Stopped into Geno's Place hoping for a solid neighborhood spot, but it fell short this time. The place has potential -- a nice local crowd and a decent setup -- but the service was pretty slow, and it didn't seem very organized. The food was okay at best. The bartender was friendly enough but clearly overwhelmed, and there didn't seem to be enough staff for how busy it was. I wanted to like it -- the atmosphere has that classic South Side bar feel -- but the experience just didn't deliver. Maybe it was an off night, but based on this visit, it's hard to recommend without some improvements in service and consistency. I mean the staff was arguing in the kitchen and you could hear it at the bar. They have some work to do.

I celebrated my birthday here on Friday, 8/15, and it was a terrible experience. My family rented five tables on the patio, and guests came in from Indiana and Detroit to celebrate with me. Unfortunately, the night was ruined by poor service and unprofessional management. Staff didn't even acknowledge it was my birthday and tried to charge me and some of my guests at the door, even though they arrived before 10. The music was disappointing -- they catered only to one crowd and ignored all of my requests. I was originally told I could have my own DJ with insurance, but management later changed their word and said no. Inside was extremely hot, we had to beg just to get water, and our food didn't arrive until almost 10pm. I didn't even get to eat my cake there because I was so upset at how poorly my party was handled. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told none were present and that "I should have picked somewhere else." With more than 20 people in our group, we ended up leaving early to continue the celebration elsewhere. This was supposed to be a special night, but the lack of professionalism and customer service ruined it. I will never return and do not recommend this lounge to anyone.

It was an ok experience. It was crowded and the music was too loud. The service sucked. It took 15 minutes to get my drink order and she got it wrong. I will NEVER go back even though they do have a space to smoke cigars.

The catfish fillets are NOT real catfish and I literally asked the COOK after he stated catfish steaks were not available. It's chewy and has bo toast super thin and tiny OTS NOT CATFISH

Nice chill spot. Music could be a lot better. It's so much R & B available for the DJ to keep playing the same tired songs. The food is good for a fair price. Nice looking ladies from time to time. Black owned business. A little remolding would do it well.

if I can give this no stars I would this place is over crowded ppl spill drinks on you because you can barely walk the food is over cooked the bartenders are very drunk and can barley take orders because they are already drunk I highly don't recommend this place but the place over the metra tracks is way better and the ppl are way nicer
