Horrible, Horrible Horrible!!!! This place was shut down and supposedly reopened under new ownership. This chicken shack has terrible management. The first time I stopped in, it took over 30 minutes for only 6 wings. They weren't busy at all. Knowing this, today I called in my order to give them enough time to fix my food. I get there and paid, the young lady said my food was almost ready. Waited 10 minutes and found out the cook threw my food away because he said I took to long to pick it up. I called in my order at 330, (they told me 10 minutes) got there at 345. So first off, why would you take my money if you threw my food away. Secondly, you would rather throw food away and lose a customer over 5 minutes. But I've waited 30 minutes previously. I will NEVER order anything from here again. I gave them a large order for a Christmas party and now they have shown their true colors. Don't support this business, they don't care.

I had so many plans to visit so many places during our short 2 day stay in Chicago, but they all went out the window when I was introduced to the Jim Shoe. NOTE: This should actually be spelled the Gym Shoe (a Chicago nickname for sneakers). This may not be a sandwich you are particularly familiar with, even if you live in the city. This amazing sandwich was derived from the brain of a genius and has evidently not fully caught on around town. What is this sandwich you ask? It is a combination of Chicago style Italian beef, corned beef and gyros meat all chopped up and blended with the traditional toppings of each of those sandwiches in one. If that weren't the greatest thing you ever heard, they also place it in a Chicago-style hoagie bun with a slice of provolone cheese. I was absolutely ruined for life after trying this sandwich. I honestly don't know if I can go on living with out it. Finally, a sandwich I can both eat and wear! THE VERDICT Maybe someday I will invent a way to teleport my body anywhere on earth, but in the mean time, I will dream nightly of this delectable sandwich and it's deliciousness dancing on my taste buds like the mating dance of a Manakin bird. In the south, I usually have to open the sandwich just to find the meat. This $7 sandwich with fries is enough to fill two people but would be twice the price and half the meat if it were in ATL. First time coming to this location since it's been heard. I've heard some decent things about them so I decided to check them out. The location is convenient with multiple restaurants, phone stores, banks etc! First, thing I noticed was the good prices and the variety of combos! All combos come w/ a pop and, a side of fries. The place isn't big but, it isn't too small either. I tried the Gyro sandwich which was pretty good, they could do better with chopping the onions either smaller or thinner. The fries were super salty which I wasn't a fan of, but if you like salty foods then this wouldn't be an issue. Another, thing I liked was the variety of pops which was cool. Also, they do a good job of servicing your food rather quickly. There's an opening from the counter to the kitchen where you can see them cook your food which is a PLUS! Nowadays you can't most people cooking. Lastly, if you're looking for a quick bite to eat and you're in the area I'd recommend coming here. Just to add, everyone's experience is different wherever you go so I wouldn't go strictly based off reviews. I'd personally check the place out myself to pass judgement or not.

When you've got a half hour to hunt down lunch at 95th and Jeffrey, your options are limited. Look no further than RJ's, home of the elusive chunky unicorn of Chicago sandwiches: the Jim Shoe. Corned beef, gyro lamb, and Italian beef on a hoagie that buckles under the meat-weight. Like a big guy who can't fit in his pants, this sandwich bun is served open faced, too big to fold up. You'll need some time to put this one down. I've heard some say the shoe is a montrosity combo, but I loved every bite. There's provolone cheese and giardiniera mixed in too. It isn't the stuff of discretion. Fries on the side all for $7.99? Make room in the afternoon for naptime. There's also a "Super Jim Shoe" listed on the menu for those who've already stretched the capacity of their stomachs in preparation. Some day...some day. The guys working the counter were friendly and quick on the grill, the type of fellas I enjoy giving my business. Unfortunately, one week after my first visit I came back for a second go at it, but the place is apparently undergoing some involuntary remodeling as of 10/2/2013. Rumor has it a car ran into the building after an unpleasant altercation outside. Let's hope they get up and running again soon.

This place is clearly under new management since 2013 because that's the last time you can find a good review. "The gym shoe" no longer exists. It's hilarious how many of the stock photos they use for the menu and signs are actually chain fast food photos. There's literally pictures of a chalupa, McDonald's cheeseburgers, a whopper and bk's fish sandwich. With all that said. Prices are as low as it gets. I got 2 pizza puffs combo. Co workers got a cheese steak combo and and the other got the gyro burger combo. Food was mediocre. But for 5$ I'm not complaining. Pizza puff was what it is and fries were unsalted and overcooked in old oil. The drinks they provide are literally Aldi brand sodas. outside of the service being a bit slow, it was unremarkable not bad or good. The place is not air conditioned and there's two small tables and a 3 seater bar on the wall. If your looking for cheap run of the mill fast food with absolutely no frills (I guess they cost extra) I'd recommend it.

new review 10/25:. do not eat here!!!!! i repeat, do not eat here! against my better judgement i ate here again in a rush...myself and 2 acquaintances got diarrhea eating chicken and/or beef from this place. owner avoided me and kept putting me off, and would never personally address the issue. aside from the food, the interior is as nasty as the outside, only without the rodents, at least as far as we can see. on another note, i questioned the sanitary practices of the staff as the cashier was running terrence the cash register, lottery and preparing food. no gloves, no washing hands, nothing!!! on another note, the lottery cashier failed to return a winning ticket to me (i didn't cash it there due to them normally not having available cash).... 2 hours later i returned, looked in trash that was behind counter and immediately found my ticket, checked it and it had been cashed by shady cashier. via employees, owner say he would check and bank. allegedly, he didnt see anything..... this is how (some) outsiders come in your neighborhood & they treat you like shit. 5 days straight. $3.99 half chicken deal, but no chicken????? tried chicken deal: fried chicken has a lot of skin, hard/crunchy, old tasting. no wonder so cheap. july 2017: chopped steak, square, size of regular burger. taste terrible. immediately returned. haven't eaten there since. i only go to play lottery.

My daughter visited the restaurant on 8/14/2014 around 8:30 p.m. She brought home a double cheeseburger for me. IT was HORRIBLE. The quality of the hamburger patty was not very good. They did not brown the bun so the bun was soggy and when I picked up the sandwich, the bottom bun fell apart. I looked inside and the tomato small piece of tomato was super ripe. The patty was burned around the edges. I called the restaurant immediately. They have 2 phone numbers and no one answered the 1st number (773) 768-8220. When I called the other number (773) 768-8870, the guy acted as though he didn't understand what I was complaining about. He was rude and when I asked to speak to the manager, he hang up the phone on me. I called back right away, but no answer.
