I'm torn. Down stairs is an amazing selection of good food Being sold by humans. And upstairs it's a legit convenience store of items you may or may not to carry home on the train. Did they have a good price on a # of butter. Yes. Did they have hot dogs, yes but no brats or buns. The fella was helpful up front and showed me where the local food was at. Just a bit, but as he mentioned they previously had more. Here's hoping they have a plan to bring in more items like they had before. But maybe that is what the downstairs market is for. Or the cvs. Ogilvie-A multi shopping experience to gather food to make a meal. Just need to figure out how to comparison shop on the salads-def cheaper than pret a manager-cause ya know, Amazon. this place didn't live up to what they could be, a grocery store with more fresh or frozen local meats--as the city market downstairs doesn't do this. Imagine frozen sausage or chicken and it will thaw on a commute home in the fall. Sure there's a steak, but they have those downstairs and they're fresh. I grabbed a "local" Wisconsin cookie to make the experience complete for under $3. Maybe an ice cream sandwich on another day. And hey, how about some local salsa or taco sauce from frontera at least.

For those looking for it, this particular Amazon Go is located on the second floor of the Ogilvie Transportation Center aka "Citigroup building" (where you board the actual Metra train). If you're not familiar, Amazon Go is a grocery/convenience store concept by Amazon. Download the app (Amazon Go app... separate from the amazon app), scan it at the turnstiles, and away you... Go. Browse through groceries such as chips, grocery-made sandwiches and such. Prices are ripe for downtown, including a grocery premade wrapped sandwich for $7.50. The staff there is nice and was very helpful to guide you through the Amazon Go experience. Once you're done purchasing your items, just head-out through the exit-only turnstiles. There were a few customers queuing to leave, but the Amazon Go staff informed that there is no need. That's precious seconds saved! IMHO, its all hype. I get the convenience of not having to checkout when you're in a rush, especially if you have a train to catch. But besides the unique checkout process, I don't see the big deal about Amazon Go stores, making me rate the place A-OK. I don't hate it or love it, but kudos to Amazon for their evolving and innovative way of thinking. But yeah, for the convenience, its definitely nice to have another option to grab some stuff on the go. BATHROOM REVIEW: There is none that I saw, but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough

So, AmazonGo is a convenient one stop shop where you just grab and go and there's no checkout. You download the app, scan yourself in, gates open and you're off! If you bring a guest, you scan them in first and then yourself. Whatever you OR your guest grabs off the shelf will be charged to YOU. You can grab that granola bar, peruse nutritional facts, do a little dance, change your mind, put it back, choose chocolate instead and those hundreds of cameras in the ceiling track and only bill your final choice. Smart and scary all at the same time. There's employees stocking and standing at the entrance to assist first timers. Lots of options in all sections. Awesome fresh sandwiches (I had the chicken banh mi and it was fabulous), fresh ready to eat meals, salads, soups, just made breakfast items with microwaves available on site. Snacks and candy aisle for your afternoon pick me up, bakery items (think muffins and cupcakes), lots of yogurts, TONS of drink options, sushi (!), and some grocery items. They have Amazon Meal Kits to grab for dinner on the way home (think Blue Apron, Hello Fresh). You literally just walk out. It made me feel dirty the first time, but now I feel like a rock star! My last visit was like 45 seconds. BOOM! Receipt to follow in about 3-5 minutes after your visit. I thought at first "This is just an easy way for Amazon to over charge you". But, not true -- affordable! Many items are less than you'd think they would be.

The long shuttered Amazon Go at the Ogilvie station has reopened! The inventory is paired down from what it once was and the layout of the store had also changed. But you can once again scan grab and go. Of course with this style of business alcohol cannot be sold and as I mentioned the inventory is reduced. But you can grab a snack or a drink and off your go. I personally like to find myself to see how quickly I can grab something and get out. PS the way you enter will be changing/ updating bug I still have to figure out how that will workout, I think the Amazon Go app may be absorbing into the regular Amazon app.

When I first heard that a Go was coming to Chicago I had a sneaky suspicion that it was going to be in this space. For what it is this is a great addition to the Ogilvie Transportation Center. I downloaded the App a while back and had a reason to head in today as I forgot to grab my lunch out of the fridge this AM. I was in and out in 41 seconds this morning with a sandwich for lunch. With a wide selection of items there is something for everyone, food/drink wise. Easy Entry, just open the App as you approach, scan your QR'ish code at the turn style and in you go. Pro Tip - don't offer to grab anything for another guest for it will be affixed to your tab! How does it work? Witches, ghosts, fairies? Technology is so mysterious! Side note: Not sure why the O.R. needs a bathroom in a convenience store, especially as there are facilities one floor down.

I'm disappointed in what Amazon Go has become. When it first opened up in the train station, it seemed to have a great selection of things. There were a large variety of pop cans that cost less than a vending machine. There were local baked goods in the refrigerated section. They were constantly keeping the shelves stocked. Then things changed. They swapped out the large variety of cans to a very small, basic selection of bottles. The local baked goods disappeared. I can go past there multiple days in a row with shelves still being empty. They now have more "grocery" items like a half gallon of milk, butter sticks, cartons of eggs. Are these things that Metra riders want to grab and carry on their hour plus commute home? This convenience store is becoming less of a convenience every day.

This is my daily quick stop for drinks and snacks during my morning commute. Of course it's quick and easy where I normally only spent less than a minute picking up my items. I do wish they had a larger selection of items for lunch. Prices are a little high on some things like sandwiches and salads bowls.
