My husband and I watched an improv show last night. We bought the tickets day of, when we realized we had no plans for the evening. Buying tickets on their site is so easy! Also, don't forget to add a donation! We got to the theater about 25 minutes before show time, they have a big lobby area with seating as you wait. There's also a small bar, with assorted mixed drinks, beer, cider and wine. The staff there is so nice, they let me try something before I committed to it. The theatre itself is large with different types of seating. I prefer the high top tables in the back row. The show started a bit later than advertised but it was all good. The show was so funny! And of course in true improv style, they had the audience participation by asking for prompts and input. I would 100% go back!

We so enjoyed the hospitality and venue. Easy to visit and purchase tickets in advance online with very small fees. You can also buy tickets at the door as long as the show is not sold out. There's a pre show area with a bar and reasonably priced drinks which we enjoyed. The show itself was not to our liking, but we will definitely try again soon with another title. Great addition to this part of town.

Sorry, but this is was the dumbest show I have ever seen in my life. If my family would've let me I would have left after 5 mins. It was not funny at all. Other people were laughing, but I'm not sure why. It was super cringe. I wish some would have been honest in these reviews.

My wife is a little wary of improv versus comedy clubs. But, alll of the cast was incredible, leading to a great night for my entire family.

DON'T take a class with them!!! Got sick and ask if I could move my registration to the next session and they refused. Said they could give me a discount for next session but wouldn't change it for me. Pretty much wasted my money. I've heard Second City is better anyway I just wanted to go someplace closer.

I've taken an Intro to Improv class there and finally just got to go to an improv/skit show as well. Both were excellent. Looking forward to going again. Bar is maybe $1-$2 / drink more than you'd expect--$8 for Jim Beam mixed drink for instance. Seems steep if they are trying to attract college crowd. I'm happy to support them just consider dropping in to Jimmy's beforehand if you're out boozin.

Chicago Theological Seminary hosted an event at The Revival this past weekend and it was my first time in the venue that I've passed on several occasions. The Revival is located alongside several restaurants and a Starbucks. There's a good amount of street parking in the area - about what you would expect for Hyde Park. I quite enjoyed the intimate atmosphere and look forward to attending other events as I'm sure the space can be transformed to accommodate several types of events.

I think I have a clue as to why there were only about half a dozen people here on a Saturday night (validating the hell out of each other, as The Onion once wrote about a girls' night out). I came in off the street on a whim and ended up getting the hell out of there in epic disgust (and leaving my groceries, but they were just a supply of oatmeal cookies for a friend; I hope the staff find some consoling use for them). The first performer I saw was wonderful, talking about a (perhaps real, maybe fictive) bulleted list his parents had presented him with when he was a teenager that read like a radically reduced Victorian manual for the conduct of life. He had charm, humility and physical presence. They should give him a whole hour and promote him. After he left the stage it all degenerated into 30-somethings whining out aging and their families and making rude comments about the latter. When the videos came on and someone was displaying photos of a relative's medical devices, with mocking commentary, I had to leave. I mean I REALLY had to leave, and I'm not all that sensitive. This place should drop the mantle of the Compass Players and become a straight-up Hyde Park dive bar. It would be more fun, cheaper, and infinitely more entertaining.

This place is actually the birth place of improv back in 1955. They just opened 3 months to 'revive' it up here in Hyde Park. They offer classes and even summer camps. I came here for a private event. Great venue.
