My family discovered this place on a whim and will never go anywhere else for carnitas now. They have been going there pretty regularly now and are always thrilled with the quality of the carnitas, but especially, the chicharrones. They are probably the best chicharrones in the region. Service is good, you'll definitely have everything you need - but it does take a bit long so be prepared. If you're looking for a quick in and out place, you may want to order ahead. Carnitas seem to taste a bit better on the weekends for some reason, but they are still excellent throughout the week. The tortillas are handmade there and are large and come out warm. They have a great assortment of other tacos too and drinks. It's a very no frills place but the team working there is super friendly and will make you feel welcomed!

The best carnitas I have ever tasted. I mean seasoned all the way through, every bite flavorful. Try them in tacos, quesadillas, tortas, nachos, any choice you make will be a good one. Again, the best carnitas I have ever tasted. Love their pig collection.

My band stopped here before a gig at Blue Island Beer Co. The first thing we noticed was the Mexican meats case and the giant chicharrones displayed in a glass box (a big hit with those who partook). For me, it was the warm homemade tortillas--I am still dreaming of them. The carnitas tacos were very authentic (I am from California, so I should know). The meat is juicy, seasoned and perfectly cooked. Hot sauces, red and green, were provided in squeeze bottles (both were very good with nice heat). You can't go to a place called carnitas and not have carnitas! You won't be disappointed.

One of the best places i have ever gone to for CARNITAS! The service is fast and straight forward. Currently, due to covid they have a perfect system. Form a line, order along the right side of the window to order food there, and pay on the left window. Simple and easy enough. The staff is friendly, and very patient when taking orders. The only reason they didn't get a perfect 5 stars is that sometimes they don't accept cards if their card machine is down, so to avoid a headache bring cash! All you need to go for are carnitas and menudo. They're both so good! Tortillas a mano, too, so you know it's legit. Considering the food is fresh, there have been times I drove my hungry ass to Blue Island for menudo and they didn't have any or I went for carnitas and they were out, new batch wouldn't be ready for a while. Also the lines are very long, but that just says more about how good the carnitas are then anything.

Delicious food. Fresh carnitas! But I would love to see better customer service. Today we went to have early dinner. One of many times we have gone to eat and we had to get up multiple times to ask for more food,limes etc. When the ownerd are there service is great.

Everybody's familiar with the old saying that you never get a second chance to make a first impression right? Well Carnitas did not make a good first impression at all! This was my first experience here today; I go in and order a steak quesadilla with a side of rice and beans. They don't have the shells to make quesadillas and they're out of rice and beans! Right off the bat I'm like, what the fuck?! Then I chose two tacos Instead, one steak and one chicken, and they give me 2 steak tacos! Which of course I didn't realize until I was long gone and couldn't go back! Then I go to pay and the guy tells me that he can't change my $20.00 bill even though my total was almost $12.00 bucks. I tell him that's all I have other than 5 singles and he tells me to just give him the 5 singles and pay the rest later if I could! What the hell kind of place is this?! Well, How was the food you ask? It was okay, but there are way too many good Mexican joints to eat at in Blue Island (i.e. Durango, Esparza's, El Ranchito etc.) to waste my time here. I had the 2 tacos and a torta and like I said they were just okay. This place will really have to improve their customer service before I ever come back.

Hi, yesterday was a buy chicharron (2 pounds), when I got home I tested it and it was completely rancid. stay away of this mother fuckers. Ayer fui a comprar chicharron casi dos libras, cuando llegue a la casa lo probe y estaba completamente rancio, no regrese a reclamarles porque estaba muy enojado y no queria mentarles la madre enfrente de todos. pero son unos tramposos hijos de su puta madre. cuidado si entran a este lugar de dudosa reputacion.
