I'm a little mixed on this experience of Bar Humbug. A lot of other events were super expensive. This one was better priced and the drinks and food were decently good. They also had a guy playing s steel drum that was pretty good. As for the experience, it was a bit underwhelming. It was only two-ish rooms and the animations didn't really make sense. It looked a little amateurish to be honest. It was also a bit empty which was good to see and sit; but we were done in about an hour. I think this would be a cool place to stop on a trolley crawl, but a night out it is not!

Despite the lackluster reviews, I felt the art space and the relaxed environment made for a unique indoor activity on a snowy afternoon in Chicago. Transparently, I did receive the tickets as a gift and I am not sure I would pay the box office price for a 30-min protection screen on a continuous loop... but it was definitely relaxing and a great way to bring those who may not be too familiar with the complete works of Van Gogh to experience it "immersively". It was not very crowded, the mirrors added to the visual appeal, and the seating was well spaced between patrons. Each of the rooms in the exhibit had the same projection and music playing but its still worth wandering between them. It was nice they had a full bar and allowed people to bring drinks into the exhibit, they also permitted phone photography as long as flash was off. If you are on the fence about it, I'd say go because February may be the last month it's available to see.

Lighthouse Art Space is a unique experience for a cool visual show. I experienced "King Tut", which was a cool show and I'd recommend to anyone interested in Egyptology/History/Mythology. You enter the art space and go up stairs to the ballroom which has the visual show. It lasted around 30 minutes and projects all over the walls and ceiling in the room. It could use more seating (very limited) and maybe a longer show to justify the price (expensive), but it's cool to do once I think if there is a show that interests you. There is a gift shop at the end that has a ton of clearance items if you want any Van Gogh or Egyptian merch. Overall - cool experience, just short and a bit overpriced.

Merging state-of-the-art technology, theatrical storytelling, and world-class animation, don't miss the captivating and breathtaking digital art experience Time Out Chicago calls "the future of experiential art." The exhibit is designed and conceived by Massimiliano Siccardi, with soundtrack by Luca Longobardi, who both pioneered immersive digital art experiences in France. Premium Flex Offer includes a limited edition poster, cushion rental and flexibility to arrive one hour before or after your scheduled time (subject to operating hours)." Source: lighthouse chicago We were able to view the experience both in different rooms, standing or sitting on a bench with signature cushions-as well as from the floor above on a balcony. Furthermore, the experience allowed the viewer to understand how the canvas of Van Gogh's brushstrokes were executed from start to finish. In addition, the audience appeared truly engaged with the digital presentation. Furthermore, a variety of musical renditions perfectly fit the transitions between the chronological epochs of Van Gogh's works. I wish they sold the set of songs-truly impressive experience! This experience also is appealing to people of all ages and cultures-as it is visually and auditory based through music which is unique.

Eesh. The first time I was here, I'd say it was a four star experience. My sister gifted me tickets to the Van Gogh exhibit. It was lovely to watch with good music, and the artwork lends itself well to being projected on display. Based on my experience and other reviews- they're trying to fit everything to this medium when it's not going to be as good of experience. Because I had enjoyed the Van Gogh experience, when my partner said they want to see the King Tut one, I didn't hesitate to get tickets. Oof. It's a narrated story that is way too quick. Depending on where you're sitting, it's so loud that it was hard to understand. The walls have different projections, so it's hard to see everything at once even with the mirror displays. It wasn't interactive at all- I'm not counting the tiny display where you could move and the screen moved too, that wasn't even in the main room or displayed anywhere, it's tucked behind the overpriced gift shops. I paid $100+ for two of us to watch a ten minute TLDR of King Tut. I won't be trying any of the other experiences they try here based on this. We would have been better off going to the Field Museum. Plus they have dinosaurs.

This area has been used for many immersive experiences, I have gone to Monet and Van Gogh before. Last night I went to Bar Humbug for the Christmas experience which was pretty cool! There was also a live band playing great throwback songs, except it wasn't as busy so kind of felt bad for them. It also could be because of the holiday weekend. At one point one of the art installations showed a factory of presents being made and another was very snowy that it felt like Narnia. I ordered the naughty hot chocolate that was supposed to be spiked but they accidentally gave the non spiked one. It's at a good location close to Gold Coast bars.

This is a review of "The Nutcracker Experience". "La belle fleur sans odeur," as they say. All flash, no substance. Do not waste your money. - $30 per person + Taxes + fees = close to $150 for 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids) - It was just a 30 minute show projected on the walls + 30 min extra time of more Nutcracker-type projections on the walls. That's it. Nothing more. What a rip off. (King Tut and Van Gogh experience is also being shown here. Please do not waste your $.) - Workers seem bored with their jobs. Meh. Given that this was an event for kids, least they could do is be welcoming and smile. - One small elevator so not exactly wheelchair or stroller friendly. WARNING: PARENTS, LEAVE YOUR STROLLERS IN THE CAR. - No coat check. + The only good thing is the nice barista/worker where we got some desserts after the show. We had the guava gelato and some cookies. Delicious but overpriced. + There was a store too, at the end of the show. Again, over priced. Not going back again. Rip off. No substance. Better off going to the Art Institute or a local production of The Nutcracker for a cheaper price.

The King Tut Immersive was a total waste of time and money. Wow. If I wanted a fake story I'd watch Disney. Told no real history. Didn't show any sights from Egypt. I really expected a real tour of some of the real sites in Egypt. I've been to Egypt. I've been to Valley if the Kings. The music wasn't even Egyptian. Just very bad.

Bar Humbug could have been better. It's a cool experience but needed Christmas music tied to the graphics and better graphics. Very empty for a Friday night. This one fell short

Really disappointed in my vip experience at the lighthouse art space. I had won a pair of vip tickets to see immersive Monet and was really looking forward to going with my friend tonight. However the vip experience was subpar. The main reason for this was that on the vip ticket it said that we would have flexible arrival +/- one hour of our ticketed time. But then in the parenthesis it said that for the last showing of the date that you shouldn't arrive 20 mins later than the starting time. I just don't understand why they would do that if it's for VIPs and that the last showing was at rhe prime time of 7:30! We received lamenated vip tags we wore as a strap around our neck and they give us rented pillows to sit on. At the end we were told that we get $10 to spend at the gift shop if we turned in our badges. But since they shut down the registers we had to come back. It also seemed that the staff was uncertain on a lot of issues which made the situation worse. Not only was our time cut by 1/2, we didn't get a tour as well as no souvenir and just altogether a bad experience.
