Summer Walker sang " Youuuu got potential" and she was talking about Room 1520. Trivia 101 for ya, you're welcome. I attended a wedding here & was stressed out about there probably being no parking. Well, my fears were unfounded because there is plenty of free street parking all around. The signage is lacking though, so I'd be lying if I didn't say that I did worry a little about walking out to see a ticket on my car (but there wasn't one :)). Also, it's in an industrial area so it felt kinda sketch (dimly lit) walking to my car alone that night (ended up having a friend drop me off at my car - safety first ladies!) As for the actual venue, I think it definitely has a lot of potential. It's not a place whose beauty just commanded my attention as i entered, but what it is, is a blank canvas that you can shape into whatever you desire. The bartenders were INCREDIBLE, although I'm not certain if they were with 1520 or independent. Again, I was just a wedding guest. The coat check attendants were very kind as well. Overall, I really enjoyed the wedding and I would certainly consider having a special event here.

Chicago's hottest venue is Room 1520! This place has got it all! Wonderful room, beautiful light, cool bar, sound system, video screen, classy entrance, amazing staff! I planned a Celebration of Life on a Sunday afternoon and it was lovely. I literally would just lift my head and look around the room and the venue manager was right there asking "What can I do for you?" This place is a gem and so are the people. Our guests were wowed! If you're looking for an outstanding venue and staff, do not hesitate. Room 1520 is it!

Came here for a wedding and everything was perfect! Would definitely recommend! But what it over the top was the bartender Rachel! So personable, never broke a sweat and was the nicest person!

My husband and I got married at Room1520 last winter & it was a wonderful experience! Ashley made everything so easy & graciously allowed us to set up the day before & pick up our decor the day after. The bar & bridal suite are beautiful. Since it was winter, we did not get to use the patio. We did however, use the rooftop for photos. It was still a beautiful view even though a new building now blocks the skyline view. If you were thinking about having your wedding at room1520, do not hesitate!

In August I had my wedding reception on the 15th of 2015 at 1520. (cool play on #s, huh?) There were several things that set this place apart from the other Chicago Loft Type venues we visited 1) It's a clean, white, blank canvas with up lights included in the price. The up light colors can be changed to whatever you want. 2) The entrance foyer is huge & inviting with a beautiful staircase that leads to a gorgeous bar. 3) It had a spacious bridal suite with its own private washroom 4) We could pick our own vendors (we ended going with one on their preferred list) AND we could buy our own alcohol 5) Celeste was awesome to work with. The whole process was smooth leading up the big day but of course there was a minor scare a month before. An acquaintance had a wedding at Room 1520 in July and according to him & his guests, the temperature inside the venue was hot. Apparently one of the two air conditioners broke. After hearing this I emailed Celeste right away with my concern. Not only did they fix the broken AC, they added two new ones and extra vents in the ducts. All this was done well before my wedding day which gave me peace of mind and one last thing to worry about. Thank goodness! I LOVED this venue and so did all our guests. [We only had our reception at Room 1520 because our wedding was held at a church. The church service ended by 3:20pm and the earliest we could have the guests enter the venue was 5pm. So if you're like us, and want to offer your guests a place to 'hang out' in-between church and reception, talk to the owner of Cobra Lounge (located a block away). They opened their doors earlier than usual just for our guests. ]

We had our wedding here and it was wonderful! I gave them 5 stars or more !! The place is beautiful, with a great distribution, beautiful entrance, nice bar, beautiful bridal room The staff was amazing! Everyone was very attentive and helpful. I think it was required to have the bar/drinks with them, but it was great! Friendly bartenders, delicious cocktails. They even bought a specific Venezuelan rum that I wanted. I totally recommend this place for your wedding.

We had our October 2017 wedding at Room 1520 and couldn't be happier with how everything went. From the outside its very unassuming (being located in the middle of an industrial neighborhood and all), but the inside is stunning. My now-husband and I knew we wanted a venue that was modern and urban, was unique to Chicago, was located in a quiet area, would let us use whatever vendors we wanted, and was more or less a blank slate for us to decorate as we like, and Room 1520 checked all of those boxes, and more. The built-in bar, huge bridal suite, and rooftop for photos just sealed the deal for us to choose them (it wasn't their fault it poured literally all day on our wedding day so we didn't really get to take advantage of the rooftop!). Celeste was a dream to work with from our first visit to the big day. She was very quick to answer any questions I sent her way, and was very accommodating of letting us come see the space again whenever we needed to while we were planning. On the day of the wedding she was there early to help direct vendors and even sneakily took a cell phone video of our first look from the back of the room, which she sent me after the wedding, which was a very sweet gesture that we didn't expect. Room 1520 perfectly suited our minimalist, no-fuss style. The crystal chandeliers and colored uplighting on the white pillars added just the right touch of elegance without being too ornate, and we added some simple string lights and candles to complete the decor. Many of our guests told us how "gorgeous" and "perfect" the space was and we were like, "we know!" There is free street parking all around, which is awesome. Parking in the area can be a bit tricky when coming to visit on weekdays, but on the weekends it's wide open, so our guests who chose to drive had no issues finding spaces, nor did anyone run into any safety issues. A unique space that can be decorated to suit anyone's taste and any event's theme, we couldn't recommend Room 1520 more.

Beautiful wedding venue and awesome service! We got married at Room 1520 in October 2016. We worked with Celeste from start to finish. She is extremely professional and passionate about making sure you have a fabulous wedding. She consistently answered all our questions, we worked with her to design the space, she let us come early the day of the wedding to use the bridal suite to get ready, and she worked directly with all our vendors (they all know and love her, so it makes everything easier!). We had about 160 guests and had a half sit-down/half cocktail style reception. It was the perfect size space. The bar is so gorgeous and large, no one had to wait for drinks and it never felt crowded. You can add a lot of decorations if you want, but we just went with white tablecloths, the clear chairs, and simple candles, and it was so beautiful. The uplighting and chandeliers make the crisp white space glow in the evening. We used the rooftop for our first look and some bridal party pictures. Great view of the city and very private. Our guests all loved the venue as much as we did. At the end of the night we walked a block down the street to the Cobra Lounge for an after-party, it was super convenient and since it was so close a lot of people joined, perfect place to end the night! We viewed about 12 other venues in the city and nothing compared to the unique style, the value, the service, and the flexibility that Room 1520 offers. We are so grateful we found this spot and highly recommend it!

Beware - they remove bad reviews. I left an honest, 2.6 star review on wedding wire and the immediately took it down. We decided to go with the All Inclusive package from Room 1520 which included bar staff, a day of coordinator, and a DJ from Cage and Aquarium. We went with this package to make everything simpler and easier on the wedding day, but it ended up being more work and stress for us. One issue that came up was with the bar. The contract for the All Inclusive package stated that we would have the bar staff and DJ for 7hrs. The contract states that two bartenders are provided by Room 1520, but if the event is longer than 7 hours, there would be an extra fee. Our wedding was 7 hours so we should have had bar staff for that length of time. We did not make any changes to the contract this was just the original contract so I would have thought the Day of Coordinator and the bar staff would know how long the bar staff are supposed to be working the wedding for, but the bar staff tried to shut down the bar completely a little over an hour before they were supposed to. We confirmed that the cash bar would be allowed for the last hour of the night with our Day of Coordinator, but the morning of our wedding our Day of Coordinator told us that they wanted to give us another hour of open bar on the house so that we wouldn't have to have a cash bar for an hour. We were so happy and grateful so when the bar tried to close an hour early I was so confused how that could happen. This was such a frustrating experience as a whole because the woman who was managing the bar staff was rude all night and acted like she did not want to be there and when I tried to explain that they are scheduled to stay another hour she just said no we are leaving. I then went to our Day of Coordinator and she also tried to tell me that the bar staff was supposed to leave at this time so I had to pull up the contract myself to show the Coordinator that we still had an hour left of the bar. That is so infuriating as the bride that I had to go around all night telling the vendors and coordinator what was in our contract. Another issue we came across was that we paid over 1k to the venue to have wine service with dinner, but all of our guests complained that they either did not get a glass of wine or only received one glass of wine at dinner because they had to flag down a server to get it. I would have never paid so much money for some people to receive one glass of wine. Even us, the bride and groom, only received one glass of wine at dinner even after I asked a server twice to get a refill. When we asked our Day of Coordinator what happened with the wine service she explained that there was a miscommunication between the caterers and the venue that the caterers thought the venue was supplying the wine service and the venue thought the caterers were supplying it so there was not a person actually assigned to doing the service. Obviously that is just an unfortunate miscommunication, but I just feel like we shouldn't have been charged for the service when it wasn't really performed or at least I think we should've gotten a partial refund or something. The reason I fault the venue for this is because we paid the venue for this service, not the caterer, so the venue needs to take responsibility for the problem. Another issue was with the DJ's equipment. The DJ came with the All Inclusive package with the venue so I thought it would be great and the DJ would understand the space well. The DJ equipment ended up being so off and the microphone would periodically make a screeching feedback noise. During the ceremony, it was so disappointing because our officiant would be talking and then there would be the loud screeching noise. The microphone and speakers didn't work very well in general and every time the DJ had to announce anything no one could understand anything he said so a lot of people ended up missing first dances and practically no one got desserts or late night snacks (including me and the groom) because they had no idea there was a dessert table and late night snack table set out in a back corner. Another issue arose because we DIYed most of our decor. Our Day of Coordinator suggested we hire a day of decorator through the same company she worked for so we did that. I made detailed color coded instructions on where to put what. As I was in the room with the bar just before I was going to walk down the aisle I saw that the decorations hadn't even been put out so the detail shots the photographer took of the welcome table and things like that were just pictures of empty tables. I am just overall so disappointed in how poorly managed the day was and I would really caution anyone interested in this venue to not go with the the All Inclusive package and find your own outside vendors.
