The Wormhole blew me away. This was my second time coming, and honestly, it's still the same as my last visit more than 10 years ago. Pure 80's nostalgia, the place is covered in movie posters everywhere and even a real DeLorean from Back to the Future 2 in the back. You could spend hours just exploring the decor from every corner and still find something new. The staff was awesome too, really friendly and down to chat while you're there. I started my morning with a hot chocolate and a chocolate croissant. The croissant was flaky, crispy, but still soft inside, and dipping it into the hot chocolate... wow, just hits different. The hot chocolate itself was smooth, creamy, and rich, the perfect combo with the croissant. Honestly, this place is more than a coffee shop. It's a place where you can just sit back and relax.

Wormhole Coffee has to be the hipster capital of Chicago. I felt like I walked right off a 1980s Venice beach boardwalk and into this coffee shop. There was a full scale model Delorean hanging in the back, vintage 80s movie posters lining the walls, and vintage chairs and tables. I always romanticize getting a sophisticated coffee drink in a place like this. How cool would I look if I ordered something chic like a flat white or a cortado? I would love to order a drink that I would only trust someone with a nose piercing or colored hair to make, but I always end up just getting a black coffee. A straight black coffee just makes me feel so beast. It feels like smoking a Marlboro Red. It feels like running 6 miles on an empty stomach. It feels like raw dogging a 7 hour flight with no movie, music, or wifi. It's just a win to start the day. I was slightly perturbed when a small black coffee cost me $4.15, but I guess life as whole is just getting more expensive. I'd expect this in NYC, but in Chi? Damn. All good though. I sat outside sipping my delicious black coffee in a white button down with the sleeves rolled up while performatively reading Dostoevsky, fully maxing out my aura points for the week. Do NOT come here on a weekend if you're just looking to grab a coffee... the coffees were backed up for about 30 minutes. I noticed the long row of cups the baristas were working on and ordered a cold brew, which was easy and ready in a minute. Be mindful of that! Otherwise, the coffees were fine, the ambiance was busy, and that's that!

Love this place already ! They have bottomless coffee and it was slapped. The staff was kind and informative, they suggested the bottomless drip and I really appreciated that bc I was going to order one and call It a day. This place is so chill to stay and get work done or read a book, I wish I lived in the neighborhood bc I'll be a regular. Also their donuts are fire, the chocolate and glaze went crazy. We were kicking around the neighborhood the other day when visiting Chicago and I needed a coffee real bad. I did a quick search and found I was literally standing next door to Wormhole. Score. Speaking of doors, the line was out of it. Very popular, obviously. But it moved along at a nice clip. Once inside I admired all the 80s themed decor, suddenly aware of my age as all the pop culture from my childhood was displayed on the walls. Fun to reminisce but also slightly distressing realizing it was all now considered retro. (Kidding! Kind of). I ordered a cold brew with vanilla and a bit of room for cream. An uncomplicated order that was handed to me in no time. The cold brew was great. Smooth. Just how I like it. Service was brisk but friendly. The music was also right up my alley, Teenage Fanclub into James. 20 odd years ago when I lived in Chicago for college my Brit music obsessed self would have absolutely posted up here on the regular. Though I would have definitely needed exercise patience finding a seat. There's plenty of tables here but on a Friday afternoon nearly all the spots were taken, so if you're looking to post up here you may have to wait a minute. Me? My coffee was to go. I added my creamer next to an old computer I recognized as a smaller version of the kind I learned to type on in elementary school. Another healthy dose of nostalgia served alongside my caffeine.

I can't put into words how much I love this place. I dream about the Koopa Troopa regularly. Their donuts are amazing too. And their matcha. And their people. Also I met Role Model here one time.

Loved the quirky interior here! It immediately put me in a good mood to start off the day. The staff were super friendly and gave me great recommendations based on what I said I liked. I ended up trying the Military Trio, which had white miso caramel and black sesame. The nuttiness of the sesame with the espresso blew me away on the first sip. Super unique and memorable! This cafe fits the style of Wicker Park so much! I came here for a small hot latte and spent some time inside reading a book. People there were interesting and friendly, either the baristas or the customers. The restroom looked so cool as well. Nice coffee too!
