't go out of my way to get this but since it was convenient, I thought it was pretty worth what you get for the price. Don't compare this to Japan quality! Because you will be disappointed.

I normally don't like green onion and or salmon roe but I ate every bit of those ingredients they put in my bowl! I think their fresh egg yolk shoyu may have contributed to this so it is imperative that you try that with whatever bowl you get (my friends also told me beforehand that it's a key factor to try). My meal cost me roughly ~$40 which isn't cheap but the quality made it worth. Me and my friends went in on a Sunday evening ~7:30 and luckily did not have to wait. The inside is small but cozy and they don't take reservations. Our waitress was very friendly, attentive, and even took a cute Polaroid of our group to add to the wall! They gave us punchcards afterward and if I were more local, I would easily fill it up fast.
