The only issue I had with my experience is the physical set-up of this location. I realize it's an airport car rental location, but since they are actually off of the airport property, they should be a little more accessible to customers who might not be arriving on a Midway flight. I'm a local resident who needed a car for the weekend. So I had a ride to the rental place, but they don't allow personal cars in the garage, so I had issues physically trying to get to the 3rd floor location to pick-up the car. Not to mention I had bags which were inconvenient for me to handle by myself. Otherwise, I received great customer service. I also received the online price and car requested... even with a last minute rental over a holiday weekend. The car was clean... inside and outside.

Rented from Atlanta airport for my son graduation weekend 5/15-5/18 Terrible Experience with Thrifty - Would Not Recommend I reserved a rental vehicle in advance through my Southwest app to avoid delays and make the process as smooth as possible. Unfortunately, my experience with Thrifty Car Rental was the exact opposite. When I arrived at the rental center, I was told there was no reservation on file. I had to step out of line, find the confirmation email, and return to the counter--only then did the associate acknowledge my reservation. Even though I reserved a mid-size vehicle, I was told none were available and was forced into a full-size SUV at nearly twice the quoted price. I waited over an hour to get the vehicle, then had to spend another 30 minutes searching for the keys because no one was available to assist with checkout. To make things worse, the associate added insurance coverage even though I explicitly declined it. This felt like a blatant upsell tactic and left me feeling taken advantage of. The entire experience was disorganized, overpriced, and completely unprofessional. Thrifty made what should have been a simple rental process a frustrating and time-consuming ordeal. I left feeling like I'd been robbed. Avoid Thrifty if you value your time, money, and peace of mind.

The worst scam ever.. O'Hare count your days .. don't rent from them. they literally charge you for everything. The car smell like fucking mildew. They have bad attitudes they customer service never can help you out. What's the point of customer service if you can never help out, I've disgusted it with this car company.

I was charged a $100.00 cleaning fee after returning a car at Chicago Ohare. All it need was a good vacuum which would have taken me 10 Minutes at most! The car also reeked of Pot which was obviously not cleaned before I got the car. I will never take a car with out a person standkig with me to inspect first!!

Do not rent from thrifty they don't deserve any stars. They are a big scam. Purchased the full option and when signing the paper work the lady renting the car made it seem that it would be cheaper to pre purchase the full and at no time made it clear that you will not get a refund so the only way that this works is if you return the car on empty. Everything is extra at thrifty and their customer service is a joke. Do not rent from them. Would leave zero stars if possible. Do not rent from thrifty.

They should change the name of the company to Shifty because they are a scam! I booked my rental through booking.com and was quoted around $160. Ended up having to pay a $200 refundable security deposit upon picking up the car. No problem. The problem came when I dropped the car off at the end of my trip and the next day I received a bill that was 3 times what I was quoted. I have never seen so many bogus changes on a single bill. They charged me for unspecified "damage" of over $100. $50 in tolls when I went through a total of 1 toll my entire trip. A 6 hour late fee when the car was dropped off on time. I was absolutely flabbergasted. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these crooks and go with a more reputable company.

I was overall pleasantly surprised by my experience with Thrifty. I booked through them because they were the cheapest and later on got pretty worried by all the bad reviews I found online about Thrifty, saying things like how they ran out of cars, there were 1-2 hour lines, and they overcharged you a lot of the time. I experienced none of these things during my rental. There was a little mixup with the rates when we picked up the car, but they fixed it and I was very happy with the car that they gave me. The one thing with Thrifty that was true that I read from reviews was that their customer service is awful. I had to call a couple times before I picked up the car and each time was about 20-30 minutes on hold. I learned a little too late that they respond much quicker if you message them on Facebook.

We booked and prepaid for the rental through Wisecars. Wisecars told us that we may need to show credit card at rental desk to verify the voucher. We waited in line for 3 hours to get to the rental desk (no other rental car agencies had lines anywhere near as long!!) and then when we got to the desk the attendant asked for the credit card and signature. When we got home we realized she had charged us for extras we did not want and she did not ask us about! The $250 rental became a $600 rental! I called multiple times and was told they would look into it. Of course they did not reply and finally told me I signed the agreement and was responsible. While I was waiting for the reply they promised they sent it to a collection agency! Terrible service and overcharging by Thrifty/Hertz/Budget! I guess I am glad they did not tell the police the car was stolen - that is what Hertz did and this is the same firm. This is a SCAM operation. Read all of the reviews. YOU HAVE TO BE CRAZY TO RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! Do yourself a favor and use Lyft and Uber - I have been doing that for trips ever since and it is much less expensive! So much easier to use ride-share. No parking or directions or stress - and for LESS MONEY!! I have taken 3 trips since and taken tons of rides - never got close to $250 let alone $600 I had to pay for that car! I doubt I will rent a car again!

My family and I went to Salt Lake City in Feb 2025 and we went to pick up our reservation from Thrifty at the airport. They said they didn't have a vehicle for us and we would have to wait 3 hours. Another person next to us walked up and got a vehicle right away. I asked if they had vehicles but just not in our rented category which was a mid-size SUV. The employee said they had a Ford edge but it was in the full size SUV category which we didn't rent. I asked them to put us in that vehicle because they over booked our vehicle which was their fault and not ours. They refused and said we could pay to upgrade to the Ford Edge. I asked how much and they said it would be $650 for our 4 day car rental. I had paid $200 for our 4 day car rental for a mid-size SUV so I told them they were crazy if they were going to get triple the price when it was their fault they overbooked us. I called corporate Thrifty and they said they would try to upgrade me and asked to speak with the employees and manager at the desk. The employees refused to speak to corporate and said they don't talk to anyone. Even the manager refused to speak to corporate. It was horrible customer service at its best. After 2 hours of waiting 50 feet from the desk my wife went to ask how much longer and they said our car has been ready. We asked why anyone didn't tell us! They said we should have got a notification. I showed them my phone to prove no notification was received. They didn't apologize or try to offer any money back for their problem of making us wait. Thrifty is a horrible company and I would stay away.
