DUDE!!!! this place is awesome!!!!!!! Its like the SOuthside equivalent of Blue on Western ave! A latenight bar were all forms of life stumble in and get their last drinks of the night. wow.................oh man! Hispanic Thugs...check Dungeons and dragons looking white dudes...check Hot chicks...check 4 drunk Mexicans at the bar...check (that was us by the way) 2 degos in suits ...check! I even saw 1 hipster!!!!!!!!! Bro thats a rarity this far south! Everyone in the late night pursuit of massive drunkedness! this place is Legen........Wait for it...and I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the next word is....DAIRY! Groucho's is infamous as a late night establishment. A few years ago, New City included it in "Best of Chicago" as the "Best place to watch a fight". I asked a friend who frequented a few years ago and he gave me some line about the two reasons why dudes go to groucho's and once its clear that the first isn't happening they move onto the second. Full disclosure: I've never been here after 11 pm so I haven't seen it crowded and drunk. That said, i was impressed with the evening shift. Its actually a nice and large lounge with good food for a bar of its style. Don't expect to have your hair blown back, but their burgers are tasty and they seem to have a pretty large selection of wraps and appentizers better than most bars. Clean, sharp, good drinks and food...another good spot to watch the sox slowly make me concerned.

I'll come here again for the wicked deals! The tables were sticky and there was a weird smell lingering in the air, but we had a really great time making fun of the joint and eating the good food. We had some adult rock playing on the jukebox but someone came in and ruined it with all this crunk music. The music did not fit the bar! We left when Lil' Jon wouldn't shut his damn pie hole!

Groucho's is the perfect place if you're, a) on a budget and b)looking to keep the party going after 2 a.m. The place is open until 5 a.m., I know because I've been there til about 4:30. You can't find a better deal on Wednesdays, $3 domestic pitchers! All you need is a $10 spot to make your day. As far as the food goes, the wings are pretty good and the pizza will satisfy any drunkard. The place can get crowded after 2 a.m. once all the other bars have shut down. Trust me, I've seen some things. You'll wake up asking yourself, "Did I really see that last night?!?!" Don't forget to tip the ladies, they do a good job over by derre.

My boyfriend and I went there a few weeks ago, just to try it out, since it's near his house. It's not bad! Not a lot of people there at the time, but then again, it was on a Thursday, but we didn't mind. Had a few drinks and the tasty mini burgers for pretty cheap. I would go again.

Back in it's heyday, this was THE place to go - not just late night, ALL night. At one time, the Mecca of Southside DJs, Groucho's began to lose it's luster and customers to larger "box" bars like 115 Bourbon St. and McDuffy's. Many of it's loyal crowd moved into the burbs and it's late night license became a curse rather than a blessing. Things are changing, though. New promoters and a new attitude are turning this legend back into a musical hot spot. Focusing on more diverse acts and local talent, Grouchos aspires to become a musical destination for Southsiders. Featuring local talent like the Katie Sullivan Band to the eclectic sounds of Rico to Daryl Coutts to Muddy Waters' old slide guitarist, Smiley Tilmon, there are plenty of surprises and musical varieties in store for locals looking for quality acts in a classy atmosphere. The Wednesday night "Spud Jam" has a house band with an open mic for musicians to come and jam - no cover on Wednesdays, either. What's great is the kitchen is open until 2am weekdays and 3am on Fri. & Sat. nights.....SWEET! The food is very good and reasonable - try the Shrimp Diavolo if you like it spicy. As an old customer of this great bar, I'll be watching to see if the new promoters can pull this off. As a music fan, it's about time a neighborhood bar brings in local acts that represent the neighbors....

If you want attention from unattractive, obese security guards, this is definitely the place to go!!The security guard flashed his light on my ass as I walked in & was following me to the bar. When I complained & asked for a manager, the bartender said she was the manager (LIE!!). I mentioned it was inappropriate & rude & all she did was agree with me. I attempted to call but only get voicemail. Inexcusable behavior!
