Kyte was wonderful with their prices, drop off/pick up services & punctuality but held on to my $500. debit card deposit way too long after I had returned the car according to our contract. Customer: BEWARE! Also they do not tell you about the deposit until you are almost ready to book the car.

I actually had a very positive experience with Kyte. I was a little wary because the company seemed so new and the prices seemed a bit too good to be true but everything actually worked out super well. I rented a car in Chicago near the River North/West Loop area and it was significantly cheaper and simpler to book than any of the other rental car agencies. The pickup process was a little slow because the car was not ready for me on time but the car was clean, relatively new, and ran without any issues. My questions were responded to very quickly on the Kyte app, and there were no unexpected fees. If I'm renting again in Chicago, I will definitely be doing it through Kyte

DO NOT BOOK WITH KYTE. What a terrible experience. From lack of clear instructions to giving me the wrong car to delivering $10 credit in future use as their "solution" (even though I will NEVER use them again) to their TERRIBLE app which keeps freezing when I try to chat with customer service, I really should have checked these other Yelp reviews before booking with them. Do. Not. Choose. Kyte.

Rented a car to go to go from Chicago to South Bend to watch the Notre Dame game. Drop off was supposed to be 10 am with the game starting at 2. Received a text message at 8 am stating "ready to hit the road......Jesse will be dropping off your car ". At 8:15 I received a text saying "sorry due to a system error there are no cars available we can give you one at 2 pm. WTF I had to scramble online to find a car . Had to drive to downtown Chicago and ended getting a compact car for 3 big dudes. Last ,barely made it as the game was starting. As we were only going to have the car for one day I bet Kyte kicked me out for a better renter who was going to keep the car longer Renter beware

UPDATE: the only way the company opted to "make this right" was to give me 30 dollars in Kyte credits for future rentals. I will never use this company again.

Responded quickly to questions. very flexible on changes to reservation (before we picked up car, as travel plans changed). Easy pickup and dropoff, although a little hard to find garage entrance on return. Might use pickup and/or dropoff in future but saved a few bucks. Will definitely use again.

This rental was great for our situation (already in Chicago, but not able to reach a car rental store easily). The "surfers" dropped off and picked up the car as arranged at our home location, and a few minutes early. Assuming we receive our deposit back on time, we'd rent from Kyte again.

Worst experience ever!! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! I opted for drop off and pick up service. To my surprise, I was charged a $250 smoking fee. I DON'T SMOKE. No one besides myself rode in the car. I don't know what the pick up driver did, but I know for sure, I don't smoke!! Never have, never will!! This is a scam!! The chain of custody was broken. You can't allow someone else to posses the vehicle and then charge the renter, without proof!! There should have been a check and balance and sign off process with pick up. Irregardless, I will never rent from them again.

After researching Kyte, I decided to take a chance because of the convenience of arranging the pick up/drop off online through the app from the comfort of my home, no long lines to stand in and no waiting at a counter. So here's my experience with Kyte... -The Sufer arrived just a few minutes past my 9am pick up time (no big deal, he was very nice and polite) -The car was clean. However, the rims were very dirty. I can only believe the car was taken to an automatic car wash and the option to have the tires serviced was not selected. -While I was driving the car the dashboard display showed 'loss of pressure (left front) Check all tires and store pressures in MMI' -I found an oil change location near me and had the tire checked. Air was put in the tire. The dashboard still displayed the same message. After I got home we packed up the car but then I thought maybe I needed to report this to Kyte. I reached out to Kyte through the app, they responded within 1-2 minutes. I explained the situation and was told I needed a car swap. I thought the dash just needed to be reset but the Ground Team @ Kyte said I needed a car swap. Now we had to unload the car to go get the swap. I was told I would be receiving a $30 credit for the inconvenience (wasn't sure if the credit would be deducted from my current bill or a future credit). -I arrived at the Kyte lot near downtown Chicago for the swap. I wasn't given any clear instructions on what to do once I arrive at the address provided so this time I called Kyte and I was emailed instructions. A Sufer saw me looking lost and approached me, asked if I was here for a car swap. He was so nice. The swap took less than 15mins and off we went. -Low and behold, once we arrived at our destination the second rental car dash displayed the same thing, but this time it's for the left rear; 'loss of pressure (left rear) Check all tires and store pressures in MMI'. Well there wasn't much I can do, we've arrived at our destination and there wasn't time to do anything about it now. -When I booked from Kyte, through PriceLine.com, it stated there would be a $300 hold on my credit card. However, Kyte put a $500 hold on my card that was released the day after I returned the car rental. -My trip ended a day early. On the app I was able to change my return day/time. This time the Sufer (same nice Sufer that I received the 1st car from) arrived 15mins early, @4:15p for my 4:30p drop. I was still given a 10min grace period, 4:40p, to arrive after my drop off time. -On the Kyte App you're asked if you would like to leave a tip. Because of the professional service I received I didn't mind leaving a tip (something that's not asked for at most rental car places) but this was all done online so it's easy to ask for tips. -As for the $30 credit, I never received anything additional (no email/text/app alert) telling me how, when, where to use it. Overall, my experience with Kyte wasn't too bad, a few bumps in the road but nothing major. Every Kyte employee I encountered was exceptionally polite and very apologetic for my inconveniences.

Kyte worked out perfectly!!! They dropped off the car where I was staying, on time when they were scheduled to do so, it had a full tank of gas, and the car worked perfectly. I changed my return pick up date to a couple of days earlier, got a refund, and they picked it up on a timely manner as well. They offered the cheapest car rental prices and allowed for modifications with the rental schedule. Kyte has my highest recommendations!!!
