Checked out this humble looking ass bar. Double Play Saloon is one of the popular places in Blue Island. If you couldn't already tell, it's a place to play games, such as slots. Also has more than a few drinks. The food offerings are basic and greasy. Basic looking place in one of the unfortunate suburbs around. It's a great fit for the area at least. The inside of it is quite small and is always crowded no matter whenever. Has a list of drink specials that are daily. It's always $5 to get a pint of Bud Light or a shot of whiskey. As for the food it's the usual fried and meaty. It's about $7 to get things like burgers, sandwiches, or whatever. Again the menu is mostly meaty. They have chips and popcorn. For sure it's not a high class establishment. It's open late. They have lots of games such as slots.

Depending on the bartender, this place can be a really fun time. Many go there for their partially enclosed outdoor patio (smoking allowed) which has high tables and bags to play. Some days the bar itself can get impossibly crowded as a lot of people go here in large groups. They have great lunch specials and cheap beer specials too. Beer options are standard, mostly domestic bottles and cans with only a few craft options like Founders All Day IPA and 1-4 from Blue Island Beer Company. There's just a few taps, maybe 4 total? The best things for me are probably the grill behind the bar where all the food is cooked to order by your bartender, as well as all the cool events that their owner organizes. He's super involved in the community which is awesome! There's local bean bag tournaments, meat auctions, put put golf tournaments, and roast beef events. It's all super fun. Definitely worth checking out for a cheap burger and beer special. Cheers!

My mom used to take me here when I was a kid in the 90s. I haven't been since, but I remember the cigarette vending machine keeping me occupied when I got bored.

Let me just say that if you don't live down the street from this place or have been told about it, then you would never know it was there. So far, this is THE dive bar of all dive bars I've been to. The inside is super small and is definately not booming with business. The so called "beer garden/outside area" is actually a big garage-like room. I felt like I was drinking back some beers at a stranger's house rather than a bar. You'd think that this place would have some type of theme considering the name, but instead it seems to be a place for an underage crowd to go to, give the "i'm a tough guy act", and feel "cool" about being in a bar. There is nothing special about this place at all. It gets an extra star for having "bags" available for play. Something you can really only find on the south side.
