It appears that customers either have extremely good or extremely bad experiences with SIXT rentals but fortunately, we experienced the former. It was our first time renting from SIXT as it was a service that was included in our Capital One Venture X program and we had a great experience withthem from the beginning to end. We rented a car for our little getaway in Chicago and everything was a breeze. Reservations were made online, we picked up our car as soon as we arrived in the city and paid a little extra for an upgrade to 2024 BMW X2. Very luxurious, spacious, clean and easy to drive. It made our vacation that much more enjoyable. Customer service was fast and friendly and returning the rental was very easy. You just enter the code you're given at pick up, park the car and return the key to a rep or drop it off in the drop box if it's after hours. We will definitely be renting from SIXT again in the future!

Will never rent from again - continue to fight the business as they are trying to charge us again for damage that occurred after we returned the vehicle. The first time, the vehicle was obviously struck after it was parked in their lot; and they waited weeks to try and blame us. This time, we have photos of the car after we returned it, and they decided that they would ignore those and try and charge us for a scratch. This all stems from that their garage is used by other businesses, so even if you return the vehicle its at risk, and they will blame you for their lack of security.

I'm not sure I should even bother to write a review. It is the same rim job scam with us as well. Please don't rent with this company. They waited so long after our initial response that we assumed they had dropped it only to send it to a collection agency which made it too late for the insurance we had to cover the claim. The original rental agreement even had the damage listed as pre existing. Just changed to a different tire. Still only one rim damaged at the end, not 2, so it isn't new. There is apparently a class action law suit against them for this.

Sixt was so easy to rent from! I had to adjust my return day and all I had to do was extend the date through the link and it just updated price! It's also so convenient to return the keys in the return box in the parking garage! My car was very clean and the service was so nice!

Me and my mom recently rented a vehicle from your Wabash location in Chicago rental agreement number is (9602744941). I, Maurice Watkins was the additional driver. Upon completion of the rental, i returned the vehicle with a full tank of gas and no damages. The employee (Ernesto) did a once over of the vehicle and said everything was good and I would receive an email. But I never got the email, a week later my mom noticed a charge of over $1,000 to her credit card. She called customer service and they sent an invoice, she was shocked and appalled when she seen an additional charge for smoking and cleaning. Neither me or my mother smoke, no cigarettes or marijuana. I strongly refute these charges and I feel like we were taking advantage of by your employee at the location. Me and my mom are willing to send drug tests that will show a negative drug screen for any drug. I am asking that these fees be waived and the charges be reversed, my mom is almost 70 years of age and these is by far the worst experience ever. Please reverse the charges and give my mom her money back. Thank you

1 Star -- A Masterclass in Customer Disservice Our experience with Sixt Rental Car was appalling from beginning to end -- an absolute traveler's nightmare wrapped in corporate indifference. We reserved a vehicle four months in advance, specifically one that could seat seven passengers with luggage space. Upon arrival, we were informed -- without apology -- that only one car remained, and it was in a completely different class than what we had booked and paid for. The response? A flat "take it or leave it." No effort to make it right, no discount, no upgrade -- just a shrug. It only got worse. When we returned the vehicle, a Sixt agent inspected the car on-site, confirmed everything looked good, and told us no paperwork was necessary -- we were "all set." Imagine our shock when, two days later, we received a bill for $936 claiming the car had been returned damaged. The so-called "proof" consisted of photos that could not even be confirmed as the same vehicle we rented. We immediately disputed the charge, explaining that we had been cleared at return and that the photos were irrelevant -- yet all we received in response were repeated invoices demanding payment. This wasn't just poor service -- it was a deliberate, shady, and borderline fraudulent experience. Sixt is operating a post-rental shake-down scheme. They rely on the assumption that customers won't fight back. But we are. We have filed a dispute with our credit card company and are pursuing further action. In the meantime, consider this your warning: Renting from Sixt is a gamble -- and the odds are not in your favor. Avoid this company at all costs.

I had a wonderful experience! It was easy to book using the app. I booked a standard Toyata Corolla sedan. When I came in, I was upgraded to a BMW 5 Series 530i xDrive for free because it was my first time with Sixt. The BMW was clean, had a full tank, and was a great drive. All the staff were helpful and professional. Tasha was wonderful and had a pleasant demeanor. Heads up that you need to return the car with a full tank out of pocket. The BMW requires premium gas, which is a bit more expensive.

Unethical company with non-transparent agreement for the sake of manipulating customer perception.... For instance, offering a "pay now" option (in my case, my PA booked, paid, and confirmed my rental, unknown of the card presence requirement....nontheless, I had it on mobile pay form of which they don't accept). also, entailing the "driver information" section AND "credit card holder" section (photo attached ) suggesting allowance of different persons instead of defaulting to a singular option. In addition, advertising a "pay now" feature for a "lower rate" and rapid expedition, At the final transaction stage of "WHEN YOU ARRIVE", specifying verbatim, "The driver must present a valid driver's license and credit card in their name upon pick-up. The credit card is required as a deposit when renting any vehicle". (Note: AS A DEPOSIT , NOT AS PROOF OF PAYMENT FORM). Or simply clarifying "DRIVER MUST PRESENT PHYSICAL PAYMENT CARD USED TO PRE-PAY". My experience concluded with them refusing the rental, not suggesting options, not honoring the written proof on their policy, not confirming a refund, AND TO PUT THE ICING ON THE CAKE, THEY WERE MOB SHAMING ME LIKE A KAREN when I had legit concerns and questions...with obvious frustrations on my part but never of indecency or profanity. BEYOND HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE :-( Photos attached are proof to back up my claims.

Overall, Sixt is a good car rental company. The vehicles are very nice, but Beware the "Choice Upgrade" fee and vehicles without the EZ PASS toll pass. CHOICE UPGRADE FEE: We've rented two vehicles from them and each time, when we arrived, our reserved vehicle wasn't available or needed to be cleaned. The first time was a one day rental and the "Choice Upgrade" was an additional $85 - to go from a BMW X1 to a BMW X5. The second time we rented, when we arrived, the BMW X1 we reserved needed to be cleaned, and we were offered either our reserved BMW X1 or to be upgraded to the BMW X3 - we opted for a upgrade. The sales associate explained the additional charges it to us, but we didn't really understand, we were in a rush, so we were like - yeah, okay - then I'm looking at the invoice saw a "Choice Upgrade" charge for $500 for a 4 day rental. PRO-TIP going forward we're going to reserve the top of the line vehicle up front - figuring it'll save us the "Choice Upgrade" fee, when our reserved vehicle either isn't cleaned or isn't available. EZ PASS toll pass The first vehicle we rented, we opted for the "EZ PASS toll pass" for $13/day - no issues. The second vehicle, we did the same, but it didn't actually have an EZ PASS toll pass in the vehicle, so for the Skyway, and the Indiana Toll Road, we had to pay out of pocket. I called Sixt and they told us to just keep the receipts and settle up when we returned the vehicle. We didn't get receipts, and that's just a hassle, so we took the toll charge off the vehicle and we're paying out of pocket for the whole trip. We have an EZ PASS toll pass for our city car, which we could have used, but Sixt told us that it takes something like 24 hours for the toll app to switch the license plates over for the tolls? I don't know, but I do know that for future rentals, I'm insisting on there being a proper EZ PASS toll pass installed in the vehicle before we drive off the lot. While there have definitely been some hiccups, we like the BMWs - much more comfortable for a long distance trip than our little city car. The location of the rental place is ideal for us, and the front desk staff are really very nice - just know that they talk very fast, and if you're like us and in a hurry and kind of over a barrel, coordinating a rental car and family schedules, if you're not careful, you could be in for an expensive surprise on your invoice.

The absolute worst experience I have ever had at a rental agency in my entire life! I am (56) years old and have rented vehicles 1000's of times in my career all over the US. They overcharged me $21,000 for a car I rented in Chicago last January for (1) week??? The shear incompetence was so egregious it was nauseating. It was like a bad dream. I live in California and all of my family is back in ChiTown. I know the city very well and it is appalling you cannot speak to anyone in the actual city you are renting from. It took me (2) weeks to get the charges reversed. Everyone in the so-called "customer service" division are located in the Philippines. How are they expected to handle problems experienced in the US. All very kind people... set up to fail with mistakes made by the parent company. The worst rental car agency on Earth. Just read the reviews. Trust the reviews.
