I stopped in because I was looking for something new. Usually I'm not in the area, but I'd seen this place numerous times. I skimmed through the reviews as we all tend to do now, and figured I'd give it a shot. Let me say, it did not disappoint. I ordered a sausage and pepperoni pan pizza and XL half cheese half pepperoni. The pizzas were great. The sauce is very tasty, as the reviews stated. It's a sweet sauce so be prepared. The crust had a good crunch with a hint of char that gave it a brick oven feel even though it wasn't. Both pizzas also came with a 1 liter soda of your choice. The real star of this place was the service. You know the place is special when you're the only one they ask 'What's the name?'. Everyone coming in, I hear being addressed on a first name basis. I hear them telling long time customers, 'I see you changed it up today'. That was so awesome to see. So many places don't take that time. I got to meet Natalie and Frank. They run the place. Oh! And one of their sons. They were awesome. Took my order and while I was waiting kept conversation with me about any and everything. Was such an easy vibe, felt like they were long time friends which was nice. Didn't have to go wait in the car or sit there in silence, they made you feel included. They mentioned the BYOB patio they open right next door in the summer. Which I've seen before and plan to enjoy with the family. Overall, I enjoyed this place. The pizza was good, the people and service amazing. Not much more you can ask of a pizza spot. I will be back and if you're ever in the area give it a shot. Might just be one of those places that has you saying 'Ooh, we have to get TaTa's while we're out here."

This is the best pizza in the Chicagoland area. I used to live right down the street and grew up eating it. Now I live in the suburbs and will make the 45 minute drive to Tatas! Have yet to find any other pizza place that is as good. The pizza is always hot out of the oven. The sauce is absolutely wonderful, perfect amount of sweetness. The family that own it are very nice and hardworking. One of the last genuine Chicago pizza joints. Don't take tatas for granted, you will miss it if you ever move out of the neighborhood :,)

Pizza is made right in front of you and you feel the heat as you come through the door. BYOB for the patio if you prefer to dine out. I'm in walking distance and it's a twice a month addiction.

This is old school pizza - absolutely top drawer!!! The service is very welcoming, and the cook never disappoints. My family from Texas said this pizza tastes better than Giordano.

Most underrated pizza on the south side. Mom and pop place run by a small family spitting out great pan style pizzas. Not as visible as Milano's or Fox's, but honestly it's better than those two. Tata's pan style crust is thicker than their their southside competitors and the sauce is a little sweeter than you'd expect, but it compliments the crust well. The slightly charred pepperoni is my favorite topping, and it's nice finding places that offer non standard toppings like roasted red peppers. Only downside I've found is that leftovers don't hold up very well in the fridge, the crust tends to soak up the sauce and gets a bit soggy...but we usually don't have many leftovers!

Not bad! Came in fourth in our Caddie Pizza Rankings and so I was obligated to try it. Plus, Kevin (the looper--you probably know him) is always talking about Tata's, so I gave it a go. It's a little sweeter than I normally prefer, but I did not seem to mind it. One day when the Missus and the kids weren't home, I got a large sausage pizza and intended just to eat a couple of pieces, leaving the rest for the family because a) I care about them and b) I wanted to look like a kind, self-sacrificing mensch. Well, I sat there for a half hour eating. Usually, I watch tv or browse the Internet (those are my two favorite hobbies) while I eat, but I just sat there, focusing on the pizza. In the end, I left one piece for the other four members of my household. However, thinking I'd be seen as stingy rather than the giving, caring, other-directed person that I am, I consumed the final piece in one glorious, gluttonous bite, one final gulp of gastronomical glee. That was some dadgum fine pizza. And as for Kevin? Last I heard, he was getting all dressed up like he was going to prom and reading books to kids. (Kevin sent me a photo, but I didn't see Kevin in the photo--it was all women with real big shoulders--so I think ol' Kevin sent me the wrong photo! No problem, though.) But my point is that Tata's draws quality folks like Kevin to their establishment because they make great pizza. Great stuff.
