This was a great place for gyros and hot dogs and hamburgers in the 90s. I was in town and went by for a gyro and hot dog. Kind of middle of the road ok only. Recognized some of the same guys behind the counter, but Toupee Guy was missing.

As always, T&G made the best gyro/plate. When you have a taste for gyro and you want the best, call in your order or visit T&G Gyro's Great service by pleasant employees. I submit one of gyros I made by ordering the gyro plate from the menu. Incredibly delicious!!!

T & G Gyros is the number 1 Blue Island staple you should have tried by now. The food is absolutely stunning, for fast food is amazing and really fast. It was recommended by employees and local citizens to try this place and was told the price was reasonable. By now i have tried every single thing in the menu but my first time order was the big baby, a burger with a drink and fries. i always go with number one on every single new restaurant i go and to try their signature dish and of course it was delicious. next time i came back i order myself the gyro platter, fries and a drink and wow, that was my first time trying a gyro and let me tell you it was so mouthwatering. I told myself that the price was pretty average until I got the dish.. the gyro was huge!! Very generous is portions and the gyro was full of meat. since then i always get the fries. they are so addicted. i always see myself coming back for more Definitely worth the money and it was very tasty. Very good and very nice service, the people working there are so friendly and amazing. I will definitely come back, because i have been coming back for the last past year.

This place-joint has been a staple corner Burger and Gyro spot forever and ever...... Not the most luxurious place to dine or so forth but just a solid good eats spot to takeout or sit down and eat...No Fine Dining here just Blue collared people coming in and out for grub!! Mostly takeout ordering going on but this local favorite has been consistently the same for Year's and Year's even after all the Massive changes in the immediate area!! Good mix of Greek Classic Foods and also some simple Mexican dishes too!! Older and outdated decor with 70's style colors but functional and practical location. Same worker's and owner for many,many Year's here..... Curbside parking on the streetside and pretty limited seating but can handle small to average crew's..... Decent quality eats with a decent price to go along with it..

I hadn't been to many diners in the last year so when I got the chance I stopped by T&G to see what they had to offer. The interior is your standard hole in the wall diner Customer service: Cashier seemed grumpy. I don't know if it was the fact that I wore a mask or her just being crabby, but if it was the mask then take the sign that says "masks required to enter" off your door. I noticed she also was crabby & seemed to not know how to take a phone order when someone called in. She acted like it was a telemarketer calling her at home, proceeding to ask how they got the number (they dialed it from Google Maps,) where they were calling from, etc. instead of simply asking delivery or pick-up then taking their order since it was pretty obvious the conversation was about ordering food. I honestly think she talked the customer out of placing an order since they just ended the call on her. The chef himself was very friendly, greeted regulars by name & diligently prepared the food. People definitely were vibing with him which she should take a cue from since she barely spoke to people then stood silently in the background the entire time I was there. 3/5 Fries: Shoestring. Light gold. Massive amount...easily seveal potatoes worth of fries. A good amount of salt. Fries are slightly dry, but overall good. 4/5 Double cheese burger - I usually expect a diner to have a decent burger & this met that standard. Would like a bit more cheese (a higher quality cheese would be nice too) on a double cheese burger. Perfectly cooked & warm, but for a menu item named the "Big Baby" it didn't hold up to it's name since it only had sauteed onions (if these were supposed to be caramelized they were way undercooked,) pickles, mustard & ketchup. It could've used some fresh tomatoes & maybe some lettuce. 3/5 Overall T & G Gyros is ok. I'm not tempted to try out the gyros though. It's a bit underwhelming, but it won't break your bank. The doublecheese burger "Big Baby" combo came with a ton of fries & a drink for a little over $8. 3 out of 5 stars

I ate here once before today ( Monday April 8, 2024 ). I came over from working nearby in June of 2023 and had a really good gyro sandwich and the French fries were really good, too. When I got back to work, I mentioned to a coworker I ate here and they said they felt T & G French fries were as good as McDonalds and I agreed. I wasn't planning on eating lunch here today but when my original near T & G lunch plan fell thru, I thought to come here. The 2 Hamburger with fry special for $7.09 caught my eye ( picture included ) and that's what I ordered with a small diet soda. I forget if T & G carries Coke, Pepsi or another product. I think it was either a Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi. Regardless, the diet soda was good. The total came to $10.01 but the gentleman behind the counter was fine asking for $10. T & G does charge a 3.99% fee if a card is used. I gave the gentleman a $10 bill. I ate at the restaurant. They have quite a few booths to sit at. Seems like most people were getting their orders to go. My lunch was prepared in an acceptable time frame for a fast food place. Hamburgers come with ketchup, mustard, pickle and onion. I got mine with no onion. I took a picture of my meal. It may be tough to tell but the ketchup, mustard and pickle were put on the bottom bun and the hamburger on top. Not a dealbreaker for me. Just mentioning. Love that they give you a ketchup bottle versus 10 packages of ketchup to open and squirt out. They only had one mustard bottle so the cook squirted some mustard in a cup for me. The 2 hamburger special and fry were good. The fries weren't as great as they were the first time I was here but still good. I asked if there were free or reduced refills of the soda and the gentleman at the cash register said no but he did offer me a free refill. I think if you're nice to the employees such as showing patience and saying please and thank you, he'll give you a free refill as an appreciative gesture. Maybe not. That's just my take. I would give T & G 3.5 stars but since there is no 3.5 star option, the ketchup bottle and generosity of a free soda refill has me selecting 4 stars. If I am hungry and nearby, I would consider T & G for my meal. I wouldn't be hungry at home and think to come to T & G. Just if I am out and about, hungry and nearby.

My husband grew up in Blue Island so when we get back to the area to visit, T and G's is a special treat (this place and rainbow cone!). I have only had the Gyro and that is probably the only thing I will ever have because it is so good! I especially love the garlicky cucumber sauce that is slathered all over. Yum!
