If I could give zero stars I would. Their online system to buy tickets was down and said to call. Half the time they don't pick up and it goes up a full voicemail. If you do get someone, he says he'll call you back but never does. Best off choosing a reputable company and get your moneys worth

Tour guide was great, but overall I would recommend elsewhere. They are not upfront or transparent about their pricing. The website showed one price, but we were charged significantly higher than originally advertised on the website; approximately $40 more. They require a hold on your credit card, I believe it was only $10, at the time the reservations are booked online. There is no receipt showing the amount you were charged for the hold, only the reservation time. Once you arrive for your tour you pay at that time. This is a scheme that seems to allow the company to change the price once you arrive for your scheduled tour. Unlike I did, please pay attention to the other reviews on Yelp for this company. This company has reviews on their website that are either handpicked or utterly fake/lies showing they are almost 5 stars. Honesty is the best policy and taking advantage of customers and their hard earned money is no way to operate a successful business.

This was by far the WORST Segway "tour" I've ever been on. I wish I could give zero stars. I also wish I would have read these reviews first, sadly we just went to the closest place to our hotel. There were 10 people in our group and the guide, Nickolai, took an exorbitant amount of time teaching everyone how to operate the Segway, there were only 3 people who actually needed a lesson, everyone else had previously been on segways. The tour was supposed to be from 12:30-2:30, we left at 12:30, went along Lakeshore Drive, stopped at the museum to get a couple of pictures, then to Soldier Field (but across the parking lot, we didn't even get close) then we turned around to go back. We stopped by the fountain, but only across the street, snapped some pictures, then kept heading back. Not once did we get any information about Chicago or any Chicago history, which is what these tours are all about. If we wanted to ride down Lakeshore and look at the sights we could've done that ourselves, and not pay over $60 for a ride on a Segway that should have been an actual informative tour! The "tour" ended at 1:17. It wasn't even an hour long, there was more time spent in his shop teaching everyone how to ride, when we didn't need an intense lesson. He also charges $3 tire insurance because if your tire goes flat, and you don't have insurance, you'll be charged $49. I felt like he was in a hurry to get through the tour because he really didn't care, and after getting an only 45 minute experience, I believe he really just wants your money for no effort on his part. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE THIS TOUR. It was awful.

This place is such a scam. DO NOT RENT HERE. There were so many hidden fees that they didn't tell us about then the bike seats were wet and our jeans got SOAKED. The bald guy that was wearing a "GUIDE" shirt was not sorry at all and didn't try to ease the situation. Instead he blamed it on us. Some advice to management: tell your customers what they're getting into before they pay to avoid shitty reviews. That's why you only have 2 stars. If your seats are wet, DONT SELL EM.. common courtesy.

Bait and switch on the price of our Segway tour. Online said $45 and when we arrived, told $65 or $55 if you pay in cash. Paid cash but they charged us "tax" which they did not charge to people paying credit cards. Another group was quoted $49 when they called and also told $65 when then arrived. Not a real tour - very little narrative. Worst Segway tour that I have taken.

I've never felt so cheated. We were so excited to go on this tour.. but they pretty much persuaded us not to b/c there was a little drizzle going on outside saying they can give us a "credit" for future with no expiration date. We were flying out that night and didn't have any plans to return to Chicago anytime soon, so we wanted to just go on with the tour. We were fine with getting a little rain. But they kept saying we the rain will be too much and said that we'd be able to use our vouchers in San Diego and San Francisco as well. So thinking they're doing what's best for us, we get the "credit" which is simply a hand written scribble on our receipt saying "credit - no expiration date". Um hello, this is NOT official. Do they even really have offices in San Fran and San Diego? The Tour is called "CHICAGO" Segway Tours. I feel so stupid to have believed them. After 5 minutes, we see that the rain pretty much stopped so we go back there to tell them we actually want to do the tour, but they closed down the place at 2pm in the afternoon! The weather was perfect for the next 2 hrs, so we could've done the tour and then some. And now we're charged with $135, with a dinky receipt that says "credit" and no future plans to visit Chicago. How can they scam people like this. They should've just given us a refund if we couldn't do the tour due to rain. HIGHLY do NOT recommend this tour. I feel so stupid to have not looked on Yelp prior to booking. Please learn from my mistake and call another Tour Guide. Please shoot me a message if you have any idea on how I can get my money back from this terrible company. I feel so cheated :(

I'm going to try and keep this as constructive as possible, but forgive me if I don't, because this company is, in a word, appalling at best. After arriving ON TIME at 11:50 when our reservation said arrival between 11:30-noon JOE proceeded to lead us into the sad excuse for the "office" within their facility, which is more like a glorified garage and began to rudely tell us we were late. He then told us we could not get on the tour since we were "SO LATE WE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO CATCH UP". After arguing with him, trying to tell him that had we of known we were supposed to come earlier than the scheduled time on the email we would have, but it was their system that fooled us. Not only that, when trying to confirm our reservation earlier the 800 number they use is ABSOLUTE SHIT (sorry). But it is, really. Not only do they never answer the phone (I know this because I called their office almost 20 times over two weeks leading up to this in order to confirm our dates), but when you call it always states their voicemail box is full. Then, when they call you back, the person is exceptionally hard to understand, does not want to help you, and actually got angry at me one time because I called to confirm and was "wasting his time", when how would I know if I was confirmed to come if the email they sent me clearly states "THIS DOES NOT CONFIRM YOUR RESERVATION PLEASE CALL IN ORDER TO CONFIRM IMMEDIATELY". Then, Joe told us to come outside of his office, and when we walked out he just walked away from us and ignored us. After another group of people came in late he took them into his office and they came out with reservations for the later tour, we then asked Joe how they got reservations and we didn't, then he called the "Corporate office" and said that his "files were updated" and that we then had spots for the later tour. Ok, "files were updated"???! The guy didn't have a computer in the entire facility and when he told us that he pulled out a wrinkled piece of computer paper with handwriting scrawled all up the sides. He also then told us we needed to pay an EXTRA $35 (we had bought the living social deal) over our voucher? When we asked Joe why we needed to pay he said since we cancelled last minute last week we needed to pay cancellation fees. Say what? Dumbfounded we asked him what the heck he was talking about. He said he heard we came in the week before, cancelled, were late, and now we have to pay for that. Uhhh, sorry buddy but that doesn't even make sense. The guy flat out lied to our faces, not only did we NEVER have a reservation for last weekend but we weren't even in Chicago last weekend!? He continued to try and scam us and after he fiddled around with his "files" for some time, called the "corporate office" a couple times (he didn't let me speak with them because there are cameras in the office watching him and he can only do what he is told)....we finally left. And didn't even go on the tour. The story is even longer and more disappointing but you get the idea. These people are CRIMINALS, take your money to City Segway Tours, I did a tour with them and they are phenomenal. And if you do suffer a severe brain injury and take a tour from these people, stay the hell away from this nutjob named Joe because not only will he talk to you about Jesus...he'll also lie to your face and take your hard earned money. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

My review is based on my experience in TRYING to go on a tour with Chicago Segway tour. I got a call from a friend who excitedly told me about a daily local deal (sort of like groupon) that she had seen online. She thought it would be something fun to do while I was in town for the weekend to give us a quick way to get a tour of her great city. The deal came up on Thursday day and I purchased my tickets. She called and made reservations for us for Friday morning. The tickets became"active" Friday morning for use, which was exactly what we had expected and were told would happen by the company when we made our reservations. Sadly, we showed up Friday and were a few minutes late because the directions on where to go were vague and had us waiting at their kiosk (with the big sign) near the Navy Pier rather than the actual meeting place which was up the street in some warehouse like area (with a small sign). After waiting 10 minutes we decided to call as we weren't sure if we were at the right place. We weren't. We let them know we would be there at 8:55 rather than the 8:45 requested but were on our way. We finally found it and we apologized profusely to the group and guide for being tardy. After a glare from the guide we settled in for the training. Once we got through the training, we went to show our guide the voucher with our deal and he just stared blankly at us like we were speaking in tongues. He then had to call "corporate" as he didn't know about this voucher situation and needed to confirm its use. He came back and told us that the voucher wasn't going to be valid until the following week! WTF. Umm, I had read the fine print prior to buying my $70 worth of vouchers (because I am anal and detail oriented like that) and NOTHING had been stated about waiting 5 days before the voucher could be used. In fact there were no date stipulations other than when it expired! If that was the case, I wouldn't have bothered purchasing the voucher as I was leaving in 2 days. Do the math. Voucher active in 5 days, I leaving in 2. Not so much. So we asked, begged, pleaded to get some clarification as it made absolutely NO sense why this voucher would become active and available for use if we couldn't use it immediately. The "guide" said he had no control and couldn't do anything for us. We asked for the best number to call to see if we could explain our situation. He then gave us a number that not only didn't pick up but the voice mailbox was full! We tried all morning to see if we could still possibly be approved for an afternoon tour and never got through. In any case, I am not sure about this company. It seems that they have had some variation of sketchy corporate business practices and will note not to use them when I am back in Chicago for a Segway tour considering that there are other vendors that other friends had glowing reviews for.

I had just broken up with my girlfriend... the one who was obsessed with going to antique stores... I couldn't take her 'retroness' anymore and like after most breakups I swing far to the 'other side'... not far enough to be gay or anything... but totally to the other side if you know what I'm talking about. I figured 'nerd chicks' were the way to go. That's as opposite of 'retro' as you could get and I figured maybe I could meet some ultra hot, very modern nerd chicks on a Segway tour. I don't know where my genius comes from like that but I just believe in it and go with it. I bought a ticket from Groupon... which is the first time I ever did that. When I called to book my tour, the owner, who is apparently from Greece was as previous reviews had pointed out... a little hard to understand on the phone. Who cares though I thought... I'm a little hard to understand on the phone too. So we had it out on the phone... in a fun way of course... accusing each other of not speaking clearly and having to ask each other to repeat what we'd just said over and over until we came to an 'understanding.' Damned if I know what that understanding was... but it sounded like he booked me for the next day so I headed out there to do some hotrodding on a Segway and meet some hot nerd chicks. Parking was easy enough and convenient at Navy Pier and cost $19 which I saved the receipt from and I'll tell the boss it was for work so it's free. I got there a couple of minutes late and they'd already started the orientation. I was disappointed to see that there weren't any hot single girls there but I had hopes that maybe I'd see some on the way and impress them with my ninjalike Segway skills. Which needed to become 'ninjalike' pretty quick 'cause those things take a couple of minutes to get used to. The owner hit me up for some more cash for 'taxes' and I just forked it over to him... because that's how it goes in the big city. He also told me about the 'flat tire insurance' and I declined that action. The little 'safety lecture' is something you prolly should pay attention to so I'm glad that there weren't any hot nerd chicks there to distract me. Meeting one's death on a Segway is probably gauranteed to insure humiliation for an eternity so do pay attention. Getting on the 'beast' was an experience in itself but you'll 'get it' in no time. And in no time I was zippin' around generating complaints from a couple of other people on the tour who thought I was a little bit out of control. Harrison... our tour guide had a little talk with me about it... but he was cool... and he knew I wasn't gonna hurt anyone but myself because that's the kinda guy that I am. I was lookin' forward to doin' some tricks on the thing... but it's hard because you can't do wheelies or anything... and I tried to channel my inner 'Evil Knievel' if you know what I mean. I thought about how I'd look wearing a red white and blue jumpsuit with a cape and jumping the Grand Canyon on a Segway... but then I was interrupted mid thought by the dude in front of me stopping without warning. As a side note... the Segway feels a lot like a 'horseless chariot' and that's pretty cool... I would like to buy one and start a 'Segway Jousting League.' Tell me that wouldn't be some kick ass fun! Harrison was an acting student at Roosevelt and he told a few good stories at different points along the way... mostly then I would tear off by myself and terrorize passersby on my bad ass Segway though. Harrison did ask me if I'd 'dial it down a little' pointing out that even though I was comfortable enough on the high tech zero emissions masterpiece that the Segway is... that other people were not and he pointed out that they were gonna get a face full of asphalt if I kept that action up. Actually he never said anything about the 'face full of asphalt' but it makes the story sound better... and I'm sure he thunk it. Since tour guides make most of their money through tips... as Harrison pointed out nicely enough at the end of the tour... I figured I could tear ass all day long and he'd just try to make it 'look like' he gave a shit by havin' a little talk with me here and there. I wonder if anyone's ever streaked on a Segway? I digress... as is my forte... but I had fun on this tour... I don't recommend doing it if you've had too much tequila the night before... but I quit at midnight... and I never met any hot nerd chicks like I had hoped to on my quest for the next ex-girlfriend and stuff... but I dig Segways... and I think you could come up with all sorts of ways to get yourself in trouble on one and cause general chaos with an environmentally sensitive high tech personal transportation device. And you know it would be the cat's ass after a couple of hits on the hitter if you catch my drift McFly. I HIGHLY recommend tryin' one of these bad boys out for yourself. If you can drive a barstool you can ride a Segway in no time. Rock the Segway!
