Kind service. All women working there I thought was cool. Lots of foot traffic. Clean. Tasty salsa! Cinnamon coffee smelled and roasted amazing! Ran out of ground beef for tacos but I was fine with the chicken.

A group of us went to Cardona's recently for an early dinner after consuming some neighborhood paletas (we ate dessert first - ya we are cool like dat). It was a very pleasant late Sunday afternoon, so we ate in the outdoor patio behind the restaurant. It seems that customers cannot go directly from the inside of the restaurant to the patio - you just kind of have to walk around the exterior to get to it. We had the patio to ourselves during this visit. We were given a basket of chips with salsa to start things off. My love ordered a burrito and liked it, though at first glance it seemed on the small side. In contrast, my pambazo with chorizo and potato filling was quite sizable and very messy to eat. In case you've not had a pambazo, it is sort of a toasted sandwich where the bread roll is soaked on the exterior with mild red chile sauce. Others in our party liked the tacos that they ordered.

Delicious and authentic food! Never a disappointment when we dine in or do take out. We moved into Albany Park about a year ago and there's nothing like food from Cardonas. You can tell it is a family owned business They were kind enough to help me order Huaraches to bring in to work for my co workers to try. Now we have a new favorite restaurant! We have yet to try the rest of the menu but I am positive everything is just as delicious!

A neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Went here with a friend who comes here frequently. The food is just average and overpriced for a Mexican restaurant. There are plenty of other places that are a lot better than this one. Had the carne asada (broiled steak) with nopalitos (cactus) It comes with rice, beans, a salad, and tortillas. I expected skirt steak skirt steak, like you usually receive Anna Mexican restaurant, but this meat tasted like a lower cut of meat. The other meal that we tried was the chuletas de puerco (2 pork chops) with grilled onions. This also came with rice, beans, salad and tortillas. The pork chops were paper thin and very unappetizing. The third item that we ordered was a chicken pambazo, which is like a torta with chicken, beans, cheese, and salad inside. Sadly it was lacking in all of these ingredients. The best part of the meal was the handmade tortillas. I cannot recommend this place and highly doubt that I will return.

The tortillas were great, the service was good, the food tastes average and my pork chops were too thin. I stopped at this place on the recommendation of someone who lives in the neighborhood with great expectations. In a city where Mexican restaurants are found in every neighborhood, the food was just average; not bad to stay away from, but, not good enough to make it a destination. I ordered the "Chuletas de Puerco" (2 pork chops) dinner, and they were paper thin, the plate comes with rice, beens and salad; all on the same plate. The picture in the menu shows a full plate with about 1/2 inch thick pork chops, a slice of avocado and a lime wedge: I did not get any of this. One of my companions ordered the "Carne Asada con Nopales": (broiled meat with cactus) it comes with rice, beens and salad. This plate resembled the picture on the menu and the portions were more generous. However, the meat was something like sirloin, not skirt steak as expected,, the lime wedge and something like a roasted pepper as shown on the menu was not provided. My other friend ordered a chicken"Pambazos", basically a torta without beans, cream & salad but plenty of cheese instead. At least the way it was served. It was a lot of bread and very little else. I'm sorry, I can't recommend this place. Should they at least serve what their menu promises, I would give them another try.
