This little bar has been in the Ogilvie Transportation Center for quite a while. I've passed it many times and on a recent Saturday afternoon, early evening, I had a wait for a train so I stopped in for some delicious Daisy Cutter and an Old Style. The barkeep was a personable guy who was able to keep the customers served quickly and efficiently. There is a bar with seating for maybe 20 people and ledges sticking out of the wall where you can stand and hoist your libations. Some of the orders were 'to go' for enjoyment on the train ride to wherever. I had a nice layover here and will consider another visit if I have another wait for a train.

This place is simple. Grab a train beer, or sit and enjoy your libation at the bar. Dark, intimate, good for a few people but not more than that because there are no tables - just the bar and a ledge around the whole place with sturdy stools. It seems most ppl come here either solo or a plus one for a quick after work drink. They have a couple TVs always with the news on and a friendly bartender. Cash only.

Fast forward, 6 years later and there isn't a trace of smoke that the other reviewer mentioned. I've been to the rail club twice now... I'm in love! In case you didn't know, there are TWO bars in Ogalvie. Rail Club is the secret bar...or it's just hidden in a corner and a little harder to find. The great thing about having a bar in the train station is that you can go shopping after you've been drinking. Do you need Bath and Body Works after a couple beers? Maybe. Do you need to go to Lids after taking that shot of Jamo? Sure, why not. Do you need a whole food court at your finger tips? Ya sure as hell do! Another great thing is that when you need to leave, you can just hop on the train and go home. $6.25 Tall Boys (24oz beers). Is this for real? It sure is! It's so hard to find a decent priced bar in the loop...until now. From what I hear, the hard stuff is expensive (I personally don't know because I'm a beer chick most of the time). Every person we encountered was awesome! If you're not shy you're in for a good time. My group kept meeting and hysterically chatting up randoms in the bar. Rail Club isn't fancy by any means. It's more or less there for the train goers to stop in for a drink while they wait for their train...or to get a "to go" cup for an on the train drink. The bathroom is unisex...yup, a urinal and a toilet. The only places to sit in the bar are at the bar itself or at stools along the walls. The bartenders are awesome! Super friendly. Super fast. This place is cash only...so be prepared to walk in with some green to pay your tab. I'm claiming this as my favorite divey happy hour place in the loop. I got Train Station Wasted and plan on doing it again really soon. Oh and they are KCCO friendly. :)

Love this place (for what it is). Love pointing it out to my fellow Ogilvie commuters, since it is hard to tell it is there Coming in the morning, you face it and it is shuttered and looks abandonded. Rushing home to the train, it is at your back so you do not really pay attention to it. It is a huge step up from the "News" one. Bartenders are old school, and totally pay attention to every detail. Games are on the bar TVs and the ancient cash register is just cool. After going there for a beer- to-go, after 2 times he knew what I wanted and ready to go when I was ready to order. Awesome. Only knock on 5 stars is the price. Much cheaper to go to CVS below the tracks for 1.79 for a quick beer on a Friday. But, if I miss a train, and have some time to kill, this is where I will go. Stop by and say hi !

Dark and smoky. After work last night, there were maybe 40 people in there, and all of them were either smoking or between cigarettes. Friendly bartenders, though. Did I mention that it was smoky?

It's a place to grab a drink (cash only) before your train, nothing more, nothing less. It's dark, they have good selections, it may or may not be crowded, plus for having a bathroom inside and not down the hall. It is what it is.
