Macias has got to be one of the top meals in the area. The menu is vast and there's something on it for everyone, but my go to is always the gorditas. I always take my food to go, but there is a small seating area inside and a nice patio outside during the summer months. Something that was much needed in the area. Food here is always consistent but after going to so many places for tacos and tortas across the city, price wise, nothing beats Macias. Their prices either have never changed or are just very reasonable. The staff is very welcoming and they are very attentive to any modifications with orders. This is a great place to come if you're craving Mexican food and a variety of menu options in the area. To me, their gorditas are unbeatable.

Went here yesterday with my sister. It was her first time trying it. She ordered the Carne Asada quesadilla. It looks super good. She said it was delicious and fresh. Customer service was very nice and got all of our orders correct. I ordered two Carne Asada the tacos with everything on it. Next time I get it, I will not have all of this lettuce on it and tomatoes. The taco looks like a salad and the lettuce didn't do anything for the flavor, but make it bland. Nevertheless, the meat is always good. The cheese is good. The cilantro is good and the onion. I also ordered a steak gordita as usual, and it was super good this time. I ordered it correctly without the sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes. What's good about this place that you can customize your order to your liking because some of the toppings that originally come with it are not always the best. The ambience is pretty decent. I don't eat in the restaurant because it is a busy area and I just like to get my food and come out. But they do serve you at your table if you would like that. Everything is made fresh as I stated. Of course I will be going back to try a quesadilla. We did have tripe tacos. They were no Bueno. They were very dry. Nevertheless, everything else was good. Of course I will be coming back.

This little restaurant is a gem hidden in a produce store. I've been going there for years and it gets better each time. I think someone has spread the word because it's also more crowded each time I go. And the food gets better too. A good variety of Mexican and American. Too many items to name; but the grilled chicken deserves a mention.

BABYYYYYYYYYY! Who would've known tacos at a grocery store would POP like this?!? The price point, seasoning, service, flavors, everything about this place makes it so special. I absolutely loved every taco I ordered. I can't remember the exact tacos but literally I tried like 5 different toes and not ONE was bad. When in Chicago, I recommend please please stop here. It's in the streets but the streets always delivers with food!

Unfortunately, I have to retract my initial glowing review of this place. The following two subsequent visits involved stomach aches. Why did I go back after the first incident? Well, because I was in denial. After my first review, I was very excited about going back. I just could not believe that it was them that made me sick. So before writing a followup review, I needed to be sure. So I went back, and had the exact same symptoms. Therefore, I cannot with a clear conscience continue to recommend this place. I don't know what they are doing wrong, but they obviously are doing something wrong. So unless you want your own rendition of that famous going out to new restaurant episode in "Bridesmaids" movie avoid this place.

I am very grateful for this place. When I come here and order my chicken burrito I am always happy. In my opinion they do an excellent job creating a delicious, fresh, authentic and unique burrito that includes a great mix of different ingredients. I recommend you order it with 'everything' the first time. The salsa they offer is also fantastic.They have two: a green and a red. The green is mild and the red is hot. These are flavorful salsas with texture that are also very unique to this establishment. When biting into each segment I will sometimes add the green salsa only while other times mix the red and the green and then of course when I want more of a kick I will pour all red but sparingly because it is hot. This meal is a healthy treat. They have other menu items that I can't comment on because I love this burrito so much I haven't tried anything else. Some folks have commented about the neighborhood. This is a real place with real people. I have been here many times and I've never had any problems and never felt any sense of danger. It's nice to see the different mix of people here, as that is what America is about. They have a free parking lot that you can access through the alley. I always park here so I don't have to pay for street parking. This place has character. The folks who prepare the food do an excellent job and the quality in my experience has always been consistent and, well, I'll say it again, delicious. I have had Mexican food in Mexico and Southern California (where authentic Mexican food is pervasive) and can easily say the chicken burrito ranks up there with the best. If there was a Chipotle next door, I would rather come here for what I believe is a superior burrito.
