I went to the food court at the Ogilvie train station the other day, and there were the usual fast-food suspects lined up. One place caught my eye, even though it is way at the end of this huge food court on the street level. I had never seen American WildBurger before, so I thought I would give them a try. I was amazed to hear from the friendly young lady at the counter that this place has been in this food court for over a year now. This place features grass-fed beef burgers, along with relatively healthy selections like a turkey burger, salmon sandwich, and even a vegan kale burger. They also have breakfast sandwiches. Since I was having an early lunch, I wanted to try one of the weekly specials. On Wednesdays they have a combo meal with a bacon cheeseburger, fries and fountain drink for $8.79. This sounded like a good deal, as normally the bacon cheeseburger costs that much as it is, so it was like getting fries and drink for free. The order took a few minutes to prepare, but I was sort of expecting that. The bacon cheeseburger was a very hefty burger, with ketchup, mustard, pickle slices, and onions atop a nice sized bun. I wish I could say that the burger tasted great with all of these fine ingredients (cheese! bacon!), but it was just okey-dokey. The bag of fries was a huge order, but they had almost no flavor and the ends of many of the fries were hard and inedible. These were some of the most disappointing fries that I have had in years. It's nice that this was a grass-fed all natural no preservatives meal, but it was also lacking in the flavor department as well. Disappointing lunch to say the least.

"Gobble, gobble, gobble," said the turkey before it was made into a most delicious burger at American Wildburger. And gobble, gobble, gobble is what I did to that burger, which explains why there is no picture to show. My turkey burger really hit the spot, and it was juicy and quite tasty. I ordered it with tomato, lettuce, mustard, and mayo (no onion). It just seemed like a really healthy thing to eat. I did have to go looking for the joint. It's stuck all the way in the back of the food court in a corner. I almost missed it, but I'm sure glad I found it, and it was only 2 blocks from the Amtrak station. I got it to go and gobbled it down as the train pulled out of the station.

The search for more in the West Loop continues when every restaurant gravitates west of I-90/94 around Fulton Market. Some forget there are amazing places in the West Loop east of I-90/94. American Wildburger is one of those gems hidden within the suburban commuter Metra Train Station called Ogilvie Transportation Center. Originally hailing from Des Plaines (https://www.yelp.com/biz/american-wildburger-des-plaines). This burger spot has more to offer than their typical fast food neighbors offering grass fed beef burgers arguably in my option tastes better. Their menu is short and sweet due to the fact they have a small space. Think Asian hawker stalls only serving what they do best. And yes this burger is solid. I ordered the All American Cheeseburger served with grass fed beef, cheddar, ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, raw onion, tomato, and fresh pickle all on an egg bun. Burger cooked medium rare (how it should be) with all fresh ingredients including the pickle. Not that store bought room temperature flimsy ogre green you call a pickle. A fresh pickle that gives a crunch like the fresh lettuce that the burger was topped with. Because of the space and recent opening, there were no fries or chicken nuggets that will be offered in the future. The staff was energetic and knowledgeable unlike their neighbors that treated you like a number serving food to keep you alive. For a place like this, all they need is a counter and window but hopefully some additional character. You should go and I will be back. Welcome to the West Loop American Wildburger! I liked it. Grass fed burger was meaty and juicy. Friendly service and it's a break from McDonald's and other fast food chain like burgers we have all known to come to love. But a break is needed from them so we can eat some qualify meat. Overalls I was good I thought their fries were super crispy. I would probably next time just get their burger and walk over to the McDonald's for the fries! Mix and match all you want it's a giant food court after all.

Decent burger. I got the all American cheeseburger for lunch one day when I was really craving a burger and thought it was okay. It's a good size and has all the standard toppings of a burger - cheddar, ketchup, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles on an egg bun. The burgers use organic, grass fed beef with no preservatives. They offer chicken, turkey, and kale burgers and I know there is also a Memphis bbq burger, philly burger, and blue cheese burger as well. For toppings, you can get your basic ones or the premium ones: mushrooms, cole slaw, avocado, fried egg, and pick de Gallo. Overall, good burger but kind of expensive. They do have daily deals though.

The burgers here are amazing, they are huge with an awesome soft fresh pretzel bun never greasy never dry, their toppings are fresh, their french fries are consistently crisp and perfectly salted even for catering which was shocking! This place is right up there with some of the best!

Don't order via Grub Hub I'm thinking this would be tastier in the restaurant. But I see that they offer a lot of delivery options. PASS! I got a lettuce wrapped kale burger with onions, blue cheese etc and the GF fries 1- the lettuce on the wrap was meager. it was like the lettuce you get in a burger, not a wrap 2 - onions are chopped so everything just falls apart. You think burgers have rings of onion right? 3 - The blue cheese turned out to be basically mayonnaise with some blue cheese chunks ... a saucy nastiness that just made for ultra soggy wrap that did not have enough lettuce to hold everything 4 - Extra pickles means 2 pickles 5 - They put pretty much a 2:1 ratio of mustard to ketchup so therefore even with nasty mayo like blue cheese wanna be and a bit of ketchup ... i basically ended up with a mustard burger 6 - Speaking of ketchup, i had to PAY for a side of ketchup, which was NOT delivered 7 - The french fries came in soggy and cool. I did have a microwave, but no ketchup ... and they lacked a bit of salt. Although i am a salt fiend. Pros -- I do think if i was in-restaurant, this would have been pretty good. At least i could have rectified it. But really the food prep was overly-sauced to the max on mustard and mayo-blue cheese (which it just says crumbled blue cheese which is a fallacy) ... and they left the ketchup off which was very painful. I don't blame the driver much ... the burger was hot and the fries not .... and really, the restaurant is responsible for making sure all components of the order are there.

This restaurant is amazing. Excellent burger. Very kind staff. The cajun fries are amazing! They have many gluten free items which you don't always get from a restaurant with an emphasis on burgers. My dad and I left with smiles on our faces because the staff was so kind and the food was so good. Such a nice find in DesPlaines. We will definitely be back again :)

Just tried their salmon sandwich WOW!! A little heat, peppers, onions, tomato and avacado... the Best!! They have healthy burgers.. kale, all types.. wish they would come out to Algonquin!! Great portion size.. perfectly cooked!!
