National car rental at O'Hare is accessible upon arrival (via terminal) by way of their transit system. The signs are a little sparse but large and clear when available. Make sure you find the escalators up from the highest level (departures) at each terminal which should take you to a skyway, down another set of escalators, then to the train. From here, the rental facility can be found at the last stop. National is on level 3 which is extremely convenient. I did Emerald Aisle for the first time, and I called ahead because I wasn't sure if I needed to go to the counter for pre-registration. As I had already inputted my license and requisite info online, the agent let me know I could proceed as normal to the aisle and select a vehicle. I went on a busy Friday early afternoon, and there were still plenty of SUVs available. I selected a Mazda CX-5, drove up to the gate to be checked, and was on my way. Driving through Chicagoland was stressful, but the car drop-off and pickup were seamless. I was mostly concerned about the return since I couldn't find much information online. Upon inputting the address via Waze, it was actually a different road based on the airport signs. (I think either route would have worked). Once you see the blue and white "rental car return" signs, just exit accordingly. You should then find the main parking garage for drive and drop services. A super polite and warm agent asked me some brief questions, checked my vehicle, and had me on my way with the keys on the dash. It only added maybe 15-20 minutes if that (plus the train) to my usual airport travel time. Along with TSA-pre at non-peak hours, I got from point A (Chicago host) to point B (past security) within an hour. Highly recommend!

I've been to ORD many times, but this was one of the rare times I was staying in the area and needed to rent a car. I chose National, because they are my preferred rental car company. Picking up was easy and the staff in the area assisting were helpful. But getting thru their exit gate was a bad experience! It took so very long and I even switched lanes to try to get a better lane. What I found most upsetting was that there was only 1 vehicle in each line, but the amount of time it took to check out was unreasonably long! As for the vehicle I got - it was ok. Nothing special, a full size Chevy pickup. Checking back in to drop the car off was easy, I simply parked and got out. But I normally get an email receipt within a minute and as of now, I've not gotten any email from National with this receipt, which I need to file my expense report. So, I might have to end of calling, which is a frustrating waste of time! Overall - this is not the type of service I expect from National, as it's not the type of experience I've received in the past. ***BTW - National Rental Car - when you reply, don't offer up the cliche response, say something with valid, actionable substance!

Upon the arrival in Chicago, the lack of signs to get to car rentals was a little scarce after baggage claim. However, once approaching the executive aisle Donnell was a consummate professional and helped me find the perfect Mercedes for my 3 days trip. Huge shoutout to Donnell truly. Upon departure of Chicago, it was simple. I was even greeted by Drew who was extremely hospitable and charismatic and ensured the vehicle was good to go before turning in keys. National is phenomenal. The only thing I would change is the funky $400 deposit rule that applies here. Thank you national and thank you to Donnell and Drew. Blessings. Go green. Go national !

Just take an AirTrain to the rental car facility. It's very modern and clean and it only takes under 10 minutes to get here on the air train, which is free. All the car rental places are in one place and the car inventory is right outside. So it's convenient that it's kind of attached to the airport even if it feels like it's not exactly at the airport, but it is all within very close distance. You do not need a shuttle bus like a lot of airports. I love the look of this area and this is also where you can get a lift or an Uber after you drop off your rental car. After the Air train drops you off, you go down one flight on the escalator or the stairs or an elevator and all the rental cars are there. National rental is great bc you get to choose a car you want in the class of cars that you are able to choose from. The process is very fast. You don't have to wait for someone to check you in and do any further questions and such. Very quick and easy. It's kinda like how as soon as you land in an airport you want to have the rental car and not go through all the fuss and this is what national does.

Emerald Club at National is the way to go in Chicago! It's easy to just get your car and leave and not wait in line. The price it's better too then a regular rent-a-car and you avoid the long lines. People with Positive Attitude working here every time we rent cars. Nice!! Love the Toyota cars! Great location and easy to get to from O'Hare Airport and easy drop off when you are done with the car and jump back on the tram back to the airport. We save so much time doing it this way.

Watch the price closely when your reserve you car here. I reserved my car 3 months ago. I was quoted a estimate of $180 for a 2 day rental. I have Emerald Isle membership. I picked up my car July 4th. They charged me $229 for two days! I was annoyed all weekend on the price increase. I dropped off the car and they tried to confirm the price of $229. I showed them the reservation print out price estimate of $180. They then lowered the price to $186 as that is the best they could do. This place is crooked. The people working were very nice but they need some coaching on business and customer service.

I've found customer service to be exceptional here every time I have rented here for the past few months. Always someone willing to approach me when it's obvious I cannot quickly find the type of car I'm looking for and help me quickly. Overall great experience.

Rented from them and got the toll pass. A month later they send you a bill for the tolls and customer support recommends that you submit the dispute form and attach your rental bill. Of course, the dispute form doesn't work so they send you to the form indicating that you already paid the tolls. It is a ridiculous headache and they aren't worth it. Be aware that Enterprise is the same company.

Mostly writing this review to continue keeping track of which car rental companies I'd use again in my travels around the country. Once again, National comes through. Don't love how long it takes to get to the car rental center at ORD, but it's to be expected. I got upgraded to an Executive car because of availability, so I was pretty thrilled about that. Overall positive experience!

I have been coming to this National Car Rental location for the last 3-4 years when I have to travel to Chicago for business. My office is located in the Lake Counties, so a car is really a requirement. I have never had an issue with this location. When I have talked to the counter agents, they have all been courteous and provided great service. If I did not need to talk to them, and just go to my aisle and grab my car, the checkout employees have also been great, quick and my account has always remained accurate. Overall, I will continue to use National, for both personal and professional use, based on my experiences primarily with this location.
